Having not experienced a care home environment, I can honestly say that Chiltin Court is as near to 'home from home' as my mum can be, with very friednly and experienced staff. Clean and fully equipped. Familiar faces in the staff and always available for a chat and advice. Always have time to spend
with residents and relatives and are open to bringing in pets, games, photos and even singers!

My wife has had bad experience of respite in the past. This respite was exact opposite. Staff were brilliant in the whole experience. Food lovely especially cake. My wife even said she would come back for Christmas Day Lunch, first class.

My sister has been a resident in this care home for over a year. She is treated with kindness, understanding, empathy, respect, professionalism and all-round complete good care. She is kept safe and is well cared for. Her decisions are considered in all aspects and she has a great relationship with
the team of carers, domestics, kitchen team, activities coordinator and management. This relationship is so important for her but also for us to witness and eases any concerns we may have for her wellbeing. We are local to the home and some staff know our family which for us is a great comfort. Thank you.

The staff are very friendly and caring. Any concerns we may have are dealt with properly. Mum is happy which shows she is content with her surroundings. At 99 next Jan mobility is a problem and must be helped which is not the most dignified for Mum. However, she accounts for this and the staff do their
very best to make her "trip" as soon as it can get. A really nice care home for Mum for the last 2 1/2 months.

We realised that Mum was no longer able to live alone in her flat in Stowmarket, where she has lived for many years and has many friends, her eyesight was failing, she was frail and had had a couple of falls around her flat. Having talked through her needs with Mum, we decided (with her full agreement)
that she would be better off living somewhere where she could have security, care and comfort, she did express a wish to continue living in Stowmarket (I do not live in Suffolk) so she could continue contact with her friends. We identified three possible care homes in the town and visited Woodfield Court with Mum to view the facilities and to discuss the moving in process. Woodfield was the one that people had spoken of being the best out of those we viewed. Made welcome on the initial visit, everything was explained to us. Mum's moving in day was hard but staff made her feel welcome and soon put her at ease. Always cheerful, she gets on well with staff, I am happy Mum chose Woodfield Court.

Woodfield Court has a warm and friendly atmosphere engendered by the caring, hardworking and welcoming staff and management team. There are celebrations, events and activities (personal and national) for all tastes and abilities. Meals are of a high standard with a good choice. Residents are encouraged
to make choices and decisions to give a feeling of ownership and belonging and care in a safe environment. A lovely home, I couldn't ask for more.

The kindness is the thing that shines through the most at Chilton Court, every single person at the home is kind and friendly and gives time to my friend. She is so incredibly happy at Chilton Court, activities are every day and so varied and brilliantly thought out. The rooms are clean and bright and
the attention to detail is excellent. Whenever we have had a question the staff have gone out of their way to help and when sad things have happened they have been supportive and caring with their time for my friend. Just above and beyond anything you could ask for. Thank you.

After a series of falls at her home and a short stay at hospital, we moved my mother into Woodfield Court with the idea that it would be a temporary arrangement, to beef her up before she returned home. The manager there couldn’t have been more helpful and made the task easy.
So mum moved in, and
we were immediately aware of what a thoughtful and caring bunch of people they are. Woodfield Court gave us a special treat in allowing us to have Christmas lunch with mum; it was quite touching... so touching, that mum tearfully told us she loves it here, and she didn’t want to go home. So she stayed; Now 6 months on and she still loves it there.
It’s the staff that make Woodfield Court special; Always smiling, and nothing seems too much trouble. My mother loves the vast array of daily activities and is often tired but never bored. I’ve never had anything to do with care homes until now so feel unable to compare, but couldn’t wish for a better one.

They have looked after my mother superbly. She was happy there. The staff are caring and supportive. The mixing of those with dementia with those who are just frail is beneficial to both groups. I cannot thank them enough.

Can not thank all of the staff and careers for the support and understanding they have provided for my father over the last twelve months in what have been very challenging and difficult circumstances. Their understanding is second to none, they work well as a team whilst providing individual care to
their residents. I am a frequent visitor to the home and have never seen anything other than staff at all levels providing a first-rate and compassionate service.

