Staff are very sociable towards my dad, he's well looked after and very well fed. Plenty of activities for my dad to get involved with too. Lovely clean room too.
Dad alway looks happy and has a good laugh with the staff. There's plenty of reception rooms for him to choose from.

Our uncle has not been at Bryn Edwin Hall Residential & EMI Care Home long but he has settled in well and he is enjoying having the company of people of a similar age.
He has become much more sociable which is lovely to see. All the staff we have met, so far, have been warm, friendly and helpful.
He is eating and drinking well and is being kept safe from falls. His bedroom is a good size with an en-suite bathroom and a nice view. Knowing that our uncle is being well cared for in a safe environment gives us peace of mind and reassurance. Thank you all for looking after him and keeping him safe.

My mum has been a resident at Bryn Edwin Hall Residential & EMI Care Home for three years now. The care she receives is fantastic. Despite her challenging behaviours, the whole team continue to treat her with patience, kindness, dignity and with a smile on their faces. They get to know their residents
so well that they know immediately if there are any issues and escalate appropriately. Not only do the staff look after Mum, they always have time to talk to me and, as a child of a parent with dementia, this is priceless. Thank you all for your support.

Reply from Leanne Hough, Manager at Bryn Edwin Hall Residential & EMI Care Home

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. It is truly our privilege to care for your mum and we are so pleased to hear that you feel she is receiving fantastic care. We understand how challenging it can be for families when a loved one is living with dementia and we're glad to hear that our team's support and communication have been helpful to you. Your appreciation means so much to us, it motivates us to continue giving our best each day. Thank you again for your trust and for sharing such lovely feedback. Everyone in the home is so helpful and supportive. It's good to see the continuity of staff. The staff are professional and always on hand, either in person or on the telephone or via the portal, with any queries we may have. My mother has settled in very well and they take the stress away, knowing
my mother is being well cared for. The activities provided by the staff are appreciated, always helping to keep patients occupied throughout the day.

Residents are left unattended for extended periods. Hamlet residents are left for at least 30 minutes behind a coded door during the transition between day and night staff. The manager acknowledged the need for staff training on managing challenging behaviours, something that should arguably be a fundamental
requirement in the job description. Unfortunately, if a resident does not remain compliant, they seem to be unwelcome. The response of saying sorry, we couldn't meet your father's needs, is deeply inadequate - especially given the distressing reality that their handling of his situation nearly resulted in severe harm during his eviction while unwell. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this home for your loved one!

Reply from Leanne Hough, Manager at Bryn Edwin Hall Residential & EMI Care Home

In response to your latest review. Following an assessment by an external professional, it was determined that your Father required nursing care. As our home is registered to provide care for residents with residential or EMH needs, accommodating nursing care would have been beyond the scope of our registration. Providing such care would not only breach our regulatory requirements but also risk compromising the quality and safety of care for all our residents. All our staff receive extensive training tailored to meet the needs of our residents, including managing challenging behaviours with empathy and professionalism. This ensures that we maintain a safe and supportive environment while operating within the parameters of our registration.

My father became a resident in June 2024 and have previously attended an activity morning once a week. He has settled well, reviews and regular communication systems are in place and the staff are welcoming and receptive. Dad's level of care is very good and he responds well to the staff who treat him
as an adult and have given him particular jobs to do in an established routine which is important to him.

My relative is cared for with respect and dignity. The food served is all cooked on-site and of a good standard. The staff are attentive to ensure that adequate help is given with meals and that residents drink plenty. This has particularly helped my relative as in their previous home they lost weight
and were prone to urine infections.
The home is in an old building which needs updating and improving. Work on this has recently started which was needed.
Staff are always welcoming and considerate towards my relative's spouse when visiting, who has their own care needs too.

My mother has been a resident for a few years and requires support for health and hygiene. I have found Bryn Edwin Hall Residential & EMI Care Home staff caring and attentive and believe Mum to be happy in her environment. Although would wish Mum to be able to live independently and support herself
in her own home, this is not possible but Bryn Edwin provides the next best thing.

Dad is well looked after and enjoys his time at Bryn Edwin Hall Residential & EMI Care Home. There are lots of activities and group-involved tasks but they also have their own space if required. Staff are great and if any issues they resolve them quickly. The new outside area will be good for the residents

I am thoroughly impressed with the care provided at Bryn Edwin Hall Residential & EMI Care Home. From the moment I first visited, it was clear that this is a facility that truly prioritises the well-being of its residents. The care plans are up-to-date and discreetly displayed in the room, ensuring
that the resident receives personalised attention tailored to their individual needs.
The staff are not only professional but genuinely caring. They go above and beyond to create a warm, welcoming environment where residents feel safe and valued. It's evident that the team is dedicated to making each day enjoyable for everyone in their care. There is always something going on to keep residents engaged, happy and mobile. Whether it's a group exercise session, a creative craft activity or a social event, there's something for everyone.
Overall, I cannot recommend Bryn Edwin enough. It's a place where residents are not only well cared for but are also treated with dignity and respect.

The recent inspection report is a picture of perfection, this is far from reality. They must have been well prepared.
This picture of perfection may be the case if the resident doesn't have behavioural issues, for which EMI care homes are supposed to be experienced and trained in. The staff here are
not at all. Favouritism with certain residents in decision-making is apparent.
My father was exited from the home in a panicked fashion to A&E a week before this inspection where he deteriorated hugely, after a number of weeks of a very badly handled situation. Second resident in a matter of months. Is this what it takes to paint the picture of perfection.

From what I saw on visiting I can't say I was at all impressed. Residents were left alone and some who couldn't stand trying to stand and falling, left for far too long, not being checked for over an hour. I understand homes are struggling for staff but this is not a safe environment

Unfortunately my experience of this home is not good. I would not recommend this home to anyone. How they get funded for EMI is beyond me as they cannot deal with basic EMI needs. Unless your relative sits still and doesn't move this is not the place for them.

This is a fantastic care home. The staff are friendly and caring. They build warm, positive relationships with residents based on trust. They go above and beyond to meet residents' needs and wishes. Residents are all treated with respect. My mum feels safe and secure there and feels like it is her home.
There is a good range of activities for residents. It is spotlessly clean and the rooms are decorated to a good standard. They have big grounds with lots of squirrels and birds to watch and there is a secure garden for residents. Mum has been very happy here and has nothing but good things to say about the place.
