Mum has been in several care homes over the past 4 years since her stroke, some good and one not so good. But I have been so impressed with Sefton Hall since her arrival in Oct 2024. The best home by far that she and I have experienced.

My family and I are so grateful for the outstanding care that Sefton Hall staff provided for our dad during his short stay there. Sefton's 'Outstanding' CQC award and other awards are truly deserved. From the manager, admin staff, nurses, and care assistants to the cleaner, every single person provided
exceptional care and support for Dad and for our family.
From the moment Dad arrived at Sefton Hall, he was provided with the utmost respect, friendliness, care and compassion. He received an excellent standard of care from all staff. The staff, without exception, allowed Dad to be himself, to make his own choices and to maintain the highest level of dignity. As visitors, my sister and I were cared for and supported sensitively, particularly during the last few days of Dad's dementia journey and when he passed away. We could not have wished for more. Our only regret is that Dad didn't come to Sefton Hall earlier. Heartfelt thanks to all involved.

Following a fall at home in late 2023, several weeks in hospital, and a month in a care home for assessment, it became clear that Dad was not going to be able to manage at home anymore, not least because his condition had progressed to the point where he was no longer able to speak. We were so relieved
to find The Old Rectory. Its cosy, homely atmosphere was a stark (and positive) contrast to some of the other places we had visited. The staff took time to learn about Dad and his likes/dislikes so he could have his coffee the way he had always liked it (he had always hated tea but the assessment place always gave him tea instead of coffee, then wondered why he wasn't drinking!). Dad's condition progressed more rapidly than expected, but the staff were so kind and caring. They kept us updated with his medical needs and were always welcoming when we visited. As he neared the end of his life it was so comforting that he could stay where he was, without having to go into hospital.

I can't thank The Old Rectory team enough for their exceptional care and kindness to my dad and our family. From our first visit, the staff reassured us with their warmth and professionalism, making the difficult decision of moving Dad into care easier.
The nurses went above and beyond, offering compassionate
advice and expert care for his medical needs. The activity coordinators brought so much joy, encouraging Dad to participate in ways he never had before. Their personal touches, like remembering our names and sharing stories, truly meant the world to us.
Every team member was kind, attentive, and compassionate. Knowing my dad spent his final months feeling loved and cared for is a comfort I'll always hold onto. If you're looking for a place where your loved one will be treated with genuine care and respect, I wholeheartedly recommend The Old Rectory.

This is my second review, four years after my first one, which I wrote soon after my mother arrived at Parkwood House. She died a peaceful, dignified death in May 2024, two days shy of her 98th birthday. I have nothing but praise for the way my mother was looked after, and loved, while at Parkwood House.
A courageous, independent lady, she initially requested to be taken to Switzerland for euthanasia if she could not return home. As she was blind, with delirium and other difficulties the latter was not possible so it was up to the staff to cope, which they did kindly, with compassion, with humour, and with endless patience. There were falls, there were mental meltdowns and difficult episodes, it was never easy, which leaves me all the more indebted to this wonderful nursing home. Knowing she was in the best possible place took a huge weight off my mind. My sister and I could enjoy visiting our mother while her multiple needs were expertly taken care of. Thank you.

My mum had to move into this care home when my dad passed away as, at the time, we were not in a position to care for her ourselves as she has multiple sclerosis (MS). Mum was in The Seaton for 8 months and we cannot fault the care, genuine respect and kindness given to her and other residents during
her stay. It has a very relaxed and homely feel to it with lots of activities for residents to participate in. As a daughter visiting my mum, all the staff were so friendly to me and I felt like part of the family too. All the staff were sensitive in accommodating Mum's needs and abilities and she thoroughly enjoyed herself while staying there. You only had to see the smile on her face and the constant credit she gave to the carers. Mum is now accommodated for by ourselves but she and we cannot praise the hospitality and care that was given to her enough. All the staff are a true credit to this home.

My mother was sent here when it was found her cancer treatment wasn't working and was for end-of-life care. This was January 2023, and she was there up till the time of her passing in June 2024. I can honestly say, the dedication, respect, and level of care we saw given is the best you could possibly
find anywhere. Mum never once asked about her house once she was there. It became home to her so quickly. The residents are constantly checked in on, to make sure they are OK, if not in a communal area, and asked if they need anything, regardless of whether it is that staff member's patient or someone else's. The whole atmosphere from the top to the bottom is that this is our home, and the residents are all family. When Mum was towards the end, you could see how upset they were at the thought of losing her, and more than a few tears were shed by the staff. I honestly cannot express in words the gratitude I have to them all for making her time there such a happy and contented one.

Both my parents spent their last months in The Old Rectory and passed away here. The level of love and care shown to not just them but the rest of the family was exceptional. Not just that but the entertainment, stimulation and fun provided enabled them to live their lives to the full right until the
end. We will always be so grateful to all the wonderful staff.

The Old Rectory is not a modern deluxe home, it is old, cosy and comfortable. It oozes charm and interest. The staff will become like your family and will try to satisfy your requests however challenging. Their catering is excellent with cake and biscuits! You will certainly find things to do, a.m excercises,
p.m making fruit kebabs. One week you will be visited by birds of prey, the next, a python. They have every type of music and quizzes.

