Richmond Villages have been providing prestigious retirement communities for over 25 years. Part of Bupa, their mission is to help people live longer, healthier, happier lives.

The most reassuring aspect of a Richmond Village is having the facilities and services all in one place to help you respond to every twist and turn life takes. Support varies at each location, but across Richmond Villages they offer residential, nursing and dementia care. In 2021, Richmond Villages opened the UK's first specialist dementia centre, Richmond Willaston, inspired by the Dutch household model, enabling residents to live as independently as possible for as long as possible.

Set in the heart of each village within a bright, vibrant community, each home is beautifully presented with wide spacious corridors leading to private rooms with en-suite for residents. Alongside care delivery, their passion is to provide some wonderful on site facilities enabling you to keep as fit and healthy as you can, with many of the villages offering state-of-the-art Wellness Spas.

Richmond Villages is a special place where new beginnings start and quality memories are made.

My sister came to Letcombe Regis after she decided that she could no longer cope in her London flat. My husband and I visited before a final decision was made and we were very impressed by the Home, the surroundings and particularly the staff we met. So, in September 2022 we moved her and we have never
regretted that decision.
The care she has received has been exemplary, the staff unfailingly kind and, whilst my sister cannot really appreciate them, the surroundings beautiful.

My mother was transferred to the care home due to illness and mobility issues in April/May 2024. The care she receives is of a high quality with much patience and kindness shown and special attention made to certain wishes. Her health is regularly monitored by qualified nurses, actions are taken where
necessary, medicines are overseen and issued as required. It is of much comfort that we know she is being looked after professionally in a gentle and understanding way. Unfortunately she does struggle with some of the meal options, she is frequently disappointed with the lack of taste, poor variety and the quality, especially in regard to green vegetables.

My mother has been living at Richmond Village for 5 1/2 years, initially with my father on Dovedale until he died, then in an assisted living apartment where she did need the help of the domicilliary care team, and since last June back on Dovedale when she was becoming more muddled and less confident.
Throughout my mother's stay there she has received incredible kindness and support from all staff who had dealings with her from managers to face to face staff. She enjoyed joining in with some of the activities provided, having her hair done and she attended and liked most of the entertainment. Sometimes things went awry but if that happened staff would do their utmost to put things right immediately and my mother was content again.
Thank you for the exemplary care given to my mother particularly in the last two weeks of her life when that care and support was so kindly extended to myself and our family. What was of great benefit was the continuity of the staff.

Reply from Kerstin Taylor, Village Manager at Richmond Villages Aston-on-Trent

Thank you so much for your kind review of our team's care of your late mother. She will be much missed in our Village and we will always remember her fondly for the very independent and confident lady she was, and for her lovely smile and sense of humour.

My sister and I are grateful that Hanbury care floor were able to welcome our mother with less than 48 hours notice after a fall, leaving her unable to move independently. The specialist equipment available on this floor means she is able to be showered and generally cared for with dignity.
The team
liaise with local doctors practices, occupational and physiotherapists. They have organised hospital transport and provided additional equipment as required.
Staff are on call 24/7 and are kind, helpful, considerate, friendly and caring. They encourage mum to join in with activities both on the care floor and within the village generally.
The food is extremely good, there are always three choices for lunch, and the vegetarian option is appetising and appealing- so much so that our father often joins her for lunch!
Our parents are going to remain at Richmond Village in one of the assisted living suites where mum will have the benefit of domiciliary care in a caring and safe environment.

My aunt first moved into Richmond Villages in September 2024. She was in hospital when she had a fall and damaged her face and needed to go to a care home for her safety. A Richmond Village employee visited her hospital and she moved to the home when she was discharged. She has been met with kndness
and patience. She has adjusted to being in the home with the help of staff. She is encouraged to join in all activities and performances which she enjoys.

Mum came into a respite bed following a gas leak at home. Unfortunately she found the ward very noisy, phones weren't answered and her buzzer wasn't answered when she needed help. I had gone through the timings of her meds with the nursing staff (she has to take 2 at different times to the others) but
this didn't happen. With one exception I was not very impressed with the staff, and the day I was told that the ward was not a hotel was the day I moved Mum out of the care wing and into the Assisted Living wing.
I was grateful that they took her as we were desperate but I would think twice if she needed to go back into the care wing.

Grandad waited over 30 minutes to go to toilet and bed. I believe more care staff are needed, especially at bedtime, the girls are fantastic but there are not enough of them to assist people who are not able to help themselves due to mobility. Also only one stand aid in place of care to service all
residents is not acceptable! Especially the fees!

