Fairfax Manor is a wonderful care home, and I would highly recommend. The staff are all very kind and caring, and they cannot do enough for all the residents. My mother has been a resident for 6 months now and has received excellent care. There are always lots of different amenities for the residents
to join in if they want to.

I can highly recommend Fairfax Manor to anyone looking for care for themselves or a relative. The building is very modern with high quality fixtures and fittings, and is kept spotlessly clean and tidy. Security is high and the sensors in bedrooms to detect night time movement and alert staff are a
quality touch.

The care is exemplary, the staff being professional and friendly with a high regard for the dignity and feelings of the residents and relatives alike. Particularly noteworthy is the fact that residents are rarely left sitting in their room as there is often entertainment and they are otherwise encouraged to engage with their fellow residents. Meals are high quality and reflect exactly the likes and dislikes of the more elderly person. Fairfax is by no means the cheapest care home in the area. But the facility and the level of care prove that you get what you pay for.

My mum had several illnesses including dementia, so she needed physical and mental health nursing. I asked for a room overlooking fields to remind her of home and she got just that-it was lovely. The home is very welcoming, clean, well decorated, really good food. The staff were happy and plentiful,
nothing to much trouble. My mum was cared for with the best patience and dignity by people who truly cared and are a credit to the home manager who has a very dedicated team which she is obviously very proud of. All of you are very special people.

I came in today to check on my friend who was joining in with the other residents who were all being entertained by the Activities Coordinator! He and others from the team of carers had everyone joining in. There was a real feeling of inclusiveness as everyone's capabilities were met and gentle encouragement
got people singing and dancing! Clapping and gigging in their seats or proper up, holding hands, supporting each other whilst waltzing round the room! Smiles and laughter all round, it was a lovely morning. My friend was very happy and content it was great to see. Clever how, despite the vast range of abilities, everyone seemed to feel part of the group.

Overall this home and staff are excellent. The only thing letting it down is the standard of the food provided. For the monthly cost residents pay, I would expect a much higher standard and quality of ingredients used.

Reply from Hannah Riley, General Manager at Eden Manor Care Home

Thank you for your feedback. We have recently reviewed our menus which have been formulated with the residents and finalised during our residents meeting. As of 17th March these have now been rolled out and we have had some really positive comments back so far. As one of the first to move into Fairfax Mum has been a resident for 12 months during which time her dementia and overall health has deteriorated significantly. I have been enormously impressed by the way in which the team have helped us through this difficult phase and with the flexibility and outstanding
care they provide. Her room is lovely and the catering is first class and adapted to her needs. The whole team are professional, friendly and genuinely try their best for Mum. I would have no hesitation recommending Fairfax Manor.

time. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a care home.

My father had 2 weeks respite care before Christmas. The staff at Bod Hyfryd were fantastic, from the management down. Dad was very well cared for and staff aimed to keep Dad's routine from home to the best of their abilities. The staff are so approachable and helpful, there is a real family feel at
Bod Hyfryd, whilst maintaining professionalism at all times. We would definitely consider respite here again for Dad with the reassurance that he is well cared for. This was Dad's first time having respite, so it was a big adjustment for him and us. The staff supported us all as a family and we are very grateful to them.

from L R (Power of Attorney of Resident) published on 10 February 2025

Disappointed at the inactivity on the village dementia care unit. My Dad was in for 3 months. From my knowledge he had two small walks, no visits in the mini bus. Many falls, last 8 visits he was alone in his bedroom. Just because he had some verbal challenges it doesn't mean you don't interact in many
other ways or try things later in the day. On some occasions seeing Dementia residents seeing Paddington 1 in a morning and Paddington 2 in an afternoon with some staff on mobile phones. I expressed concerns several times told by the manager the Dementia unit was short staffed with my sister. We have no doubt residents without dementia get really good care and activities but the last 3 months of my Dad's life we are very disappointed with Eden Manor Dementia unit.

Reply from Teresa Lynskey, Regional Manager at Eden Manor Care Home

The team at Eden Manor were so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing and offer their deepest condolences. Eden Manor uses the person-centred software (PCS - electronic care planning system for carers). The team carry handheld devices to record all care interactions in real time. While it may appear they are on their mobile phones, they are using these handheld devices which are the same size. Before your Dad was discharged into the integrated care team in December 2024, it was documented that he took part in several activities including, Christmas activities, listening to the visiting children's choir, bowling, music, singing, walking in the garden and more with our Relationships Manager. Eden Manor uses a dependency tool to support in team ratio numbers; we are in the fortunate position of being 10% over on staffing. We take all comments seriously and see them as opportunities to improve the services we provide; we would welcome the opportunity to discuss your concerns further.

On arrival the staff very welcoming. The room very pleasant. Most of the care staff were excellent however the younger members may require more training. Also, first morning my mother didn't receive a cup of tea until she was told that she must request this as they wouldn't know if they were not told.
However, after that, this was not a problem and got it on the requested time. The mattress was very uncomfortable. Entertainment excellent although nothing at the weekends. Also very short staffed at weekends. Need more options with food.
