My sister came to Letcombe Regis after she decided that she could no longer cope in her London flat. My husband and I visited before a final decision was made and we were very impressed by the Home, the surroundings and particularly the staff we met. So, in September 2022 we moved her and we have never
regretted that decision.
The care she has received has been exemplary, the staff unfailingly kind and, whilst my sister cannot really appreciate them, the surroundings beautiful.

My aunt first moved into Richmond Villages in September 2024. She was in hospital when she had a fall and damaged her face and needed to go to a care home for her safety. A Richmond Village employee visited her hospital and she moved to the home when she was discharged. She has been met with kndness
and patience. She has adjusted to being in the home with the help of staff. She is encouraged to join in all activities and performances which she enjoys.

After 3 years in the care floor the only word I can use to describe the care received is poor! There are some excellent carers, although they appear to be given very little support and guidance! We have had lots of lost property - new clothing brought in and lost! New clothes ripped then stuffed in
the back of drawers. Communication is a very big problem, emails ignored, concerns from family not addressed! Or when chasing up issues we then discover yet another member of staff has left - over the 3 years there has been several changes of head of care leading to lack of continuity. RVW - rather than using a 'use it or lose it' approach, are much happier using 'let's ensure they lose it as quickly as possible' such as using a hoist rather than encouraging residents to walk. My family member was told to use his pad when asked to go to the toilet! There is a certain lack of independence and lack of dignity. Richmond Villages and BUPA all seem to be happy with this lack of care!

I write this review from my position as an 'Independent Unit' resident, whose husband has been transferred from our apartment to the care home. The care and support he is experiencing there is excellent. Even though his Parkinson's condition is overwhelming.
I cannot praise the staff enough for their
consistent patience and overall care. Richmond Villages, Letcombe Regis has timed out to be the very best option for us in our declining years, allowing residents to remain in their homes whilst having care facilities convenient on-site. I have marked some as satisfactory, but also mean it to be 'good', as my husband's condition can only allow him to experience everything to a certain level.

My mother arrived at Richmond Villages, Letcombe Regis, in November. It was a very stressful time but she settled in quickly, and it was not long before I felt a weight had lifted. The admin staff have held my hand throughout. Personalised care plan, and on hand up-to-date information for the carers
offers reassurance. Lovely staff organise activities in the afternoons. The level of care, dedication, empathy, and warmth provided by the carers is truly above expectation (my mother moved from another care home to be closer to me, she is 98).
My mother is safe and happy. Thank you.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a lovely review. Mum truly is a pleasure to be around, I am glad she settled so easily into RV Letcombe Regis, new environments can be unsettling, but Mum really is part of our family now. I personally have also loved getting to know you and the family dogs. You have become a familiar face for all the staff and I know how much the other residents enjoy your visits too.

The grounds, buildings, and facilities here are beautiful, but more importantly, the quality of care my poor old mother is receiving is fabulous. She has very advanced dementia and needs a high level of support 24/7. It is a great comfort to us to know that she is getting this and we are beyond grateful
to the gentle and patient care staff that work so hard looking after her.

Mum was the 4th resident to arrive at Richmond Witney. She moved into an independent living flat and immediately settled, making new friends and becoming an ambassador to champion the BUPA care pathway the villages represent. In the last 9 years, she has followed that pathway after 8 years of independent
living to a year in assisted living and now on to the care floor. I have experienced nothing but kindness and compassion for her since her mental health began to decline. All departments have really cared about her, the girls in hospitality missed her when she could not make it down for meals, the housekeeping team were caring and kind to her, especially two in particular and the dom care team were wonderful at popping in to check on her if they were passing, spending time with her and collecting her meals for her, with special thanks to three girls in particular not to mention the lovely girls on reception and the senior team. You have all helped in her journey, thank you.

My Mother moved into Sycamore in the summer of this year. Over the past 5 months what has struck me has been the warmth and care with which the team works with the residents. It is demanding work for them and yet so often they turn up with a smile.
There have been a few times when I have needed to
give feedback on the service. It has always been well received by the care manager and either changes made or the rationale explained.

This review pertains to Sycamore Unit on the Care Floor at Richmond Village Letcombe Regis and does not offer any opinion on other aspects of care at the same facility such as Assisted Living. I will post a separate review for that area of care at a later date.
I would like to give my profound thanks
to all staff on Sycamore for the outstanding level of exceptional care they recently gave my father in about the last six weeks of his life. We could not have asked for better. Without exception, all the staff were very loving and did everything they could to make my father feel comfortable and deeply cared for. They were also very supportive of the family at a difficult time, were always available to us, and sent frequent updates. Everything was handled very sensitively and with great attention to detail. This gave my father and his family total peace of mind. I could not recommend the Sycamore Unit more highly. A huge thank you to the head of care and all her staff for outstanding work.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a warm review. Everyone enjoyed having your father with us, not just the Care Floor but the wider Richmond Village Community. Our Team understand that relatives cannot always be present but with facetime, telephone calls and emails everyone can maintain daily contact. The music and readings you sent were shared by our admin and care staff, and touched each and every one of us too. I will make sure the whole Team see your lovely words.

I found my stay here very rewarding.
All the staff were individually kind and caring.
I particularly liked that as my door was open, visitors and staff knocked gently before coming into my room.
My one complaint is that there was no grab handle in the shower to hold onto.
Because of this, I needed
a carer to support me whilst showering.
Surprised there was no telephone in the room until it was requested. The mobile signal is genuinely very responsive.
I would definitely ask to come again if necessary.