After 3 years in the care floor the only word I can use to describe the care received is poor! There are some excellent carers, although they appear to be given very little support and guidance! We have had lots of lost property - new clothing brought in and lost! New clothes ripped then stuffed in
the back of drawers. Communication is a very big problem, emails ignored, concerns from family not addressed! Or when chasing up issues we then discover yet another member of staff has left - over the 3 years there has been several changes of head of care leading to lack of continuity. RVW - rather than using a 'use it or lose it' approach, are much happier using 'let's ensure they lose it as quickly as possible' such as using a hoist rather than encouraging residents to walk. My family member was told to use his pad when asked to go to the toilet! There is a certain lack of independence and lack of dignity. Richmond Villages and BUPA all seem to be happy with this lack of care!

I write this review from my position as an 'Independent Unit' resident, whose husband has been transferred from our apartment to the care home. The care and support he is experiencing there is excellent. Even though his Parkinson's condition is overwhelming.
I cannot praise the staff enough for their
consistent patience and overall care. Richmond Villages, Letcombe Regis has timed out to be the very best option for us in our declining years, allowing residents to remain in their homes whilst having care facilities convenient on-site. I have marked some as satisfactory, but also mean it to be 'good', as my husband's condition can only allow him to experience everything to a certain level.

My husband as lived at Aston on Trent Richmond village for 2.5 years now.
He took a long time to settle due to his dementia diagnosis and unfamiliarity of a new place. However the staff did an amazing job of helping him settle and make him feel at home. My husband stayed on the care ward for the first
4 months as he had suffered a stroke. Then he rented an apartment within the village, we purchased an apartment some 18 months ago. My husband's carers go into his apartment daily and to say it gives me piece of mind is an understatement.
I feel Richmond as been a great success for my husband and our family and as allowed me to have respite when needed. He comes home to me for a few days each week and on our return I always feel that he's coming home to his second home where he as some great staff take care of him. I come over to Richmond village every week and I have always felt welcomed and again the staff have always been very understanding and help should I have any concerns.

My mother arrived at Richmond Villages, Letcombe Regis, in November. It was a very stressful time but she settled in quickly, and it was not long before I felt a weight had lifted. The admin staff have held my hand throughout. Personalised care plan, and on hand up-to-date information for the carers
offers reassurance. Lovely staff organise activities in the afternoons. The level of care, dedication, empathy, and warmth provided by the carers is truly above expectation (my mother moved from another care home to be closer to me, she is 98).
My mother is safe and happy. Thank you.

Mum truly is a pleasure to be around, I am glad she settled so easily into RV Letcombe Regis, new environments can be unsettling, but Mum really is part of our family now. I personally have also loved getting to know you and the family dogs. You have become a familiar face for all the staff and I know how much the other residents enjoy your visits too.

Mum was the 4th resident to arrive at Richmond Witney. She moved into an independent living flat and immediately settled, making new friends and becoming an ambassador to champion the BUPA care pathway the villages represent. In the last 9 years, she has followed that pathway after 8 years of independent
living to a year in assisted living and now on to the care floor. I have experienced nothing but kindness and compassion for her since her mental health began to decline. All departments have really cared about her, the girls in hospitality missed her when she could not make it down for meals, the housekeeping team were caring and kind to her, especially two in particular and the dom care team were wonderful at popping in to check on her if they were passing, spending time with her and collecting her meals for her, with special thanks to three girls in particular not to mention the lovely girls on reception and the senior team. You have all helped in her journey, thank you.

I spent 3 weeks at Richmond Village Cheltenham Care Section end of November/early December 2024 recovering from a hip replacement operation at the nearby private Hospital. I checked in early to Richmond Village and they arranged transport to the hospital and return to my room. I cannot praise the attention
and care I received enough from everyone at the village - the staff and nurses checking on my welfare day and night, the physio/gym and exercises, the entertainment and decorations of my pre-Christmas stay, the food and drinks in the two restaurants and cafe, the friendly attention of all the staff and many of the long term residents who all seemed pleased to be staying at Richmond Village, Cheltenham.
I will certainly stay there again when my other hip needs replacement! The whole complex is surrounded by mature gardens, well maintained and like a 5-star hotel!

My partner has been in RV Care Home in Painswick for 2 years now. It is an excellent facility with interesting and positive entertainment programmes. All the staff are helpful and pleasant and react to my partner who has Alzheimer's with respect and care. The restaurant facilities are excellent. The
spa area with pool etc, gym and hairdressing is amazing. My partner is unable to partake in some of these activities, due to his Alzheimer's, but he does use the hairdresser's which is extremely useful. Myself and his children feel he is in the best home possible in this area and we are very happy with all aspects of his care here.
