9.5 Group Review Score (the average from all locations with a review score)
  • Care Homes Owned by Cornwallis Care Services Ltd
Cornwallis Care Services supports and cares for more than 300 people in its residential and nursing homes across Cornwall from Looe to St Ives.

Staff look to make improvements wherever they can and are never satisfied with the status quo. It ensures that everything it does is continually reviewed. Staff get regular feedback from residents, their families and visitors.

Staff help residents to live as independently as possible by being attentive to their individual needs. This ‘person centred’ approach enables staff to see life through the eyes of each resident, working with them and their family to understand their personality, preferences and background so that the care home can create a care plan that fits around their lifestyle and aims.

After a stay in hospital with a stroke my dad wasn't ready to go home so he went to Frances Bolithos. They were really flexible about when it was the right time in his recovery for him to move on, showing a real focus on what was best for him. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. It is not
five stars as we were told 3 different fees by 4 different people which is a bit frustrating (one was confused and the other three were talking about this years and next years fees). This caused my dad considerable confusion and some distress. Once he was in there were no more issues.

Have telephoned several times asking about my brother and have always received a pleasant and helpful reply. Thanks to the staff involved. On our visits staff have always been helpful and he appears to be settled, bless him. He is being fed and kept clean and tidy which he was not able to do when living
on his own, so thank you to all at Bolitho.

You couldn't wish for better care in the final days of my mum's life. Every member of staff was very kind and compassionate not only to Mum, but to all members of the family. In the time that Mum was a resident in Beech Lodge, she was treated in a very loving and caring way at all times.

Mum was well cared for by staff. They where always helpful, sometimes they were short of staff but always did what they could. Hygiene with morning cuppa not too good, biscuits placed on an unwiped table, no tea plate or serviette used.

My Stepfather first came to Rivermead View after a fall in September 2024 left him hospitalised and vulnerable. He moved into the care home in November and after 6 weeks of respite care, he decided this was the place he wanted to stay. The staff and management team are excellent. Nothing is too much
trouble. The food and facilities are great. Everything is thought of. Since being here my Stepdad is happy and well. I couldn't ask for more.

I have so much peace of mind seeing Mum safe and settled at Trecarrel. The staff are friendly, welcoming and caring. Due to risk of falls Mum has pressure mats and I am notified whenever she falls. Her lovely, personalised ensuite room is always clean and tidy, and when I left her today, she was sitting
in a sunny lounge with other residents, enjoying a sing-along accompanied by a keyboard player. I am reassured that any worries I have about Mum - her placement, her well-being or even the admin, are always addressed in a re-assuring and honest way. I'm glad Mum was referred to Trecarrel. It took her about 10 weeks to settle but she seems 'at home' now. Thank you!

Meadowbrook House

from Keith N (Son of Resident) published on 21 January 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

My mother seems settled, as we only visit at the weekend we don't see the activities. It would be good to see a timetable or schedule for these. I might have missed it (I appreciate also she cannot participate in some) but it would be good to know what she does other than sit in the TV room.
Staff
interact with her when we are there and she has drinks and snacks.
Where is the menu so we can use it as a topic for conversation?
She is always clean and has her nails done sometimes which is great.
Thank you for your care.

Reply from Marie Wilson, Home manager at Meadowbrook House

Thank you for your review. I will share your feedback with the team, I can confirm there is an activity timetable and lots of pictures of interactions on the large board as you enter the home. We are aiming to expand the activity team which will then allow more activities over the weekend. The menu you will find displayed in the dining area and we can offer a pictorial version, please do speak to the kitchen team who will be able to assist. Take care and thanks again.

Cowbridge Residential Care Home

from Deborah K (Daughter of Resident) published on 15 January 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

Well overall, pleased with dads care. All the carers very good and caring. My only concern has been all along is there never appears to be enough staff to allocate 10 minutes - 30 minutes per day to take dad for a long or short walk depending on how he feels. This greatly affects his mental health.
He is very independent still, but does love his walk each day. He requires very little care other than this. He has a 10 minute walk at the moment, just to get some fresh air and that's all. It is in his care plan, but wonder how much of this plan is followed. Also I have no way of checking what dads doing with the new computer system.

We were apprehensive when Mum went into the home, however, we are thrilled that she's in a home in the town she's lived in all her life. them with care, empathy and the utmost respect. Mum is very settled at Trewidden and loves her new home and for that, we cannot thank the staff enough. Thank you Trewidden.

My grandmother came into this care home towards the beginning of this year and she has settled in so well.
The home is always tidy and clean. The staff are so friendly and always in high spirits and spreading their happiness and smiles.
They have the most amazing team of staff, and host fabulous
events and things for other family members to attending, encouraging still being able to make wonderful memories!
They have a week planned of things to keep them occupied as well as pamper and nail/hair activities. She was even able to make me a Christmas tree decoration this year, which she loved doing!
This home is so welcoming and very good with communication about nan's well being and health.
