The staff and management have been extremely supportive to me and my family. They have really looked after my wife while she has been in care at Epworth Grange. I feel that she is in a safe and happy environment where she is; this also makes life for me a lot easier, and I can get on with my life knowing
she is safe and looked after.

My mother has been at Epworth Grange for a year. I have nothing but praise for all the staff who look after her. They treat her with great patience, care and friendliness and they are always welcoming to the family when they visit. Her room and all the communal areas are clean and well maintained and
there are always activities available to the residents. Any medical issues arising have been swift addressed and the staff are always happy to answer any questions. I would thoroughly recommend Epworth Grange.

Over many years of visiting members of the congregation in various care homes I have experienced a huge range in the quality of care and provision. Epworth Grange is amongst a small number of the very best homes I have been to. There is a real "feel" that staff care about the residents and it isn't
just a job. It is a great relief to me to know that my sister is cared for in a safe environment. As she is the one living at Epworth Grange I asked her for her response to the questions below. I would rate it overall as excellent and would commend Epworth Grange to anyone.

The care staff at this home are wonderful. They all show a caring attitude to my father. I am informed of any problems he is having and updated if anything extra is needed. They are approachable and answer any queries or questions I have. If he needs any extra care it is provided or they discuss with
me the best way forward. If I don't understand their system or anything it is explained. I cannot fault the care given to my father here. They are always considering his mental and physical well-being. Fantastic!

My father was living independently feeling lonely & anxious trying to manage his health, medication & wellbeing. He felt resigned into moving into a care home saying he had no choice so we feared it may be unsettling for him. With the support of all the staff he is feeling more relaxed & confident each
day. To quote his words "I couldn't be in a better place. The staff can't do enough for me, they are all absolutely wonderful & the food is really good"

From my first tour and enquiries through to dad moving in and first couple of weeks, the staff/managers have all been so lovely. Everyone is cheerful, kind and caring. Dad loves the food, his room, the garden and the staff. It's clean, warm and welcoming in a lovely quiet area with nice views. Couldn't
have found a better place for dad and he is settling in well. When we take him out for lunch he wants to get back in plenty of time for meals.

My mum decided to move to Epworth Grange after a fall at home impacted her mobility and confidence. Her choice was based on good reports from friends. Whilst it has been a momentous move for someone who valued her independence so highly, she has started to settle. This is largely due to the truly caring
staff and the well run efficiency of Epworth Grange. She appreciates the activities though wishes there was more at weekends. Her family and friends visit frequently and can see that she is safe and well looked after.

The care home has been phenomenal and has cared for my Grandma. They put her first and ensure that she is fed, clean and safe. At no point have I or my family been unhappy with the performance and support offered by the home. I would recommend this care home to anyone who needs a place for Alzheimer's
patients. I am so happy that my Grandma is there and being looked after by the wonderful staff and team. The security and support offered have improved my mental health and anxiety around my grandma due to how much support is offered.

MHA Handsworth is quite honestly the most homely of care homes. Spacious dining room, lounge, new hair salon and library supplemented by a beautiful garden. However the outstanding feature is the amazing team who work there. They are so kind, caring and really go the extra mile for the residents.
My
father has been there over two and a half years and we honestly think he couldn't be anywhere better. We would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone needing care for their family or friends.

Review of

Handsworth

from Jaqui S (Sister of Resident) published on 26 November 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

The outstanding care and love that my sister received whilst having respite care at Handsworth was just wonderful. She has come home with so many memories of a lovely stay, the enjoyment of the activities, her choice of food from a delicious menu and overall the time spent with the staff and other residents.
She was nervous to stay and I was nervous to leave her but within minutes of taking her there she was smiling and chatting away to staff and I just felt so confident and trusting of her care. She looked so happy and cared for when I picked her up. It was obvious that to the staff nothing was too much trouble. The lovely outcome is our collective trust in Handsworth and the knowledge that my sister is happy to stay again, which means I can be sure of having respite breaks in the future. I wouldn't mind a stay at Handsworth myself! Huge thanks to everybody involved in her care.

Thank you to all the staff at Handsworth Care Home for looking after my Mum with such kindness. I have felt that every one of you has worked beyond what is expected in providing care for my Mum. The surroundings have always been pleasant, clean and warm. Mum has always looked well dressed and well looked
after. I have always felt that she has been in very safe and caring hands. There were plenty of activities going on and many caring hands to help her. She has been treated with dignity at a very difficult time in her life. Thanks again.

Epworth Grange

from L B (Daughter of Resident) published on 15 November 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5

A miserable, dour atmosphere with miserable, dour carers (with a few exceptions). No friendly hellos or goodbyes when you enter the building. One day when I called unexpectedly I found my relative still in bed at 11.30am with no food or drink and by 1.15 I had to go out to buy some.
A carton of opened
fruit juice was left by the chair for 7 days, items were left out of my relative's reach. Left without glasses or teeth. Left slumped like a sack of flour in their chair, commode seat left dirty one day and used toilet paper in it.
Also I felt some of my concerns were ignored, ie. constantly leaving chocolate biscuits in room when people had been told five times please don't give chocolate.
Maybe if your relative is immobile and needs more time spent with them and compassion shown then give this place a miss.
My only regret is ever leaving my relative in this place. They are now in a different care home and the difference between them is like night and day.

A truly amazing care home where my Mother and now my Father received/receive an outstanding level of care. All the staff (carers, managers, admin, domestic, chaplains, and caretakers) are friendly, approachable, professional and supportive. They go above and beyond the call of duty to provide my parents
and our family the care and support to meet our needs and more. We are so very, very grateful.

The care provided to my parents is exceptional. The staff are caring and make sure that they know each individual and their needs and preferences.
The manager, her senior team, admin staff, nurses, carers, kitchen and laundry and cleaning staff are invaluable friendly and professional. The music and

Both my parents have been cared for at Laurel Court. Sadly Mum passed away in August this year. The staff could not have done more for her - giving her wonderful care for the last 18 months of her life - she felt loved and at home there. Dad is still there- treated with so much care, respect and understanding.
It truly is a wonderful place, the care from the staff extends to the family of their residents too.
Simply a really caring place and it puts our minds at rest knowing the level of care our dad is getting.

Everything at Laurel Port is excellent, the love and care shine through. It can never be as good as your own home but it runs it a close second. My husband was happy and content here.
When he was dying, the staff really looked after him, myself and my son.
