During my mother's five month stay at Ridgewood Court, she always received excellent care and attention, specific to her needs and personality. Carers were generally very thoughtful and considerate, and always willing to engage with mum and the family. During mum's final days, all the staff and particularly
the team leaders, showed her and us such love and support that we will be forever grateful. Many thanks to all the staff at Ridgewood.

Reply from Fae Doherty, Senior Marketing Officer at Ridgewood Court Residential Care Home

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. We're honoured to have cared for your mum during her time at Ridgewood Court. It's deeply meaningful to know that our team's attention to her individual needs and the support shown during her final days brought comfort to both her and your family.

My brother was cared for at Willow Gardens from 21 August 2024 till 11 April 2025. When he died all the staff were fantastic. Cleaners, carers, nurses, managers even contractors all went out of their way to help my brother and make his life that more better. Managers and staff were busy but always had
time to stop and chat. Some of the cares even visited him on their day off. I could not wish for a better team to look after my brother. Thank you all at Willow Garden Care Home.

I visited my aunt and found her in good spirits. On leaving the home we discovered my mum had lost her prescription sunglasses. One of your staff members went out of her way to help us look for them. She is very kind and did find the glasses in my aunt's room. We were very grateful to this lady who
was going on holiday the next day. Thank you for all you do for my aunt we are so grateful that she is looked after by such a good team.

Ridgewood Court Residential Care Home

from J M (Respite Resident) published on 5 August 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I was in Ridgewood Court for a fortnight for respite care. I cannot speak too highly of the care that was given to me by all the staff, without exception. Each and everyone not only looked after me, but also showed interest in me as a person and made me feel very much part of the larger family of residents.
They encouraged me in my recovery so that at the end of the fortnight I felt like a completely different person. I would recommend Ridgewood Court to anyone who needs nursing or care on a short or long-term basis. I did have one slight reservation. It was about the food. There was not enough fresh food for me, not enough salads or vegetables, or fruit, not enough variety.

Ridgewood is a modern, bright beautifully furnished care home with wide corridors and plenty of space. Everyone who works here has a smile on their face - in fact this home's biggest asset is its staff - they are all wonderful, caring, knowledgeable and kind individuals who treat the residents with
respect and love. It feels like one big family. There are activities provided almost every day with something for everybody - even those who may prefer to stay in their room. My mum received the absolute best end of life care here - nothing was too much trouble to the staff and they also made sure I was ok.

My Dad has been at the care home for 6 years plus and he has always been well looked after by all the staff.
The team are all friendly and supportive and have always had Dad's interests at the heart of the care they provide. All the staff from cleaning ,laundry, kitchen , the carers and the office
staff all make the home a welcoming and a lovely community to be part of for my Dad. and we couldn't be happier with all the care that he receives. Would highly recommend Prince Alfred for anyone looking for residential care for a loved one.

Prince Alfred Residential Care Home

from C M (Daughter of Resident) published on 18 June 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

Most staff are really friendly and helpful and clearly put lots of effort into doing a wonderful job looking after my mum.

She is well looked after and I was really impressed recently when there was an outbreak of an infection, that everything was well organised and quarantine and other measures

were swiftly implemented and information was well disseminated- I was informed how mum had been seen by appropriate medical staff and then also when the results of swabs came back was reassured that it was nothing serious and so quarantine was lifted . Thank you - very reassuring.
My only (minor) concern is that with mum having dementia it is difficult for me to know exactly what activities take place, and whether she joins in with things, as she can't remember reliably what has happened during the day/week, and often cannot distinguish what is real and what she has imagined.
Prince Alfred is a very good home and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

My mum has been at Willow Gardens for about 20 months and has mostly received the best care from all the staff. We did have some teething problems in the first six months, but we addressed this as a family and spoke to the manager. Things have settled more, and I feel that I can talk directly to most
of the staff should any problems arise. I also attend the relative's meetings when I can.

There are some matter which need some attention and consideration e.g. proximity of noisy residents (no judgement, no blame) to those who would be happier in a less noise invading environment. I refer to loud screaing and aggressive shouting emitting from some residents.

Reply from Kate Yates, Communications and Content Specialist at Willow Gardens Residential and Nursing Home

We understand the importance of a peaceful environment and strive to balance the diverse needs of everyone in our care. Very occasionally, a resident may become agitated, but these instances are rare. Our highly experienced team is skilled in using compassionate and effective techniques to support them, ensuring that any disruption is minimal. Please know that we are always reviewing ways to enhance the comfort of our residents, and we will take your comments into careful consideration. If you would like to discuss this further, please dont hesitate to reach out to the home manager, her door is always open.

My father joined Ridgewood Court in October 2024, due to a decline in his dementia. I have been so impressed with the care he has received and the respect and dignified way he has been treated. By far the biggest asset at Ridgewood, are the staff. They are angels without wings! All of them are beyond
excellent in manners and care. There is always one or two that just go that bit extra. One staff member has has been outstanding for dad. The receptionist - always cheery and still mucks in.

Moving a parent out of their own home and into care is everyone's nightmare but the staff at Willow Gardens have made the journey so much easier. From supporting us, as family, to adjust to a parent's changing health, needs and finding our feet, to giving us all the biggest welcome on moving-in day
(the hug was very much appreciated from the Manager). My father has found giving up his own home and independence very difficult, and accepting help even more so, but the staff soon won him around with smiles, laughter, home-cooked meals and absolute love of their jobs. Nothing is ever too much trouble. Fussy eating is accommodated and alternatives provided. The whole home is welcoming, staff know the residents (and family) well. They soon know likes and dislikes. Everywhere is clean and well looked after. Residents can choose how social they want to be. Their wishes are respected and their dignity is always paramount. Willow Gardens isn't a home, it's an extended family.

I cannot recommend Prince Alfred Residential Care Home highly enough. The level of care provided to my grandmother has been nothing short of outstanding. The staff are incredibly attentive, compassionate, and dedicated to ensuring she feels safe.
As a family we were concerned about the transition from
living at home to residential care. I can honestly say your team have made this a seamless process and ensured my grandmother felt safe and supported with her care needs
Prince Alfred has gone above and beyond to ensure all needs are attended to. The cook regularly liaises with my grandmother to ensure that she is happy with the choices of menu and available snacks. The exceptional puddings are a particular favourite!
Knowing my grandmother is in such capable and caring hands has brought our family immense peace of mind. If you are looking for a residential home where care, dignity and quality of life are the top priorities, I highly recommend Prince Alfred. I would recommend here in a heartbeat!

Review of

Prince Alfred Residential Care Home

from Jon C (Nephew of Resident) published on 27 January 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Five years ago Prince Alfreds accepted our 'auntie' into care following emergency hospitalisation. She had lived in the same house all her life and was independent and strong-willed. We loved her, the connection to us was simply our mother's best school friend. We had always kept in touch and I had
POA. But our family was over 250 miles away and no other relatives. Thankfully, the local church was her centre for everything.
It was a quick decision, with an earlier steer from Auntie and the church connection. She was always happy at Prince Alfred's and interacted with the staff who managed the care like the guests were their own family.
We have just said a final goodbye to Auntie after a brief illness where the home was simply wonderful. Many of her caring team from Prince Alfreds looked in on the service and celebration of her life. So lovely to chat with them all. They really did make this care home the best we possibly could have selected. A wonderful team and place. Thank You.

Thank you so much for sharing such a heartfelt and touching review about your experience of Prince Alfred. The team would have been honoured to have been a part of Auntie's journey and to have been able to offer her care and comfort during her time with us.
