Windy Knowe is a beautiful home, beautiful gardens as well as staff. All of the staff are 100% passionate, a smile always on their face (happy). Very thorough, kind, caring, nothing a problem. Lots of stimulation with residents, activities, ponies, dog visits, excellent. Amazing communication with families.
Could not ask for more. Food excellent, cleanliness excellent and care exceptional. Thank you, you're all the best ever, genuine and true stars.

Oxton Grange Care Home

Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mother was a resident at Oxton Grange Care Home, Wirral from June 2022 until December 2024.
Right from the start I knew I had chosen the best care home! The atmosphere when walking through the door to look around, was warm and welcoming.
The whole Oxton Grange team, no matter what their role,
all played their part in providing first class attention and consideration.
But it was the love, compassion and dedicated care shown to my mum at the end of her life that really blew me away. It was quite exceptional.
In addition, at that extremely difficult family time, the support given to me personally, and to my elderly father, was truly wonderful. I was humbled by their genuine kindness.

I moved my mum from another home to Brimstage Manor two months ago and could not be happier with the change! In a previous care home, my mum was left to lie alone in a bed all day for months but now she's sitting in the lounge socialising and happy with other residents at Brimstage Manor and has even
made progress in herself that we didn't think was possible for a while.
I can't find a fault with this home at all, the staff are lovely and caring as well as accommodating to visiting family members. My mum also loves the staff as they are so kind to her. The care is great and it's a lovely little home, the residents are treated as family.

My mum moved into this home in September, as an emergency admission. She could not have been more welcomed and cared for at what was a distressing time for us all. She is very happy there now, and every time I speak to her she says she feels lucky to be in such a nice place with such nice people. I
can vouch for the fact that staff are friendly and caring, the home is clean and welcoming and residents are encouraged to socialise if they want to. All in all a good experience for my Mum and for us.

My sister recently had 3 falls within the care home, which resulted in 2 bleeds on the brain. Immediately after the falls the staff were very caring making regular observations whilst waiting for the ambulance to arrive. Upon return to the care home the nursing home fitted pressure mats to the bed and
chair which alarm when my sister gets up.

This has to be the best home I have ever been to. My father was moved in due to having an above-knee amputation. Nothing is too much trouble for them. My parents celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary. They provided us with a private room to celebrate in. They surprised them with a cake, card, flower
and a bottle of prosecco. They are the most caring staff I have ever known and my dad happily calls it home.

My sister has been in the care home for 6 months and she has been very happy and well looked after. She has a good relationship with all the staff and enjoys their company. This is a lovely care home but the staff make it something special. By their empathy and care of all residents. They care for the
family and make them welcome.

My grandad has been in 3 care homes and we have not had the best experience. He has been in Brimstage Manor for 2 weeks and we as a family have never felt so reassured by the management and staff at Brimstage. They're all very kind caring and welcoming he seems so settled and happy always kept clean
and tidy. Has a beautiful room and view and the food cleaners and laundry service are absolutely brilliant can't thank this place enough we finally can go home and know he's well cared for safe and looked after. Thank you all.

My father was a resident for six months before his death, and although suffering from dementia, he was still very aware of his surroundings. The staff looked after him with such love and care that I could not believe that such wonderful people existed. They made the last months of his life incredibly
happy, which took so much pressure off me. The staff treated him like family and cried when he passed away. I cannot thank them enough for everything they have done.

You here a lot of bad publicity at times with regards to care homes. Windy Knowe is a fantastic care home that was recommended to me for my dad. I often hear the staff engaging with the residents and on a number of occasions when walking down the corridor to see my dad you can hear them laughing in
their rooms and this is lovely to see. I have not had any issues with the service Windy Knowe provide but I am sure that if I had a concern then the team would act on it as it is my belief that they want to deliver 100% every time.

Windy Knowe Nursing Home

from S C (Daughter of Resident) published on 19 August 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

Windy Knowe is a lovely care home, with friendly and caring staff. I feel Mum is well looked after and well fed. Overall I am very pleased with the care that is provided. Only areas of concern are the amount of agency staff that have been in attendance this last month. It's very difficult for somebody
with dementia to cope with having somebody different every day attending to them, they get used to seeing the same people. I would also say that an area we've had issues with is the laundry. Clothes going missing, ending up in other residents' rooms even though every item of clothing is labelled, so this should not happen. I was appalled to see Mum wearing a pair of men's black underpants! These should not have even been in her room, for the carers to access. Apart from the above small issues I would definitely recommend Windy Knowe to others and have no real concerns over safety and care.

My mum has been attacked five times since she has been here by two different male residents, the last two incidents on the same day and they didn't inform us about the first incident where a nurse and management lacked duty of care leading to my mum getting brutally attacked and a broken hip. Residents
are left walking around wet and my mum left for hours in her underwear covered in faeces witnessed by another resident's family member. Residents have unnecessary falls, I have seen a 1-2-1 carer dragging her resident up after a fall by his arms. Tea time food is always cling filmed and cold most times. I have spoken with the manager a few times regarding this and nothing has been done. Residents are not taken outside by staff. If staff don't bring residents downstairs they are isolated to their bedroom or hallway as Springcare turned the 2 lounges and dining room into more bedrooms. Not one person from Windy Knowe has asked how my mum is or sent their apologies. Windy Knowe is now redecorating since we put our complaint in, go figure.