The Old Rectory describes itself as more a 'household' than a 'care home' - and I would agree with this. We found it cosy, relaxed and happy. Mum lived there for 14 months. She had dementia, mobility and communication difficulties. During her time at The Old Rectory her speech, mobility and appetite
all improved. More importantly she felt loved and was happy - and loved the staff back. They responded to her love of music and dance so that there were many many times of fun and laughter for her. Unexpectedly my father became terminally ill during the last year and the staff were able to accommodate his wish to move into the room next door to Mum - bringing the family settee so that they could snuggle up together. As a family we were able to completely relax in the knowledge that all was well with our parents whilst in their care.

My relative has been a resident at Parkwood since November 2019. In all that time I have been exceptionally pleased with the care and support provided to them and to me and my family.
I know my relative is very well cared for and the staff have an excellent understanding of their needs and have managed
their dementia with love, care and when relevant humour, particularly when they can be challenging.
I am kept informed of any changes and can sleep peacefully at night knowing that my relative is in a safe place and that all staff at Parkwood are committed to providing the best care and support possible.
It truly is a family and I feel blessed that my relative is living there.

Viewed the Home for a friend - I met the manager first, she was very professional and friendly and answered many questions. I left feeling happy that my friend would be well cared for and looked after if she decided to go there. All staff I saw that day, were friendly and smiling. Residents looked happy.
It was clean and homely. The social media page gives a great feel for all they do there, lots of fun.
On the day she moved there, all went to plan and a great idea to bring her over so she could have lunch with others. It was lively with a professional singer as she went into the lounge area, a lovely atmosphere. There is also another lounge more peaceful and a lovely meeting area with a coffee machine and a beautiful fish tank. The staff were always polite and friendly. The first few days were tricky for my friend to settle in, but when she was used to it, she really enjoyed her time there and even ended up on the front page of the newsletter with their resident tortoise Nugg.

Parkwood House was my relative’s final abode. She died peacefully there in October after a short decline in her health. She had a strange feature in her dementia in that she knew she had it. She was also very aware of her situation and was able to recognise that she was safe and very well cared for.
Her death was somewhat unexpected, and the level of care that she had received was reflected in the response of the staff to her death. Quite a few people were very emotional across levels of the staff. This, was for me, a real comfort and demonstration of their affection for her. They also showed our family a great deal of support with wonderful personal stories of time spent with her. Parkwood did so much to look after her well. They handled her death and life sensitively and thoughtfully helped us cope with the process.
I have every confidence that this is an excellent care facility where residents and their families are treated with high regard and great dignity by all staff. It is a special family.

Carers are supportive and proactive. They are smiley and yet professional, encouraging rather than demanding. The extra activities are varied, and carers encourage residents to take part. Families and friends are also welcome.

Mum has been at The Seaton Nursing Home for over 6 years, during which her health has deteriorated, especially with the diagnosis of vascular dementia. The Seaton has dealt with these changes expertly and at all times the staff are professional, friendly, attentive and caring.
Sadly, Mum now has no
mobility or speech. Yet even now she is always well dressed every time we visit.
It is clearly a very well-run place and a very welcoming one too. Staff are quick to offer visitors a cuppa, which is welcome, and have often offered lunch to my elderly father who visits – this goes beyond what one might expect.
The staff are always very encouraging of my requests to take Mum out (by car in the early years and latterly by wheelchair) to town, which is nearby, and to the seafront. In addition, staff take her out themselves from time to time.
Choosing a home is a daunting and worrying thing; we made the right choice and have no hesitation in highly recommending this nursing home to others.

Unfortunately, due to health care needs which we could no longer meet at home, the decision was made that Mum needed specialist care. I visited a few homes but none stood out as much as The Old Rectory. After a chat with one of the lead nurses and a tour of the home, I knew straight away that this was
the place I wanted Mum to go. The Old Rectory has a lovely homely feel to it, no uniforms for staff, the place is decorated brightly, rooms with lots of natural light, fresh home cook meals and so many friendly staff. The process of getting Mum into the home was so simple and on the day of Mum's arrival immediately put my dad's mind at rest. This was the first time they had been apart for over sixty years, he left not in tears but knowing Mum was going to be well looked after. This opinion never changed. The staff team are amazing and do an incredible job. For looking after mum we say a massive thank you.

When it became apparent, in late Autumn 2023, that my mum needed 24-hour care, my wife and I visited several homes with a view to covering this need. The Old Rectory stood out from all the other care homes we visited in a hugely positive way.
The whole atmosphere of The Old Rectory, from the moment
we entered, was friendly, helpful and very obviously focused on those being cared for. There were wonderful displays throughout the building and activities taking place involving those with a whole range of care needs and helping them all to feel part of the family. Interestingly, The Old Rectory is called a ‘household’ rather than a ‘care home’ and the difference was very evident.
Mum was looked after by extremely empathetic nurses and assistants who deserve a great deal of thanks for the way they looked after her every need. We can feel at peace in the knowledge that The Old Rectory was absolutely the best place for Mum to be for her final few weeks of life. Thank you all very much.

Over the past three years, Mum lived the best life she could here thanks to the excellent care and staff. As her Alzheimer's progressed and she became more frail, the staff always adapted to her needs. Mum clearly enjoyed the many activities, including music, animal encounters, crafts and trips out
to the beach. The staff work so hard to create a homely and friendly environment for residents. It was also a comfort to know nurses were on site if needed. I wish all residential care homes could be like this.
