Pennystone Court

Over the next couple of months my mums dementia had gotten to the stage where she could no longer live independently at home. After some difficult times in hospital and in short term care mum has now moved into Pennystone Court Blackpool. I have been in many care homes through my professional life and
I can honestly say Pennystone Court as an environment is perfect for my mum, very homely, food is great, room very comfortable. The best thing about Pennystone however is the staff, management team and exceptional care. Mum is happy settled and has things to do. I cannot thank the staff enough for what they have done for my mum (and me) over the last few months.

My father has been in Starr Hills in Ansdell for 14 months. He had lived independently until the age of 93 with some help from family and carers.
We moved Dad in initially for respite care as we were going on holiday and I worried about his wellbeing whilst we were away.
After 2 weeks Dad decided
he did not want to go home.
The home is in a beautiful building, the staff are all very friendly compassionate people.
There are lots of great activities throughout the day varying from history lectures to quizzes, musical recitals and bingo, so something for everyone.
The residents are treated with respect and dignity by all staff. Visitors can pop in at any time to visit family members.
I pop in regularly to see Dad without any problems.
Starr Hills has a welcoming friendly atmosphere. And the food looks great.
I had a tour of Starr Hills with the manager prior to Dad moving Dad in. My wife came with me and we both commented we'd live there.
Probably the best you can say.

My mum has been a resident at Pennystone Court for just over a year. The only word I can think of is "excellent". The care team and management are sincere carers and are very focused on the well being of the residents in the home. They have guided my mum through the difficult transition of moving to
being a care home. The home is spotless and the catering provides both variety and balanced nutrition. It's clear that the team at Pennystone cares about the dignity of each individual and are constantly adding to the "experience" from the wide range of activities that are provided, and special touches such as baking a birthday cake. And always with humour and patience. Being abroad, it's so reassuring to know you can contact the team and management to get updates etc. The greeting at Pennystone is always warm, which adds to the feeling that this is a family.

At 96 years old and having always lived in her own home or with my brother, we were worried about her settling in a care home. From day one the Heather Grange team made it easy for my mother. They are professional, caring and friendly at all times. Mum has had a new lease of life and is much more active
and alert than before. This is clearly due to the general environment and many social activities that she is encouraged to join in. She loves the place and people.

Great advice and assistance from the team in making decisions for our Mum over the Christmas period.
The care received ongoing is really close and personal.
Mum has been extremely well looked after since making the huge decision to leave the family home, where she was struggling to cope with everyday
duties, she is very settled and happy there.

Mum was reluctant to move to residential care. Starr Hills provided the perfect starting place.
The caring team worked hard to make sure that her needs were met and were definitely the right fit for someone starting on their residential journey.
The environment and activities helped her to settle
and the staff were helpful in outlining her needs.

The care and attention shown to Mum by all the team, care, admin, kitchen and facilities at Starr Hills is top notch. They have taken time to listen, observe and respond to her individual needs and go out of their way to encourage her to participate in activities and socialise with other residents.
It's evident that the staff talk to each other about and for the benefit of residents daily life. My wife commented that residents are treated as guests.

My mother has been at Aughton Park for 9 years. I cannot praise the staff enough, in particular the 2 senior members of staff and administration. The manager deserves praise. They have been at the home throughout my mother's stay, keeping her safe during the pandemic and often going far beyond what
is required. The chaplain and his wife also do great work with the residents. I only hope the newly appointed business manager does not try to make too many changes and can maintain the wonderful staff that make this such a good home!

My mum had a serious medical problem in December and this was dealt with professionally and with kindness. One of the senior carers even called me to find out how I was feeling after the event. The staff are always friendly and kind and this makes a huge difference. I feel safe leaving my mum in their

My dad moved into Starr Hills in October after a period of time in hospital. We cannot believe how much he has improved. His health and general wellbeing is even better than before he was admitted to hospital. We believe this is all down to the excellent care he has received. Nothing is too much trouble
for the carers. They truly go above and beyond. They are all so kind and caring with a smile on their face the whole time. They are like family to my dad and we will always be grateful for what they have done.

My Father has been treated as an individual. Warmth and friendliness has been shown by the staff and to ourselves - my husband and myself. A positive atmosphere prevails! Availability of newspapers from Lancashire and magazines.
Rooms bland - need a little colour. Food much homemade soup - sardines,
maceral, trippers, and more vegetables; leeches, spinach, broccoli, courgettes, and salads. Less sugary items.

I have been very happy with every aspect of Mum's care at Pennystone Court. Mum has mixed dementia and was a resident with Pennystone for three years until her health required nursing care. The building is modern, recently refurbished, and secure. The caring team are professional, respectful, and patient.
The accommodation and public areas are kept to a very high standard of cleanliness. Mum's personal hygiene was well catered for with freshly laundered bedding and clothes. There was an excellent choice of fresh food from the kitchen, a food hygiene rating of 5. The in-house hair and nails salon is excellent. The entertainment and activities are varied inclusive and numerous. A lovely sunny and secure outdoor area is available. I would recommend PSC to any person in need of residential care.

My Mum has now been a resident at Pennystone Court for six years. Overall that time she has been extremely well cared for and looked after by the wonderful carers who have become like my extended family and to whom I am very grateful. They work very hard over long shifts to keep the residents clean,
tidy, and well-dressed. Medication is strictly monitored and if there is a health problem a doctor or district nurse is called in immediately. All rooms have recently been refurbished and are kept lovely and clean. The home is managed extremely well and excellent meals are served. Activities, church services, and events are arranged. It is a first-class care home run by people who care very much for the residents.

From our initial visit to Pennystone, it was a very easy decision that this was to be our choice of care home. The staff was immediately welcoming, answered all our questions, and professionally assisted the needs of my Father-in-law. The premises are immaculate and the highest standards of cleanliness
and care are maintained with regular checking of all residents, addressing any requests immediately in a friendly professional manner. Activities are in abundance providing stimulus and entertainment with occasional visit 'stars' and even off-site visits when staff give willingly of their days off to help out and ensure the highest level of enjoyment and safety. Pennystone Court is a happy home with a wonderful sense of connectivity. Above all, my Father-in-law is happy here.

A wonderful care home that is just that - a home full of care for all the residents. The activities are varied, stimulating and enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. We really appreciate all the musical activities and the attractive gardens with several places to sit, even in variable weather. Finally,
the encouragement for interaction and forming friendships between residents is great.

If you are looking for a beautiful, clean care home with friendly, caring, knowledgeable and professional staff then take a look at Heather Grange. From the moment we looked around the home we knew it was the best home for my dad to stay to keep him living well with dementia. During his time there he
enjoyed lots of the activities and outings. All the staff were always very supportive and welcoming to the family, especially to my mum who visited my dad most days. We were always updated on how he was doing and when needed they arranged for all his health/medical needs to be treated by the nurse/GP who visited the home. Whilst there, my dad enjoyed a drink of his favourite tipple and a singalong to many of his favourite songs. Being cared for at Heather Grange meant that my dad had the best possible care away from his own home in his later stages of dementia. Thank you to all the hardworking staff for all they did for my dad and family, especially the care and love shown during his final days.
