My father spent a few weeks at The Lawns on end of life care. The level of care he received was excellent. All staff showed a high level of empathy and professionalism throughout his stay. What this meant to the family cannot be underestimated, knowing his last days were in comfort and pain free.

Dad who is 91 has been a resident now at the Lawns for 2 years. His care is second to none. Dads dementia is slowly changing and we as a family are grateful that this is his home now where he is cared for and wonderfully fed ( the food always smells delicious) . Dad is content and above all safe.
Everyone when you enter the Lawns smiles and acknowledges you and it is spotlessly clean. Thank you for looking after our dad.

Newstead House is a very well run home with a very pleasant feel to it that you appreciate as you arrive in reception. The residents rooms are really nicely decorated, and well maintained. Very clean, bright and welcoming. The recent addition of the refurbishments of the residents lounge creates a most
pleasant area to enjoy and has been compared to a good standard. The conservatory is another nice area to enjoy and spend time!

Astley Hall Care Home

from Dale E (Daughter of Resident) published on 3 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Aged 99, was admitted to hospital and deteriorated over 2 weeks. From there he moved to Astley Hall for 2 weeks respite care. He was so much happier with staff who really cared for him and had all his best interests at heart. He celebrated his 100th birthday after 3 days and he managed to enjoy having
a few close family members around him during the afternoon. The chef prepared a lovely assortment of afternoon-tea sandwiches, salad, savoury rice, cakes and scones for the visitors to enjoy. Although he was frail, he was able to sit in a comfy recliner chair, propped up with pillows to hear all the staff sing Happy Birthday to him. The staff were all so kind, warm, thoughtful and caring.
Unfortunately, Alfred went down hill and died a few days later. The staff made sure we knew the prognosis and kept us fully informed so we were able to be with him. He was treated with so much respect and consideration. They helped up through the journey and offered us lots of support.

Reply from Jayne Rose, Administrator at Astley Hall Care Home

My mother was in the care home for 10 months and was reluctant to go in there. The home catered for all her needs and she came out of her shell. During her final month there (February) they couldn't do enough for her and were very attentive and caring. They catered for any food she wanted and during
her last few days were exceptional, constantly checking on her when she was confined to bed with the utmost respect.
If I ever have to go into a home I wouldn't hesitate to go into this one.

West Eaton Nursing and Residential home

Our friend came to West Eaton after a lengthy stay in hospital.
From the moment of his arrival the staff were kind , attentive and welcoming and had arranged his favourite beer which meant so much at the time.

Our friend was only in the home for 14 weeks but during that time he was able to have

somewhere he could call home . He loved the freshly homely cooking and had everything he needed in his room.

We can't thank the staff enough for all they did to make those 14 weeks comfortable for him. From the maintenance man to the cleaners , the cooks and nursing staff , everyone delivered outstanding care with love , compassion and dignity at all times.

We highly recommend the home from the experience we have had.

My brother has been at the manor for about 3 months and he has settled in completely - this is a testament to the excellent, professional care and that staff genuinely care about the welfare and happiness of the residents. In the background so to speak, the rooms and facilities are very well kept. The
meals and food and ample opportunity for residents social interaction if wished. Also in this background is a comforting, lasting hint of the manor and grounds grand past.

My mom came into The Lawns in November 2024 due to failing sight. The home and staff have bent over backwards to accommodate Mom's issues as she also has a complication called Charles Bonnett Syndrome. After 3 room moves we got a room that is perfect for Mom. All the staff, including housekeepers and
catering have learnt about Mom's issues so they can support her better.
I couldn't ask for better for Mom.

We were lucky enough to have Mum transferred to The Lawns from the hospital, where she had been for 2 weeks in a tiny room. She was told there was nothing that could be done to cure her. And she was end of life.
From the moment Mum went to The Lawns, she looked so much more comfortable. Her room was
bright and cheerful, clean and tidy. Mum was treated wonderfully. All the staff showed so much care and attention to Mum, giving me and my siblings a relief knowing when we left Mum she was so well cared for. Mum was very aware of what was happening and what was going to happen. Mum was kept clean and fresh and every bit of dignity was given to her. Mum was treated with so much care and compassion, right to the end. Can't thank the manager and her wonderful staff enough, as they helped us through saying goodbye to our Mum a little easier.

My 91 year old dad went into respite at The Lawns, 2 weeks ago after being fast tracked through due to another chest infection and being diagnosed as end of life. From day 1, The Lawns have provided the most incredible care and attention to dads needs. After being bed bound at home for 14 months, he
has been able to sit in a chair with the other residents, have a shower instead of bed bath, eat meals at the dining room table and have amazing social interaction from the team of staff and residents. His room is like a hotel room. Beautifully furnished for his personal belongings, TV on the wall and everything he could possibly need. The lawns is professionally and carefully run and the team led by Mel are incredible. I havn't seen dad so happy and content for a long time and its all due to his care received by this amazing Nursing Home. Thank you.

My grandmother was moved to Newstead at our request due to the previous home not being able to meet my grandmother's needs, the manager of Newstead is very passionate and dedicated to provide the correct environment and care that each resident requires she speaks very highly of the team of staff that
they have at Newstead and it's very obvious that staff have been there for a long time with little temporary staff required, which is beneficial for my grandmother and for the families. Always feel welcome when visiting my grandmother. My grandmother enjoys the activities that Newstead has to offer.

My wife has been a resident at Astley Hall for nearly five years and in all that time I've witnessed compassion dignity and dedication from all the staff. I visit my wife three or 4 times a week there is always a drink on her table the staff regularly pop into her room to check on her well-being. There
are activities in the lounge if my wife doesn't want to participate a member of staff comes to her room for a chat and a singalong or a pampering session.
There is a lovely atmosphere the staff are always willing to answer any questions. The food is very good and the staff are always cleaning. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Astley Hall to anyone whose loved one needs the care that my wife receives. I can't thank you enough.

West Eaton Nursing and Residential home

from Andrew K (Son of Resident) published on 22 January 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My Mother has been a resident at West Eaton for several years now and from my observations I must say that the care she has received has been of an exceptionally high standard. There is a community and homely feel to West Eaton and all the Care, Nursing, Catering and Admin staff work together to provide
a very personal service and program to the residents. The building and setting are also well suited to the residents' needs and are well maintained. Although my mother is really very frail now there is a good balance between stimulation and engagement and private time and rest. This balance is actively reviewed by the staff from time to time and communication with the family has been great.
Visits, crafts and music etc are clearly very actively planned by the staff so that options are available and suited to the needs of individual residents. In my mother's case this, I believe, has played a significant role in her comfort and contentment as her dementia has progressed.

Recently had a bereavement with the friend that I visited on a regular basis. The Lawns communicated that my friend had sadly deteriorated. My father entered The Lawns for "end of life care". The quality of the care he received from all of the staff on the nursing floor was amazing. My father was bedridden which limited what he was able to do. However, the home offered person-centered care and the staff spent time talking to him about his

Astley Hall Care home is brilliant. It is located in a pleasant country area surrounded by a lovely garden. I visited my sister earlier this month to bring Christmas presents and check on her well-being. I visit as often as I can, living some distance away in London. I sense that my sister is in the
best place possible, given her condition. What I do witness and see, also through being in constant contact with her husband who visits her regularly, is just how good the staff care is there! They appear kind, assertive and very professional. When they enter my sister's room she lights up at their presence. The food is very good and the atmosphere feels friendly. I would like to thank the staff for going that extra mile and making me feel that Astley Hall is the right place for my dear sister to be. Thank you so much!
