Mum has been there for just a year now and during that time I have seen the pure dedication of all the staff to make her stay happy, as they can be. I have seen the care that they are all given. When my dad died one of the ladies came with mum to the funeral, another time another member of staff took
mum to hospital apt in her own time. Over the year I have got to know many of the staff very well and I can't thank them enough for looking after my mum so well, treating her with such dignity and respect.

Goodson Lodge Care Centre

from Lorraine C (Daughter of Resident) published on 14 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Both my parents suffered from Alzheimer's and my mother was physically very frail. With a heavy heart and much guilt my siblings and I took the decision to move them into Goodson Lodge in 2023 when they were in their late 80's. It was the best thing we could have done. Having become very isolated in
their own home they had a better social life at Goodson than they'd had for years, both taking part in the musical activities, and enjoying chat and banter with the staff throughout the day. Previously it was a struggle to get a GP appointment but at Goodson the same GP visited weekly and got to know them both. They constantly praised the staff, the rooms, the furniture and the gardens. Having them so happy and well cared for was a massive weight off my and my siblings' shoulders, and we were able to enjoy our visits with them rather than fearing what would we would find when we walked in the door. We are so grateful for the care they received from the Goodson staff in their final year.

Avonbourne Care Centre

from Nicola A (Daughter of Resident) published on 9 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

We had to move Mum into Avonbourne after a sudden decline in health. Because of the speed of entry there were a few teething problems which took a few days to resolve. We were able choose Mum a room which was light, bright and spacious with a very nice en suite wet room.
We visited every day for several
hours and saw first hand how kind and caring the staff were, from the Nurses, down to the man who brought the clean washing back. There were occasions when the staff were incredibly stretched due to staff shortages but they always had a smile.
Avonbourne knew from the start that Mum had a terminal illness and would need end of life care. We were assured this could be accommodated, which it was, but we found the delays between the Dr prescribing to the arrival of drugs too long. Not the fault of the staff but the system.
The care and compassion of the staff during Mums final days was outstanding.Thank you.
Someone asked me would I use Avonbourne again, and I think the answer is yes.

Mum has been living in Watermead for just over a year. She is very happy and settled. She enjoys the entertainment, quizzes, bingo, sing along, etc. She is a sociable lady. The staff are very caring and brilliant with the residents and their families. If there are any problems I am always kept up to
date. The only problem Mum has is people entering her room during the night, other residents.

My dad went into Buckland Court on 27th August 2024. Once they got to know him he was moved to a more suitable area of the home catering better to his needs and personality. This happened very quickly and was down to the lovely care staff putting a request forward. Right upto today the care team have
always taken time to involved dad as much as he can manage in the entertainment that takes place weekly.
There has been moments when my Dad has not been happy with the care but this has ben the occasional night shift which I have voiced on my Dads behalf. I recomend this care home.

My mum moved into Goodson Lodge in October 2024. All the staff are amazing and it's very reassuring that many of the staff are the same staff who looked after an elderly friend from June 2021 to November 2022. Everyone is accommodating, helpful and very welcoming. Mum enjoys all her meals and participates
in all the activities. She has made some new friends and is never alone. There is always someone to talk to and be with, she's not lonely anymore since moving into Goodson Lodge. My brother and I have peace of mind that mum is cared for, safe, warm and content in a beautiful care home with compassionate staff.

We found that mums Respite stay of 3 weeks at Hayward Care Centre had been a happy experience.
She loved chatting to the other residents & interaction with the staff.
She was well cared for by the staff who attended to her needs.
We were away for just over 2 weeks, family & mums home careers that
visited all found mum to be well cared for and happy.
At 97 with limited mobility, dementia and not being able to maintain personal hygiene we will use Hayward Care Centre again for Respite whilst we push for funding for residency.
