During the time my mother spent at Moundsley Hall, I was kept up to date with regards to the treatment that my mother was receiving and members of the staff were always willing to answer any questions put to them. The staff ratio was good, but at times could have perhaps interacted more with the residents,
although activities are provided on a regular basis. The house was always kept in a clean and respectable condition including the outside grounds, it was also beautifully decorated at Christmas and Halloween a credit to the staff involved. Any concerns with the facilities in my mother's room were dealt with in a timely manner.
Mom was given all the nursing care that she needed towards the end of her life and saved the trauma of being transferred to hospital. We were very happy with all the communication about the care during that difficult period even being contacted by off-duty staff to pass on their condolences.
Overall very happy with the care mom received at Moundsley Hall.

Buckingham House

My mum has been a resident at Buckingham House since June 2024 and my late dad also lived there for several months in 2021-22 before he sadly passed away later in 2022.
The staff are all kind, friendly, helpful and have always treated my mum and dad with dignity, care and respect.
The building
is warm, clean and safe. For those residents able to enjoy them the surrounding grounds are lovely, with lawns, mature trees and a duckpond.
I am aware that there were problems at Buckingham House from 2023 to early 2024. However, these are definitely now in the past, thanks to the efforts of the recently-appointed manager and all the other staff, and in my opinion the latest CQC report published in June 2024 gives an accurate assessment of the current situation.

Our experience of Moundsley Hall, and specifically Kensington House, is very positive. The external grounds are always well-kept and provide a pleasant place to take Mom for a stroll when we visit.
The house itself is always neat and tidy. We always find Mom and all of the other residents to be clean
and well-dressed. The staff are attentive and engaging with both residents and visitors. We always receive a full and prompt reply to any queries we may have. We appreciate the effort put into the on and off-site activities which aim to provide the residents with fun experiences.

Our dear mom was transferred from a care home to Moundsley Hall. The manager visited Mom at her care home to assess her needs which was fantastic. We then dealt with the admissions person who went above and beyond in accepting our mom into their home. From the day we transferred Mom every aspect of
her care was five-star, the home is impeccably clean and well-appointed, five stars I would say, and I would recommend this home to anyone needing expert nursing care.

My father spent the last few months of his life at Moundsley Hall, after a terrible experience at another care home. The care he received at Moundsley Hall was outstanding and restored our faith in care homes in general.
The staff and leadership are kind, committed, and thoughtful. The atmosphere
of the home is positive, the relationships are warm and the standard of food and accommodation are great. The care and nursing teams gave our family lots of attention and support as my Father's dementia and health declined.
We could not recommend the home more, and we will miss seeing the wonderful team on our visits.

Reply from Kiran Kaur, Admissions Officer at Moundsley Hall Care Village

Thank you so much for your heartfelt review. We are truly grateful for your kind words. Our team strives to create a warm and supportive environment for both residents and their families, and it's wonderful to know that this made a positive impact during your father's stay. We are glad that the relationships formed during this time comforted your family. While we will miss seeing you as well, please know that our doors are always open, and you are welcome to visit anytime. Thank you again for your thoughtful feedback.

My dad has advanced dementia and has been in Buckingham House since Nov 2022. He has a clean, spacious room and the overall grounds and living spaces are all very clean and welcoming. Dad is given the support he needs and is included in activities where it is possible and when he is awake. These include
gardening, cooking and play activities.
The regular staff all know him, speak to him and understand his needs. Occasionally we get a hiccup when there are a lot of agency staff on shift who do not know him or odd jobs like changing room lightbulbs can take a few asks.
Overall I am pleased with his case and feel content that he is happy, safe and well cared for.
The team here work hard so a big thank you from me and the family.

Reply from Judy Cutt, Sales & Marketing Co-ordinator at Moundsley Hall Care Village

Thank you for your positive feedback regarding the care and support for your father who is in Buckingham House, and also for the team's hard work. We are pleased that your father is enjoying the varied and meaningful activity programme delivered in Buckingham House and that he has enjoyed his gardening activities in this lovely weather. Sometimes we do have to enlist the help of local agency staff to ensure staffing levels remain safe and to deliver the care to our residents and we endeavour to book staff who have cared for the residents in Buckingham House previously. We do have an electronic logging system for maintenance tasks required across the Village, we apologise for the delay in the issue being dealt with regarding the light bulb change. The Management Team will continue to monitor this situation to drive improvement in response times. Once again thank you for your kind words and we will ensure this is passed on to the staff at Buckingham House.

In my first 3 and a half years Mom was here the service has been lovely with very caring staff. However communication has always been an issue. During the last year the residential dynamics have changed and the use of a lot of agency staff there did not seem to be the level of caring we were used to
previously. Communication needs sorting, the home could text/email families regarding closures. Also emails to the manager have gone unanswered. Very disappointed that no one asked where Mom was during her 5 week stay at hospital before she passed away!

