St Clare's Care Home

from P W (Daughter of Resident) published on 14 April 2025

Dad have developed a great relationship with his carers, who I feel care for him greatly. His wellbeing is paramount to their day-to-day activities, and nothing is a bother for Dad when he asks for help. Dad is always clean, warm and safe which puts my mind at ease. His meals are well prepared, plentiful
with wholesome ingredients and if he misses a meal due to resting he is always provided with a meal on waking. The rooms are basic but once you add your loved one's possessions, they are homely. Activities are available for those who wish to participate these are weekly and at special events (Chrismtas, Easter). The library is well stocked. As a visitor I am always made to feel welcome and any concerns we have as a family are listened to. We are always made aware of any concerns/issues.
No one wants their loved one to become a care home resident but here at St Clare's Dad is part of a new loving family but still part of our family.

Reply from Amanda Pateman, Home Manager at St Clare's Care Home

Thankyou we pride ourselves in providing a homely, safe environment and personalised care to suit all needs, and its always a pleasure when we can involve family and support you through the transaction along with your dad

My grandma is happy and has settled into life at Sandbeck. She's grateful for the lovely team - as are we. I don't live nearby but often hear about what's she's been up to, keeping busy and making friends. And she always has a sense of humour when I get to visit.

Reply from Diane Dunn, Area Manager at Sandbeck House

It's a lovely home. The staff really care for the residents and they go above an beyond to make it a home from home from for them. The food always looks lovely and smells delicious. They have activities most days and they take residents out and about regularly if they able to.

Reply from Diane Dunn, Area Manager at Sandbeck House

Thank you for your kind review of your experience with Sandbeck House. The staff are keen to ensure that residents receive person centred care tailored to their individual needs and their days are filled with interesting fun activities. Staff do not consider Sandbeck as their workplace, but more so the residents home to which they are invited in and try hard to maintain a homely environment.

From the outset 10 months ago, the staff have been excellent with my mum. At times they have been challenged with changes in her behaviour but have always looked after and helped her day and night.
Mum always remarks on how nice all the staff are which helps us as a family to know she is well cared
for.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Sandbeck House to anyone. All the staff are a credit to the care home.

My dad was a resident at St. Clares for 20 months until his death. It was a hard decision to put my dad in a care home but he had the best care ever the manager and all the staff at St. Clares helped my dad settle in and were all lovely to him. They went out of their way to make the experience lovely
for my dad. They even took him to see the brass band he used to play in play.
The building is lovely it's all on one level and has a nice outside courtyard for the residents to sit in. I would definitely if you are looking for a care home that you give this one a try.

My mum spent the last 3 years in Sandbeck House. I was apprehensive about mum going into a nursing home to be honest, but my fears were unfounded the first time I went to see mum the staff was so friendly and welcoming. The manager was so informative and patient explaining the care side, medications
and any medical procedures mum was going to have. The care mum got was exceptional and I could phone mum any time and even have face to face if I wanted to.
When you walked into the home it was like walking into a big extended family the residents all seemed happy there was a lot of banter between staff and residents which was lovely, nothing was too much trouble and the staff was all very caring and patient towards the residents. Mum loved it there and I can't say thank you enough to the manager and her team.

My Mum has been a resident at St. Clare's Care Home for a few months now and I couldn't be happier with the care, compassion and support she has been shown. For personal reasons I can't visit as often as I would like but I feel confident she is completely safe and being well looked after. The home is
always clean and smells fresh and the food is lovely. The staff, in every role, are approachable and have been really supportive towards me during Mums transition into residential care. High recommended.

To the management and all the team at Sandbeck, thank you so much for your outstanding care of my stepfather in the last few weeks of his life. He was only at Sandbeck for 3 weeks, but from the moment he came to you, to the moment he passed away, your level of care was over and above anything we could
have hoped for. With us living so far away, you kept us well-informed between visits. He was very happy with you and as his condition deteriorated and hospice care was offered, all he wanted to do was stay in your care. You have an exceptional team! Thank you.

My dad has lived at Sandbeck for a number of years now and always says there is nowhere else he'd rather live. The fact he considers it home says a great deal.
I have always found the staff to be caring and compassionate - both with residents and loved ones; available to speak to, promoting open and
honest conversations if there are any worries or concerns and making the time to listen, and respond to, the views of residents and their loved ones.
My dad has always enjoyed the range of activities regularly organised - be they in-home or out-and-about. There are frequent themed events organised which loved ones are invited to and which are always enjoyed by all.
In what must be at times a challenging and stressful sector to work in, I've always felt that the Sandbeck staff team prioritise patient care above all else; care that also extends to the loved ones of their residents.

My mom was left in the lounge all day and there were little no activities, they used the TV in replace of face-to-face contact. My mom was only there for one week's respite. She has come back in a very poor state, her mental health has suffered. The home was understaffed so she was not taken to the
toilet when she needed and the home desperately needs renovation. My mom suffers from mobility and Parkinson's. I work all over the UK in care homes and hospitals. I would never recommend this place to anyone ever again.