Mum came to Richmond Village for palliative care. From the moment she arrived, we knew she was going to be cared for with dignity, kindness, and respect. All the staff really were amazing to Mum, but also to us, her family, and friends who wanted to visit Mum in her final weeks. Thank you to all who
cared for Mum, you are all truly wonderful.

This is a review of Maple at Richmond Village Letcombe Regis. I would like to say a big thank you to the care home manager and her team on Maple. My Nanna moved to Maple from her flat in the main area of the village centre after she became very unwell. As soon as Nanna arrived she was treated with such
care and respect and this has continued over the last month. The managers, nurses, carers, and maintenance teams know her and us. They treat Nanna warmly- chatting and laughing with her, taking care of and adapting to her changing needs, and enabling her to join in with the various activities, meals, etc that take place. There is a warm, calm, responsive, and supportive atmosphere in Maple. I am very grateful for the communication about my Nanna's care and well-being and feel confident that she is in the right place. Not only has the team looked after my Nanna but also my family in what has been a stressful few weeks.

Thank you so much for leaving such a lovely review. I know it is always difficult when health needs change and moving to a care Floor can sometimes be daunting. When my mother became unwell this summer, Richmond Letcombe Regis was her choice for recuperation. When I visited to look around I was immediately struck by the friendly atmosphere and the sense of community.
Unfortunately, by the time Mum arrived at Richmond, it was for palliative care.
Prior to
her moving, she was visited in hospital by the Home Manager. This was a mark of the level of care she would receive.
On her arrival, she was given such a warm welcome and instantly, I saw her relax. The care she received was full of skill and compassion. It was calm and gentle and the staff took time and care to tend to her - both physically and emotionally. This is true of all staff.
Her stay was relatively short, but her friends were welcomed and cared for. We, her family, experienced warmth and support during this very intense period.
Reflecting on Mum's last days, I feel immense gratitude and thanks towards the entire team.

I will pass on your thanks to the whole team.

Without hesitation, I recommend Richmond Letcombe Regis to anyone seeking professional nursing care. The quality of care I received far exceeded my and my family's expectations and has accelerated my return to good health and mobility. I required a period of rehabilitation after suffering two accidents
and undergoing two operations I had in 6 months which left me with severely impaired mobility. On arrival, I was welcomed by a senior manager and shown to my spacious and well-equipped room. The team of carers immediately made me feel at home with their patience, sympathy and support. The nursing staff were very knowledgeable and professionally administered drugs and pain relief precisely on time. They were also generous with their time and advice. The personal trainer team also made a significant contribution to my physical well-being with their skills and constant encouragement. All the ancillary staff also made my well-being a priority. With the help of the whole care team, my recovery has progressed far more than I anticipated 4 weeks ago and I count myself fortunate to have chosen Richmond Letcombe Regis for my nursing and rehabilitation.

Richmond Villages Witney

from Chris H (Son of Resident) published on 5 August 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My parents moved to Richmond Villages in December 2021 and since then have experienced independent, assisted living, and nursing care.
The consistent wonderment is the care exhibited by members of staff and their willingness to go the extra mile to support residents and enable them to have as fulfilling
lives as possible. The team recently laid on a 'Wedding Breakfast', including decorating the table, making a cake and facilitating a live link, so that my Mum was able to celebrate, with her friends, the wedding of her eldest granddaughter which she couldn't attend in person.
I've come to the conclusion that the only thing that truly matters for the wellbeing of our loved ones is the 'well-spring of care' for others exhibited by staff. The senior management team of Bupa, the Richmond Villages group, and care homes everywhere, should recognise that this alone is their single greatest asset and do their utmost to nurture and sustain those staff who embody it. My respect to you all.

Reply from Martin Crick, Village Manager at Richmond Villages Witney

Thank you for taking the time to recognise the team here at Witney for going that extra mile. I certainly feel that I have a talented and caring team and greatly appreciate your comments, which I will share with them. It was great to see Mum's enjoyment of her granddaughter's wedding on the live link and to celebrate at a distance.

Our first meeting with Front of House was excellent and we decided that my husband should have a 4-week stay. We were told to arrive after 2 pm on Tuesday 7th May and we would have a reserved parking space as my husband has mobility problems. No one seemed to know we were expected, no parking spaces
no one to meet us. A member of staff eventually arrived to take us to Sycamore we chose a room but it needed the bed moving. We waited for over an hour to speak to anyone and even the next day the bed was still in the same place blocking access to the bathroom. I have many more complaints! You need checking in and out system.

We are so sorry that your Respite stay experience at Richmond Villages Letcombe Regis was not up to the high standard you would rightfully expect. Our priority is always to give the best Customer Service possible to all our Residents. We take the well-being and satisfaction of our Guests extremely seriously. Whilst we do have an admission process in place your comments will help action improvements. Having spoken to you thank you for your kind comments about the Care Home which you found to be very good, great care, and kind and friendly staff. Every Resident comes to Letcombe Regis with different requirements and it is not always possible to meet these instantaneously. Sometimes even with the best intentions clothing can be mislaid and I know you welcomed the goodwill gesture to cover the replacement of these items and the plant to apologise for our delayed response. My brother moved to Maple, Richmond Village Letcombe Regis in April 2022. Since then, I have been a constant and regular visitor. I have always found my brother very well cared for. The staff are professional, friendly and engaged with the residents and always available if there are any issues for discussion.
It is obvious from my brother’s demeanour that he feels secure and content with the care he receives in Maple.