My mum has been in Chilton Court Care Home for six months. Initially, she found it very difficult and it was not an easy decision but she lived on her own and there was no alternative. When the decision was made that she would not be able to return to her own home, my job was to find her the best possible
place and I believe I have achieved that. The staff are amazing. Nothing is too much trouble and they have all gone out of their way to help Mum to settle in. They have got to understand her needs and are able to support her. During this period she has been ill and the care shown was just superb. Chilton Court is a real family; the residents look out for each other. The activities are amazing and everyone is included. I have had two Sunday dinners with Mum which were very good. I would not hesitate in recommending this care home to anyone.

My father moved to Chilton Court Care Home for the last seven weeks of his life. The care he received was outstanding; kind, caring staff who always treated him with dignity. The staff also welcomed, at any time, the relatives and always engaged with us in relation to Dad's daily routine and we felt
we became part of the Chilton Court family. I would not hesitate to recommend this lovely facility.

My parents were admitted to Chilton Court Care Home as they both required more support than they were receiving from the four times a day carer visits at home.
After a video tour, we selected Chilton Court for respite care prior to a move to Sussex. The whole admission process was undertaken with great
sensitivity and professionalism. Mum and Dad were welcomed and made to feel at home and after their first three days are already beginning to settle in and giving very positive feedback.

Having been trying to move Dad for nearly two years, when it finally happened, we were very apprehensive. However, we soon realised with what we observed and what Dad was saying (that he was now in a place, and not as he previously said, in the other home that it was a prison)! The staff are all very
caring and compassionate. Residents have activities that can join in with. It is always clean, neat and tidy. It is home from home, and in my opinion, Dad is being cared for by the best team ever!

My mother moved to Chilton Court Care Home in late 2020. It was important to all our family for her to retain a sense of independence, so the opportunity to move into a house in The Courtyard was particularly welcome.
Since that time, Mum's needs have increased and I have been impressed at how staff
have constantly monitored how best to meet her needs, to make her feel at home and supported, sometimes going above and beyond to reassure her in her autonomy (though in truth she now needs a high level of support with dementia and physical frailty advancing.).
There is a low level of staff turnover which helps Mum as she knows her carers and they are aware of her likes and needs. Throughout the pandemic, I have been able to visit as staff recognised that my attendance was vital to Mum's wellbeing.
Mum is fond of the staff and often comments that nothing is too much trouble.
Other factors conducive to her wellbeing are the excellent food and busy activities programme.
I could say so much more.

We sought urgent help a year ago for my elderly mother-in-law as she was no longer able to live safely at home even with regular care and support. She had limited mobility, very poor eyesight and a poor memory in addition to general frailty. Due to the pandemic, we couldn't visit care homes to assess
them - but fortunately, my mother-in-law's GP was able to provide a (very) short list of recommendations. It took less than 24-hours from initial contact with Chilton Court Care Home to my mother-in-law being admitted - amazing at any time but especially in the middle of a pandemic! We genuinely thought that Chilton Court was excellent - the staff were very friendly and caring and looked after all the residents very well - nothing was too much trouble. It took a few weeks for my mother-in-law to settle in, but she came to enjoy the food and the various activities on offer and would comment that 'they look after me very well here'.

Dad has been a resident for just over two years, and he seems to enjoy what the home has to offer. Staff always seem friendly, helpful and attentive. Would be nice if they wore a uniform. This did happen during early 2021 but recently has stopped. I, as a visitor, take care, I think they should also.

Reply from Simon Gibbs, Manager at Woodfield Court

Thank you for your feedback. Staff have worn uniforms or changed clothes when they arrive and leave the home during the pandemic, but in normal times, we do not. The reason for this is that we feel a uniform becomes a barrier between the resident and the staff member, we are trying to create a family feel within the home and feel a uniform can get in the way of this.

All the staff were friendly. Mum was treated with dignity, when they felt she needed medical assistance her wishes were granted and they supported her throughout. It is an old Victorian house so the rooms are small, the only downside means the toilet and washing facilities made the room even smaller.
Every member of staff knew her name and were always polite when we visited (which unfortunately was limited due to Covid but then no one (staff or residents) contracted it.)
