Nightingales Nursing Home

Nightingales has and continues to support my Dad who one year ago I did not think would last more than a few months. He is calm and hopefully what time he has left is dignified. From our first interaction with the management team their professionalism shone through. The staff, too many to mention really,
immediately took us under their wing and guided me through the paperwork and getting Dad settled so efficiently it was just such a relief. The communication is excellent. Clear and concise. If they need you to do something non-urgent such as clothes needed or toiletries then an email. Urgent such as hospital admission a well-worded phone call. Nightingales might not have the boutique hotel vibe popular in some homes but it more than steps up in terms of offering good care for the elderly who cannot remain in hospital or at home. Dignity is clearly paramount. They really know the residents which is lovely.

Reply from Carole Harrison, Manager at Nightingales Nursing Home

Thank you for the lovely review it means the world to the team and I will ensure that we pass this on to them at our next meeting.

My mother was cared for with kindness and compassion at the nursing home. The staff are efficient, professional and the home is well run. We are so grateful that her admission was expedited to allow her access to nursing care and that the home looked after her and us, her family, so well when she was
discharged from hospital for end-of-life care. If anyone is looking for residential nursing care they can do no better than Pilling Nursing Home.

Since the arrival of my father, I have been very impressed with the service provided by Pilling Nursing Home. It has been an exemplary level of service they provide.
The 24 hour care provided, looking after the medicine and pain relief and organising oxygen supply - when transition from hospital was
sadly lacking. They took on his case and have turned him around. He is now able to walk and not in pain and has had a complete turnaround.

My grandma was not in the Nursing Home for long. However, the time she spent there was brilliant! The care she received was second to none. Each staff member was always so delightful and very accommodating! My grandma had dementia, however, sadly passed away from other complications that quickly took
a turn for the worse. We will be forever grateful for the team at Pilling Nursing Home, who really went above and beyond to get Grandma back home from hospital to spend her last few days in comfort and with her family around her. Thanks again for everything you all did!

My mother-in-law was only in the nursing home for a few weeks before she sadly passed away. She absolutely loved being in the home and being a social butterfly herself loved the company of the other clients and staff. The love and care she received were second to none, especially in her last few days.
We can't thank the Pilling Nursing Home staff enough, nothing was too much trouble and everyone was treated with love and dignity. The one thing that really impressed us was it didn't have that horrible smell you sometimes get in a nursing home. Well done to the team.

It's reassuring to go and see my son in this care home. He seems very settled and the staff are very good and caring. They are always busy, but always have time to talk to you about my son. They always have a smile on their faces, however busy. I honestly don't know how they cope as there are a lot
of residents, but nothing is too much trouble. They are a credit to the Conifers, they really are, because it's not an easy job.

My mum was moved to Conifers Nursing Home after an exhausting hospital admission. The care and support that both my mum and I have received from staff and management since my mum arrived I believe has been exceptional.
Working as a nurse myself in the NHS. I’ve seen the impact that quality staff can
have on a patient and I truly believe that Conifers has quality staff, from the the accounts administrator, to the care team, activity coordinator through to the manager, who has taken my calls, answered numerous questions, reassured me and most importantly listened. I have witnessed them going that extra mile, knowing that your loved one is in an environment where the caring team, truly care is priceless. Many thanks for all your hard work.

I do visit my sister weekly, not always the same day of the week, so I do get a good overall picture of the standard of care, support and activities offered. Management/staff are always available to any of my concerns.
Rooms, facilities and cleanliness I have found to be good. I never visit at meal
times, as this would take away time I spend with her, but I do look at the menu and the choices offered give a well-balanced diet.

My father has been at the Conifers since 2021. I have been very happy with his care. The home is well staffed and I have found the staff to be friendly, kind and very interactive with their residents. My father has particularly enjoyed time spent in the garden and musical entertainments. The manager
always responds to queries quickly and efficiently.

Mum has lived at St Alban's since November 2022. She tells me she is very happy at the home.
She likes all the staff and I have seen nothing but positive interactions with Mum and other residents when I visit.
Mum likes the food and loves that she can order special dinners and have guests to eat with
her when she wants.
The activity coordinator keeps residents engaged in meaningful activity and encourages them to develop friendships with other residents.
Most of all, the team really understand Mum and provide care and support that is appropriate and heartfelt. Mum says the people who work there, both day and night, are kind and listen to her.
Mum's complex care and nursing needs are delivered to ensure she is safe and well.
I am so happy Mum got to stay in St Alban's, as she got to stay in the community she has lived in for nearly thirty years. Thank you for the amazing birthday afternoon tea recently, which meant Mum could have a special time with her friends and family.

St Alban's Nursing Home

from Ann C (Niece of Resident) published on 14 August 2023
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My 98-year-old aunt was admitted to St Alban's after spending two months in two different hospitals. Prior to her admission, she was mobile with a three-wheeled walking frame. When she arrived at St Alban's she could no longer walk. She was depressed and unhappy. After talking to staff and letting them
know how she was prior to admission to the hospital, they gave her all the assistance, encouragement and care she needed. Within weeks, she was walking with her frame, always with an assistant by her side. They gave her some much-needed confidence in herself. After some months, it was realised that it would not be safe for her to live alme anymore. We moved her to another room with a sea view of a place where she played as a child. She is content and well cared for. She like the staff, enjoys the food and often joins in with entertainment. Her hair is done every couple of weeks, and the chiropodist visits regularly.
When it was her 99th birthday, I was invited to have lunch with her. We had a delicious three-course meal with a glass of sherry!
She is now on her way to her 100th birthday and looking forward to it.

Thanks to the caring and friendly staff my dad has settled in well at St Alban's Nursing Home. Everyone is very welcoming, kind and understanding. Great efforts are made to ensure that my dad's needs are catered for and there is a range of activities on offer to keep him entertained. Unfortunately living
away I cannot visit often, but I am happy to know that he is being looked after very well.

My son was admitted to St Alban's in April 2023 with advanced early-onset dementia. From the start, the staff have been absolutely wonderful with him and, at the same time, so very supportive of our family.
I could not fault anything about the home and could not find words enough to tell how much peace
of mind I now have knowing that my son is, not only well-fed and well cared for, but also that he is treated with love.
The staff are all amazing. Thank you so much, everyone.

It was the hardest decision ever for our family to accept we needed nursing care for my brother and for him to lose his independence and home that he loved. I cannot thank all the staff (across all roles) at St Alban's enough for what they have done since my brother moved in, not only have they made
my brother feel safe, loved and happy, they have made me feel the same too. Settling in to life at the home was very quick, getting to know all the staff and having fun with them. Whilst supporting my brother they are also supporting me and holding me up through this really difficult time. I am welcome in the home whenever I like to see my brother and it feels like my second home, always welcomed with a smile and lots of happy faces when I bring my dog along too. The home is always spotlessly clean and smells the same everyday. The food is amazing and all home cooked. Cups of tea are always offered whenever I want which often comes with a hug if needed.

Reply from Claire Ellwood, Manager at St Alban's Nursing Home

The most outstanding feature of the care home is the way the staff have worked hard to get to know my mother, taking time to talk to her and appreciate her. This has made all the difference to her every day life. My mother has been in other nursing homes but it is at St Alban's Nursing Home that the
staff fully cater to her needs.
