Absolutely fantastic care home, staff are all so kind and spend time with the residents. My dad is like a different person since moving to the meadows. The food is so good and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Highly recommend.

My dad went to Osbourne Court in January 2023 because he couldn't live at home anymore but he was so happy at Osborne Court. All of the management and carers were so good, they always had a laugh with Dad every time they went into his room. They always came out smiling and laughing where he was making
them laugh. He was so happy there, we all had some good times and laughs with him. We all miss him very much and he was very much loved by his family and Osbourne Court but sadly passed away on the 25th of May 2024. We will miss you, dad but we know that you are at peace now, love you so much dad with lots of love, we will miss you.

I can't thank the staff at The Meadows enough. My mum was in a terrible state when she first arrived, underweight and totally confused and depressed. Their care, patience and fabulous food has made such a difference. Now Mum is happy, eating well and loving the friends that she has made there and the
activities they share. They have achieved more than I thought possible. The staff that I have met there are all genuinely lovely.

My father has been a resident since April 2021. He has dementia/Alzheimer's. The manager is very experienced and always professional. The manager as are the care staff, is very thorough, accommodating, helpful, patient and kind. The food and Dad's room are excellent. I would have no hesitation in recommending
this care home.

The Meadows

from Adrian W (Son of Resident) published on 10 September 2021

My mother received the highest possible standard of care throughout her long stay in The Meadows. All her personal needs, both physically and medical were provided to maintain her wellbeing. As her needs changed with age and mental deterioration, appropriate adjustments were made to keep her comfortable.
The staff maintained continuity of relationships with her on a day to day basis. Communication between the management and myself was maintained efficiently during the difficult period of Covid. I found this very reassuring. At no time over the many years did I feel any anxiety or worry, and this is a great credit to all involved with her care.

Reply from Richard Deverson, Ops Director at The Meadows

It is a rare privilege to provide care to one individual over such a long period and to be able to continue that care as her needs increased. The team at Windmill House remember her fondly; when the time was right for her to be cared for at The Meadows, the continuity in that care continued with familiar faces and the high standards that she enjoyed so much.
From all the team who have cared for her over the years, many thanks to you and all the family for the faith and trust you put in us all; we will miss her.

Having researched care homes across South Gloucestershire for my mum, I found The Meadows, Yate. Until this point, I began to form an opinion where all this was taking me, alas my cautious mind was rewarded. I was greeted with a fresh approach, unseen before, taking me on a journey of discovery of how
a care home is supposed to be managed. The clean smell alone was delightful, I found myself walking into a place where I felt I wanted to be, a positive start. Over several visits, including one for Mum, meeting staff from all levels was one of sheer delight. We knew we had found a place where Mum would be looked after extremely well. We began daycare, over time it was very clear Mum was settling in and enjoying, without doubt, it was the best place for Mum and later offered residency. Sadly, no longer with us, Mum was given the best care home experience anyone could ever wish for. On behalf of family and friends, I would like to thank you all for an amazing job well done.

Reply from Richard Deverson, Ops Director at The Meadows

Thank you for taking the time to send in this review. We were privileged to care for your mother when she needed us and we enjoyed the positive interaction with you as a family. Everyone at The Meadows recognises the importance of close family who often become a significant part of the care 'team'. This made the last 16 months so much more challenging - though by continuing to work together and throughout communicate effectively by whatever means we could, you remained involved, even at the most difficult time. Many thanks again, Tim. With love and best wishes from all the team at The Meadows.

Very informative, especially during the Corona pandemic. The staff extremely pleasant, and Mum loves it here. Her words to me were "home from home", which says it all.

Good afternoon Susan - thank you so much for taking the time to give this feedback to The Meadows. We consider our families part of the care team, and we have all felt the absence of visitors through the last year, and we look forward to seeing you all soon.
Regular and clear communication has been key to reassure and respond as soon as we have been able to as situations have changed.
Thank you again.

The Meadows have gone above and beyond all expectations. The staff are amazing and special thanks to three ladies who have gone over and above their normal duties to make mum and dad comfortable and happy in their new surroundings. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them. We would thoroughly recommend.

Words cannot express how grateful we are as a family for the care and love given to mum in the two years she was with The Meadows.
The relationship the staff managed to build with mum really was amazing, managing to get a little bit of our old mum back. I can only say that they are all truly extraordinary
people who go the extra mile with both the residents and families.

It was the hardest thing having to put Dad into a care home and when he went in his first one I hated leaving him there. They were OK, they did their best I thought but I kept wanting him near me where I live. I was so lucky to get him in The Meadows for once I could go home and not worry about him
and the staff were great with Dad. He came up and was so much better - we would go in and he had a wash and was out of bed which he didn’t want to do much. The carers were good to Dad and us as a family. The owners of the home put so much into it to make their life better.

My mother went here for a few weeks the staff couldn't do enough for her. Rooms are exactly what you want when you leave your own home. A room like home but this is more like a hotel great food staff that really care even the management are great there is always something going on, all the residents
seem to be very happy, I cannot thank them enough for looking after my mother and I mean all staff from top to bottom.

