Sandygate

My Mum arrived at Sandygate, after a long spell in hospital. She is severely visually impaired and has Alzheimer's. She had had a few falls during her stay in hospital and had fractured her hip during a short stay at another care home, so I was extremely worried about her safety. The management at Sandygate
listened to my concerns and made sure that all safety measures were in place when Mum arrived. All the staff have been vigilant about keeping Mum safe. Mum has improved since arriving at Sandygate, she is eating and drinking well, her mobility is improving and she seems happy. She is always clean with fresh clothes daily. Her bedroom and bathroom are always clean and tidy. The regular church services and singing activities are all nice for her to enjoy and take part in. All the staff are friendly and welcoming when I arrive which is nice, as visiting care homes is not something I'm used to doing. Overall I am very pleased with Sandygate- for Mum's new home.

My father has been a resident for the past 2 months, in that time we have found the staff from all areas of the home e.g. office, coffee bar and all carers to be very helpful, and caring to both him and the family, everyone is vigilant and attentive to the residents.
My father had a couple of falls
and hospital visits, so he was moved to a room nearer the work areas of the carers and special measures put in place to minimise falls and to alert them when he was on the move. My father has settled in at Mapplewell Manor and loves all the team. Mapplewell Manor is a very clean, friendly and welcoming home. A big thank you to all the team.

I feel Mapplewell Manor is a wonderful place. I arrived un announced to get a feel of what the home was like, Straight away felt comfortable. A member of staff spent on hour with me explaining things about the home, answering all my questions and showing me round. Since then my relation has moved in
and settled, the staff are very friendly and caring both to the residents and families. Mapplewell Manor would always be recommended by me.

All my experiences of Sandygate have been positive: My mum was made to feel welcome and at home immediately. The staff are fantastic, everyone from the admin who made all the paperwork as simple as possible, to the carers, who treat the residents like they are family. Would highly recommend. The rooms
are pleasant and well-equipped and the overall atmosphere is friednly and homely.

My 79 year old father had contracted a viral infection whilst on holiday in Benidorm - He was transferred via a Medical flight to Hospital whilst he was assessed. I found the best place within a 10 mile radius of me, which was Mapplewell Manor. The place is lovely, clean and the staff are friendly.
It's also very warm!
I'm a great believer in "If you don't use it, you lose it" and I worked with my father doing basic exercises in both of the Hospitals and Mapplewell Manor - Chair Raises, Leg raises, Stairs, Knee Push Up's etc - Mapplewell Manor were very accommodating in allowing both myself and my father to exercise in the care home. My father is now coming to my home to live with me (providing he does his exercises) - He has got himself a personal trainer, who will work with him at the gym near me.
I would like to thank Mapplewell Manor for providing a safe and warm environment whilst we did our exercises - My father stayed at Mapplewell Manor for 2 months.

My mum has been a resident since November 2024, it was a hard decision, but for my mum's safety she had to go into residential care, since being here at Sandygate the care mum has been given is outstanding the staff amazing, from management to the kitchen staff and so on. She's settled more than we
thought which is a relief for myself, sister and 2 brothers. Once again knowing our mum is safe 24/7 we thank you once again, keep up the great work you all do.

We visited Mapplewell Manor looking for a care home for respite for my mum. Everyone we dealt with were friendly, helpful and courteous. We found the home and staff excellent and felt we didn't need to look any further and booked Mum in straight away. We attended an assessment for Mum and again were
impressed with all the staff.

I'm very pleased with the care my father-in-law is getting, all the staff are great caring, and supportive. The room is lovely. He has been a lot better while being in Mapplewell Manor. His personality has come back, put on weight, and seems a lot happier. I am very pleased with the care my father-in-law

My father moved into Mapplewell Manor in January 2024 and has been very well looked after from day 1.
All staff are welcoming and very friendly. My father had a UTI recently over a weekend and the carers involved with organising medical care and ensuring he got the right treatment went above and beyond.
Thank you.

My husband has had excellent care nearly all the time during the 20 months he has lived at Mapplewell. Only criticism is he wasn't always showered depending on staff present carers have shown him great affection. He has been safe, secure, and well-nourished. His personal care on the whole has been excellent.
His end-of-life care was exemplary. Thank you.

Mum has been in Sandygate for 7 months and settled in immediately. She has a new lease of life and looks so much better than she did when living on her own. The staff are wonderful, extremely caring, and friendly. There are lots of activities and events and the residents can choose whether or not to
be included. The food is very good and Mum has gone from eating almost nothing to having a very healthy appetite. Thank you for giving us all peace of mind.

Since my Brother-in-law became a resident in February of this year he has been cared for with respect and professionalism that has been a pleasure to see. The way that the staff has encouraged him to take part in numerous activities has helped him to integrate into his new surroundings. His medical
care has been exemplary as have his dietary needs, so much so that he has put on weight.

From the first meeting with the manager, I knew that this care home was for my dad. All staff from admin, carers, registered nurses, laundry staff, cleaners, activity coordinator, pastor and maintenance staff have been amazing. My dad has settled in so well which is a wonderful feeling especially when
I now have to get on a plane home which is abroad. Thank you.

Removed my relative from this care home after an incident of verbal abuse towards her. Abuser reinstated. Would not take the risk of this happening again. Fractured femur, fractured clavicle, and numerous head injuries were recorded whilst residing there. CQC states needs improvement and they are not
wrong.

Reply from Lindsey Grady, Home Manager at The Beeches

At The Beeches we pride ourselves on the quality of care and support provided to our residents. I apologise that on this occasion it would seem that you are dissatisfied with the quality of care provided to your loved one. Please be assured that we risk assess every resident we care for and put measures in place to safeguard them as far as possible, from harm or injury. Even then sometimes accidents can occur, however, when they do we are open and honest and follow our robust safeguarding and reporting procedures. Regarding the instance of verbal abuse, whilst I cannot disclose specific details of the investigation, I can assure you that all policies and procedures were followed to the letter, with the full knowledge and to the satisfaction of both the Adult Safeguarding Board and our regulator the Care Quality Commission.