Reply from Judy Cutt, Sales & Marketing Co-ordinator at Moundsley Hall Care Village

Thank you for taking the time to review Moundsley House, firstly our deepest sympathy for the loss of your Mother. Thank you for your comments regarding the care received by Mom, it is always nice to see positive comments about our hard-working team. Our staff retention across the village is good and agency use is at an all-time low. To ensure we have a full team on shift daily, we will use hand-picked agency staff to cover annual leave and absence when necessary. All residents are assessed to ensure we are the right facility for them before they move in. We can only apologise for any miscommunication you felt went unanswered as we understand the importance of positive relations with families. We assure you that when a resident is admitted to the Hospital, regular contact is made by the home to the ward where our resident is admitted. We apologise if you felt this was not fed back to you during your Mom's stay in the Hospital. Thank you for choosing Moundsley Hall.

I am the wife of a resident since April 2024. He has settled in well now with the help of his twin sister who is a resident also. He has received wonderful care from all the daytime staff but I am unsure of the night staff. My only concern is the fact that the system regarding care of laundry has a
lot to be desired. To date, my husband has lost a coat, 3 pairs of jeans, 2 pairs of trousers and a cap. Often he is in someone else's clothes. I think there should be a member of management there at all times.

Reply from Judy Cutt, Sales & Marketing Co-ordinator at Moundsley Hall Care Village

Thank you for taking the time to complete the review for Moundsley House, we value your feedback and suggestions to further enhance our service here at Moundsley Care Village. We are delighted your husband has settled in Moundsley House and is enjoying spending time with his twin sister who also lives with us in Moundsley House. We are delighted to hear that the care provided in the house is of a high standard and we will feed your positive comments back to our staff. We have taken on board your comments regarding the Management oversight of the Village, particularly during the weekend. We are commencing, on-site management cover at the weekends moving forward, so any issues highlighted during this time can be actioned in a timely manner and it will also give staff support during the weekend period. We apologise that you have had to raise concerns in relation to the laundry and I can assure we will give this concern our utmost attention to improve our service moving forward.

Whatever you do, do not even think about putting a member of your family in this home! My poor brother was only in Buckingham House for 2 months, July - September 2023, he actually wanted to commit suicide at the end. It was only due to a Paramedic being called in, not by the 'trained nurse' but by
the Paramedic that does the weekly GP visit, who noticed how unwell my brother looked! My brother was admitted into hospital from Buckingham with 2 x grade 2 pressure sores on his bottom, moisture lesions on his scrotum and severely ulcerated legs with cellulitis too! No body maps completed.
If you check out the CQC report, a lot of it is about how poor my brother was treated, we had to cut bandages off his legs as they were so tight, that's even if he had a bandage put on, I have had to take my own to dress his legs in the beginning, he was not offered pain medications, missed fluids, food was just dumped by him, no choice of an option given. All in the CQC report. Do not go here.

My mother was a resident at Buckingham House for a short time in 2023. Only now, sadly, do I realise how inadequate the setting was. I would urge anyone considering this place to read the latest CQC report, it makes for disturbing reading. Everything in the report is, as far as l am concerned, accurate.
My mother is no longer with us, but as a family, we vowed to make others aware of the shortcomings of this place, my mother can rest in peace, knowing we have done that.

Concerned about the standard of care, I provided my cousin with a four page email outlining the severe shortcomings of the service my aunt was receiving. I linked the concerns to the five questions used by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). I highlighted the understaffing, making it feel unsafe with
one carer, instead of two, to lift the residents. The food was inedible or cold. The buzzer was ignored for toileting so no care for dignity. Not all staff seemed to be familiar with the care plan, and medication was missed. The plan was for both my cousin and I to meet with the manager but the manager refused to talk to me, so only my cousin attended. The concerns were largely dismissed and trivialised with a sarcastic comment that 'this has been the longest complaint we've ever had'. Well, it wasn't as long as the one that followed two weeks later when the CQC put the place into special measures! It was a truly dreadful experience for my aunt in her final days. Very sad.

The place is a joke. The manager is a fool. Certain staff are nice, not all. My mom is bedridden and a man wandered into her room to try to kiss her. They phoned me to tell me this. My mom died in that place. When I went, her eyes open, her mouth open. I took a picture. I'm looking to prosecute this
home as I still now get letters from the home for money from my mom. She has been dead for nearly 3 months.
See you in Court Moundsley care home.

We are sorry to read your comments below and confirm this is a total contradiction to the thoughts and comments made by family involved in Mom’s care, of whom we built a positive relationship with. Visitors must not be under the influence of alcohol or other and all visitors should display nonaggressive behaviour to both staff and residents. We understand that you were at times unable to meet these criteria. We confirm that Mom remained safe and well cared for within our care village and the family involved in Mom’s care remained happy and supported.