Reply from Richard Deverson, Operations Director at Windmill House

What a lovely place, Mum has settled in well and looks so much better, she has been to the hairdresser and chiropodist.
The staff are kind and caring and treat everyone with dignity.
Management have been very supportive, I have been in tears several times about making this decision, they have been
available at any time to answer my many questions.
The food is lovely with lots of drinks and tea and coffee made whenever she asks.
Beautiful en-suite room with a view of the garden, we have taken her chair and put up pictures.

Reply from Cheryl Wallace, Home Manager at Osbourne Court

Mum was a resident for a year until her recent passing.

She enjoyed her time here and loved sitting by her window looking out on the traffic. It made her feel she was still part of the world. Her room was lovely and well looked after.

The staff treated her with dignity and always had time to

sit and talk to her.

She enjoyed the food and often wanted seconds, not because the meals are small but because they were tasty.

She loved getting her hair done and having someone looking after her feet. She particularly loved seeing the aromatherapist. She also enjoyed the church services.

As a family, the standard of care meant we had peace of mind because we knew Mum was so well cared for. We also knew that we would have been contacted should anything happen.

I cannot praise the staff enough.

Go and visit and see for yourself.

My husband has been in Osbourne Court since January 2017 prior to that he was becoming very difficult to deal with, having suffered from Alzheimer's disease for several years.
He was difficult for the staff to deal with at first as he was very anxious and sometimes aggressive. However, they persevered
and his medication adjusted he became calmer and now seems quite content. Osbourne Court is an attractive building and the resident's en-suite rooms are very pleasant. Also, there is an outstanding area which can be used when the weather is good. The staff all seem very caring and willing to spend time with people and they all seem to get on well with each other, which I take to be a sign of good management.

Reply from Richard Deverson, Operations Director at Osbourne Court

Thank you for acknowledging the commitment from all the team at OC and the visiting professionals who worked together trying different clinical and caring approaches. It took time and with your support, we have been able to ensure all his days are as relaxed and fulfilling as possible.

I am happy with Windmill House care home in the way they care for my loved one. When dealing with the manager and assistant managers, I feel I am listened to and they carry out certain wishes that I ask for. However, I have a couple of frustrations. Despite asking for my loved one to have her hair done
in the hairdresser once a week, it does not always happen, even if I remind the care home the night before. I feel it very annoying having to wait a very long time sometimes to be let in the front door, especially when my loved one is with me because after all, this is her home.

Very friendly staff. The grounds were kept well maintained in a beautiful setting. My friend is very happy here. The only downfall was that it was not communicated that we were coming to visit and by the entrance, there was a step and another resident and family member needed my assistance to get her
wheelchair up the step. Health and safety issue! Thank you for allowing the dog to visit. My dad appreciated your staff shouting out 'aren't you gorgeous!'

Reply from Richard Deverson, Ops Director at Windmill House

Many thanks for your feedback and we are delighted that your friend is happy at the home. We welcome visitors at any time so please do not feel the need to call ahead first. Thank you also for the feedback on the single step in the hallway – when we refurbished the entire home in 2012, our architects and builders worked extremely hard to make the home single level as far as possible. The installation of 2 lifts achieve this including a sophisticated 4 stop lift to overcome one change in level. The charm of Windmill House is the historic nature of the entrance hall and to retain this, the small single step in the entrance had to stay – the alternative would have entailed the loss of the historic entrance door and remodelling of the whole entrance to the home and this was deemed too damaging to the home. When required there is alternative level access for wheelchairs to the left of the building and through a rear entrance from the garden – this will be highlighted to all visitors should the need arise again. We always welcome pets to the home and we are delighted that your father enjoyed this visit.

My mother moved to Osbourne Court in March 2010 and lived there until she passed away in Oct 16. Mum felt settled, content and very much 'at home' there. We knew that she was safe and well cared for in all respects which gave us great peace of mind. Mum was treated with dignity, respect, kindness and
patience by all staff. We were welcomed and knew that we could discuss any needs or concerns openly with staff and management.
They took the time to know mum as an individual and catered for her needs in a personalised way. Mum enjoyed the various activities which helped to keep her mind active. She enjoyed the food and the variety of meals.
When mum became ill in Sept 16, we took the decision that she should stay at Osbourne Court. We cannot praise the staff enough for the care and kindness shown throughout the last few weeks of her life. It was outstanding in every way; enhanced by the excellent relationships with the local GP and District nurses which ensured that mum was comfortable.

My mother-in-law has been at Osbourne Court for several months now. When she first arrived she was extremely disorientated and upset. This made her angry, uncooperative and difficult to work with. I have been so impressed with the patient, professional and very kindly attitude of the care staff who
have gradually won her trust and helped her to settle in her new home.
It is nice that on the upper floor has two lounges, allowing choice. Thought has been put into making it homely, with comfortable sofas, a mock solid fuel fire with mantelpiece above and also a piano nearby.
The bedroom is light and bright and kept clean. Meals are generally good, though perhaps a bit on the heavy side sometimes.
The management of the home is good with any issues quickly discussed and addressed. I do definitely feel that at this home staff really do care about the residents and want them to be happy in their home and for families to enjoy visiting their loved ones.
