My mother-in-law has been in Whim Hall for 2 years now and the treatment she receives is excellent. The staff are all very caring, patient and professional. They quickly deal with any queries I have. Her care is fantastic, I would recommend this care home to anyone who requires care for their loved
one.
They have a great partnership with the GP's and treatment has been quick when GP has been needed.
A fabulous team - keep up the excellent care.

My mum has been a resident in Whim Hall since January 2023. I am pleased to say the standard of care my mum has received is excellent. The staff, including the manager, go above and beyond what's expected of them. I have personally experienced this. I got married last year and the manager assisted my
mum to my wedding on her day off.

The atmosphere in the home is always positive, happy and supportive. My mother likes the activities, particularly the parties! Whenever I see my mother she reports that she is happy and enjoying herself, and I enjoy my visits. I always leave with a smile on my face. The staff are obviously motivated
to maintain the positive and supportive environment and work hard at doing so.

Mum's mobility has been deteriorating over a couple of years but noticed a greater decline these last two to three months. Living at home was becoming harder as bedrooms were upstairs which was a chore in itself, and the toilet was on the ground floor. It got so bad that Mum needed to be admitted to
a hospital and then a community hospital for her own safety until a place became available in care. After only three weeks a place became available in Buccleuch Care Home, which we accepted. The staff were really friendly and made her welcome. Mum has fitted in well.

It
is great to have such a brilliant place to ensure my granny's safety, giving the family peace of mind that she is being well looked after. Nothing but praise for everyone concerned.

The care my mother has received from St Margaret's has been second to none, my mother seems very happy and content. She has taken a real shine to a carer. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the building is clean, warm and fresh and the meals are excellent. My mother enjoys every meal.

My mother has moved into the home in the last few months, I imagine this is a difficult transition for any family but Mum seems to have settled in as well as she could have. I feel that the home management and staff have all tried very hard to settle her into her new home.
I'm sure they could benefit
from more staff numbers as they all seem to work very hard.

Lovely and friendly, homely, clean care home. The staff are very friendly, helpful and easy to talk to, they take great care of my dad, thoughtful of his needs and encourage him to keep mobile but are there on hand to help, he also enjoys the meals and is encouraged with liquids. All in all cannot fault
this place.

My mum became a resident at Buccleuch at the start of June 2024 and settled in very quickly. The staff are fabulous and the home is a nice place to be. The social interaction with other residents has been very positive for Mum and she spends all day in the communal areas. The meals are very good and
the residents are well-catered for at all times. The bedroom and en-suite facilities are comfortable. It's good to see that my mum's move to a residential home has been so positive at this stage of life and this has been helped by the positive nature of the staff and the help they provide as well as the facilities that the home offers.

Fantastic care home. My grandmother has been in Buccleuch for a number of years and is very happy with the care she receives every day, the staff are friendly and welcoming to all family members and look after granny like she is their granny which is lovely. Granny always has stories about the fun she
has been having with staff and her friends.
All staff go above and beyond for residents and families.

My mother is very comfortable in her home at the Buccleuch and has been for years. The staff know and take care of her extremely well and are always welcoming when I visit. The management and staff keep me informed and are always approachable and helpful if I have any concerns. I truly appreciate their
hard work and feel lucky that my mother is so content in their care.

My Mother has been in care at the Buccleuch since March 2024. She has settled in very well. The staff have got to know her and the family very well. My mum likes her room very much. She is making new friends and always tells us when we visit that the staff are very nice. My mum takes part in a lot of
the activities and really enjoys it. There always seems to be plenty going on to keep the residents busy and active. She also loves the meals and says the food is good. The staff are doing a great job looking after my mum.

Dad has been there for three months now, and we couldn't be happier with the care he is receiving.
It was a big move for us at the time, but when visiting, we can see how happy and well looked after he is. He has dementia but always tells me how much he likes being where he is, he is eating much more
now, and it's a great relief to know that after being on his own there are carers there full time making sure he is ok.

My uncle was very anxious about going into Buccleuch Care Home after being with his wife in their current home for over 60 years, having said that, the care staff and management have made him very welcome, and he's settled in very well. He joins in with activities daily and likes to sit out in the garden
on sunny days. When my aunt and I visit, we are made very welcome by the staff who are all very friendly.

Whim Hall Care Centre

from Sarah D (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 7 February 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5

I’m ashamed that Whim Hall is still receiving more people to live there. It lacks direction from the management, the knowledge to simply care for a person with dignity and compassion. My father-in-law was stripped of his dignity and the will to live. We had no choice but to removed him from there,
but sadly he has died since. Whim Hall is a disgrace.

Reply from Stephanie Brookes-Kent, Recruiter Manager at Whim Hall Care Centre

We are sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction with the care that we provided and the loss of your loved one.
We understand the importance of dignity and respect in caring for our residents, and we take any concerns regarding this matter very seriously. We always investigate any shortcomings in our service, and welcome the Care Inspectorate into our home to ensure that we are always meeting their guidelines. Further to this, we carry out extensive internal auditing to ensure that we are maintaining our standards at all times. All of our staff in our homes receive training in how to treat and care for our residents during their stay with us.
We will take on board your feedback and are actively examining our training and values to reinforce the significance of dignified care and to prevent similar experiences in the future.
If you would like to reach out and contact me, Tracy Atkins, Chief Operating Officer, directly to discuss this in further detail, please contact our head office.

from Pauline T (Daughter of Resident) published on 19 July 2023
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

My mother has been in residential care for almost two years. The staff have got to know her and our family well over this period. They are fond of her, and in the early stages of her being in the home, we could tell she too bonded with the staff. She is now almost nonverbal and, along with her Alzheimer's,
has little in the way of communicating. However, the staff still treat her with respect and dignity and chat away to her. As a family, we know she is very well cared for.

My mother-in-law has been in Buccleuch Care Centre for six months now, and the care she receives has been outstanding. Having previously been told by doctors that she was end-of-life and had no hope of recovery - the staff have completely brought her back to life! She has gained weight, looks well and
healthy and has all of her needs met. Above all, the staff care for her like they are family and go above and beyond to make sure she is happy and comfortable. We are supported as a family to enjoy visiting and always kept informed of any changes to her care. Thank you to all the staff at Buccleuch.
