My family and I never wanted my Mum to go into a Care Home but her Dementia was getting too difficult for us to manage at home. Mum became a resident at Mockley Manor over 2 years ago and we couldn't be happier with the care she is receiving. The Manager is always available to help us with any queries,
the Recetionist always assists my Dad when I'm unable to take him, the carers are just amazing and treat Mum like a member of their own family. I wish I could mention all the staff individually as each and everyone of them goes above and beyond. Mockley Manor is always clean, well maintained and it feels so welcoming whenever I visit. The staff not only look after my Mum but also look after us as a family and treat us with care and compassion. The home is full of love and laughter and I wouldn't want my Mum to be anywhere else other than Mockley Manor. Thank you for everything you do.

Both of my parents have been residents at Mockley Manor within the past year with very different needs, but they have each received very good care.
The home has high standards and is run very efficiently. The rooms and communal areas are pleasant, clean and well maintained. The care staff are hard
working, well trained and very respectful.
My mum arrived at Mockley Manor with very advanced dementia and she was provided with the right environment to ensure her final few months were very comfortable.
My Dad continues to feel secure and well cared for and speaks highly of the care staff and management team, who are very approachable, patient and professional and have many years of experience between them. I feel confident that he's in safe hands.

I feel that the staff offer emotional support as well as personal support as my mother in law is blind and often suffers with her mental health. The home is kept clean and always smells amazing not like other residential homes. Great home cooked meals cater for all needs.

The care home management and staff are amazing and so patient. My mum is blind and struggles to move around freely. She can be difficult and does not want to be in a care home. The staff always treat my mum with dignity and loving care. If any adjustments are required, management are always supportive
and quick to implement. Downs View is a very special place.

My sister been there few months and I found there is no hand gel in dispensers or bathroom , or tissues on tables for residents the residents eat before cleaning hands n never yet seen staff clean their hands between residents , I find this the only problems as staff are caring food looks lovely n warm
with lovely garden but hygiene issue needs to be looked into I have spoken to staff but the manager is not there weekends when we visit

Reply from Kirsty Jones, Home Manager at Woodstock Nursing Home

Thank you for your kind comments about our caring staff, food quality and garden which the residents are looking forward to using more now that the weather is improving. Caring for loved ones is absolutely what we are here for and enjoy so much. Thank you for your observations of the mealtime experience, we have taken these onboard and will continue to monitor the situation, unfortunately we cannot leave tissues out permanently due to our residents vulnerabilities, wet wipes are available on the lunch trolley. If you would like to meet with me again please do not hesitate to call in Monday to Friday as I personally do 5 days/week. I can however be contacted on the telephone between 9am and 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday. I look forward to seeing you again soon.

I struggled with my father going into care home, for many reasons. The Manager and staff have been absolutely amazing, not only with the support they have given my father but myself and my family. They are so friendly and approachable, always answering my questions and if they can't they come back to
me asap. They always give me a update on my father, I'm well informed with his health and medication. My father's room is always clean and tidy. I love the personal touches from activities to celebrations, going the extra mile to provide my father with his favourite drinks, or making sure he's watching his favourite programme. The garden and outside area are well kept and a lovely area to spend quality time with my father. The most important thing for me is that I'm happy knowing my father is well looked after, and I can visit when ever we please. Friends have also commented how well my father is cared for and how welcoming all the staff are.
Thank you Downs View.

Church View Care Home

from A M (Daughter of Resident) published on 4 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5

My dad was resident at Church View this is a home for Dementia and Alzheimer's, yet the staff take offence to a 91 year old man swearing, name calling, and outbursts. Hold family accountable for his actions and us apologising constantly saying this so out of character of my dad. On occasions certain
staff being rude to family saying things like tell him to stop name calling and one member of staff saying do you think its nice the way your dad treats us. My reply was sorry but you should not be a Dementia carer with that attitude. To me they are not trained enough in dealing with elderly with Dementia, no compassion whatsoever. Staff need to be trained properly if working in this type of home, Dad had fall, split his head open. safety mat didn't go off, why? Paramedics tended to Dad and told staff to call community nurse to glue the gash. That didn't happen, dad was removed from the home, for his safety. Has now passed away two days ago. He will be buried with a black eye and a bad gash on forehead.

Reply from Natasha Dreyer, Marketing Manager at Church View Care Home

We understand that this was a very difficult time for you and your family and we are very sorry that your loved one had to leave our care at Church View as we were no longer able to meet his needs. Our staff are well trained in dealing with dementia and the elderly however, our staff are not trained with regards to challenging behaviour. This was recognised by the crisis team who felt that your Father would be more suitably treated / assessed in a specialist environment.
