Care Homes Owned by Sanctuary Care Ltd

9.7 Group Review Score (the average from all locations with a review score)
Sanctuary Care was first established in 1995 to provide older people with a range of high-quality care services, including residential, dementia and nursing care.

Part of Sanctuary Group, which is an exempt charity, Sanctuary Care has over 110 homes across England and Scotland. They are proud to be a not-for-profit organisation meaning the surplus made by Sanctuary Care is reinvested into the business which allows them to provide residents with excellent standards of care from well managed and well-maintained homes.

They believe in going above and beyond to enrich people's lives - whether that's residents, their loved ones or staff.

For residents, Sanctuary Care looks at what makes every person unique, the people close to their hearts, their passions and dreams yet to be fulfilled, and the continuity of living they need to feel content, happy and fulfilled. Knowing all of this enables the teams to deliver truly person-centred care to each and every individual who lives in the homes.

Westmead Residential Care Home

from E H (Resident) published on 1 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I was anxious and afraid of where I was going when moving into Westmead but on stepping foot through the door was put at ease, made welcome and looked after. I felt safe and no longer vulnerable.
Medical issues I ca with are improving with daily treatment from staff topped with visits from the district
nurse. I am mentally in a better place and starting to care about myself again. I'm not as only lonely as I was with contact with staff and family activities for those wishing to join it.

Well done Team Castlecroft! I would not hesitate to recommend this care home. As soon as you walk in, you are aware of the warm and friendly atmosphere. There is a good ratio of staff to residents and everyone (residents and family/friends) are made to feel really welcome. I hear lots of laughter when
I walk around and this is one of many indications that both staff and residents are happy to be there. Mum has made good friends and has put on much needed weight. The food is excellent and I am impressed that home made cakes are provided every afternoon for the residents - of a better standard than most cafes! The communication from the carers is exceptional. I am always kept up to date in relation to mum's care and am very frequently asked if I am happy or if anything else needs to be done for her. Suggestions are always met with positivity and openness by a management team who are highly skilled and experienced. Thank you so much for all your hard work!

Castle Croft is a phenomonal care home. My Aunty is now bedridden and requires extensive care. Whenever I visit my Aunt she is clean and moisturised and her exercises have been performed. The care team take great joy in telling me about her progress and demonstrate genuine care and affection. Sam
who leads the floor, has been an absolute rock for me and my family. We feel like she is now an extended part of our family. I dont know what we would have done without them all. They are all true angels.

Can I please recommend for the highest commendation the staff, they all give the highest standard of care unequally in the care setting, could I recommend they are given a bonus of £1000 and £2000 would to be unreasonable. I'm sure they would not object to 10% of this. This is a genuine recommendation
of the 66 other residents of the Allanbank Care Home.

My mother in law has been at castle croft for nearly 12 months and in that time we have got to know all the management and staff, they have all been very supportive and helpful.the staff are all absolutely brilliant always there with a kind word. Keep us informed on how she is daily, they sit and talk
to her and help her with her daily needs. As a family we can't thank them enough always go above and beyond. The rooms are very spacious clean and bright and a lovely view of the grounds.there are lots of activities daily for residents to join in, lots of singing and dancing. Mother in law likes a lie in and they will always get her some food and a cupper no matter what the time of day it is. There's always snacks and some lovely meals and it's never too much trouble to get something different that she fancies.

Chyvarhas Residential and Nursing Home

This was the second time we have used Chyvarhas for respite care. The room is modern and spotlessly clean with all facilities in good working order and a lovely view of the garden. It only lost one mark due to not being ensuite which would have been preferable but understandable given the layout. A
commode was provided to mitigate this. The staff were all polite and courteous. They greeted our family member with genuine respect and warmth which was reassuring. The food smelt lovely and was apparently very nice.

Reply from Kate Yates, Communications and Content Specialist at Chyvarhas Residential and Nursing Home

Thank you for choosing Chyvarhas for a second time. We're thrilled to hear that you found the room spotlessly clean, well-equipped, and enjoyed the garden view. Your kind words about our staff and the warm welcome they provided mean a lot to us. We're also pleased to hear the food left a positive impression. We hope to welcome you again in the future.

from Rachael K (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 31 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My nana was upstairs for 3 weeks for respite/rehab following a 4 week stay in hospital. She'd had such poor care in hospital coming out with multiple problems to her skin and diabetes.
I was met with care and warmth every day of her stay - the leadership team liaised with the doctors and got her the
help she needed and she was looking and feeling better within 2 days!
She developed cellulitis whilst here and this was dealt with promptly. The facilities are great, I loved seeing her with her hair done by the hairdresser! Nana enjoyed the food.
Nana was getting miserable towards the end of her stay as she was missing home but staff always made time for her and she was respected and well looked after.
I can't thank the staff enough for their help getting my nana back to herself. I'd have no problem recommending this home to anyone needing this care. Keep up the great work!

My mum recently moved into The Winsor, which is in a great location near the seafront. Staff have been welcoming and kind from day one. My mum has a lovely bright room which she has personalised with ornaments and pictures. She is enjoying eating lunch with others in the dining room and being able to
have a shower and get her hair done. Winsor has a calm atmosphere and is warm and friendly to residents and their visitors.

Wantage Residential and Nursing Home

from K S (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 31 March 2025

My grandma unfortunately had a fall at her flat and needed some short term respite care. She chose this care home as we'd visited when she'd moved from her previous home and we were sussing out housing options with her.

Grandmas been surrounded by incredible staff, the carers are funny, kind, supportive

and make such an effort when we as family have come in, sorted her medications and tests from the home.

Grandma wasn't eating much after the fall and thanks to the incredible chef she is eating normally again and we massively put her rate of recovery down to the joyful staff team and nourishing meals.

I cannot begin to describe how safe we feel with grandma being in the care of you all.
Management have answered all our queries too, been there every step to guide and support our family. We are blown away with the amount of care and attention that is shown.

We feel confident that if and when the time comes that grandma wants full time care we have a place she will happily return to.
