Review of

Chilterns Court Care Centre

from Carole R (Daughter of Resident) published on 10 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5

Dad in CC for week's respite. He cannot walk and mobilises by wheelchair. Had 2 unwitnessed falls during his stay, despite us bringing in motion alarms for bed/chair. Day 4 became confused, started talking gobbledegook which we recognised as start of UTI. Spoke to Head Nurse who promised it would be
checked and if UTI, GP would be called for antibiotics. Next day we asked if Dad had UTI and told it hadn't been dealt with and Dad picked up tummy bug as another resident had one. Clothes went missing, were found in another resident's room as "his daughter had been into the laundry room and helped herself ". Most of the clothes were returned but not all. Spoke to Manager who apologised for the way Dad's week had gone. When Dad came home, complained of a sore bottom and the carers discovered open bed sores. We were very disappointed and upset at Dad's overall care and would not feel comfortable sending him to CC again unless we had reassurance the care would be of a much higher standard.

Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at Chilterns Court Care Centre

The care home is just amazing and lets the family get involved with a lots of the entertainment. Mum feels safe and care for by the staff. They are so friendly. They let us know if mum is struggling or needs anything. It's a big family the entertainment is fabulous. Always keeping mum busy, love the
Summer Fair and Christmas Carol Service.

I want to say thank you to all the staff at Isis House. My wife is very well cared for. I see for myself how happy she is there. The staff are like family to her and all of my family. The activities team and activities are amazing. I enjoy helping with gardening. My wife looks beautifully dressed,
hair done, make up on. This makes us both very happy.

We came to visit the day after she was released from hospital after her fall. Her face was badly bruised and cut she had lost a lot of weight. Didn't know my husband and me at all, had lost so much weight and wouldn't talk, that was in December. Since then she has improved so much in every way. January
she was more herself and by February she looked and talked as she always had, it is now a pleasure to visit. The staff are a delight.

Review of

Avonbourne Care Centre

from Nicola A (Daughter of Resident) published on 9 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

We had to move Mum into Avonbourne after a sudden decline in health. Because of the speed of entry there were a few teething problems which took a few days to resolve. We were able choose Mum a room which was light, bright and spacious with a very nice en suite wet room.
We visited every day for several
hours and saw first hand how kind and caring the staff were, from the Nurses, down to the man who brought the clean washing back. There were occasions when the staff were incredibly stretched due to staff shortages but they always had a smile.
Avonbourne knew from the start that Mum had a terminal illness and would need end of life care. We were assured this could be accommodated, which it was, but we found the delays between the Dr prescribing to the arrival of drugs too long. Not the fault of the staff but the system.
The care and compassion of the staff during Mums final days was outstanding.Thank you.
Someone asked me would I use Avonbourne again, and I think the answer is yes.

My dad has been in the home for 12 months now due to Alzheimer's. It was so scary at first, entrusting his care to others, but this wonderful team has become part of our family. They are incredibly supportive, kind, and helpful. I can't thank them enough.

My husband who has Alzheimer's attends one day per week for day care. He enjoys his time there and the range of activities he takes part in. The stimulus he receives has made him more communicative. Normally, he seldom initiates conversation. He tells me the staff are very pleasant and helpful, this
has been my experience too with those I have dealt with. It is so helpful to me to know that I can leave him in such a caring atmosphere and knowing that he enjoys it.

My dad came into Windsor Street as he was to thriving at home. He was here to be assessed initially, he would not interact. Six weeks later, he is eating, drinking, and interacting with residents and staff. He has felt safe and been extremely well looked after throughout his time. All the staff are
amazing, respectful to my dad. I can't thank them enough.

Dad arrived from hospital following a nasty fall. His mobility and mental capacity had been badly affected. His admission was sympathetic and all the staff have been extremely understanding and caring. He has received help to improve his mobility and cognitive skills. The room is always clean and tidy,
and his clothes are changed as often as required. Very impressed with everything.

Having to put my father in a care home could have been a frightening experience however, the Manager, Lorraine, and all of her staff have been brilliant from day one.
I was kept up to date all along the process and when my father went in he was greeted by everyone.
The home is very well run, clean
and with good hearty food served.
I can honestly say it is a home from home.
