My dad didn't want to go for respite, but went and now he doesn't want to come home! So it must be making him happy.
The staff are so friendly and really hard working.
Everything is spotless and clean.
I'm very happy my dad is in their care.

Reply from Diane Dunn, Area Manager at Sandbeck House

Thank you for your kind review of the service your dad is receiving at Sandbeck House. It is always difficult to accept moving into a care home but I am pleased to hear that your dad is so happy that he wants to stay with us. The team always work hard to ensure people receive a good standard of care, feel supported during their stay and have a positive experience.

My dad was a resident at St. Clares for 20 months until his death. It was a hard decision to put my dad in a care home but he had the best care ever the manager and all the staff at St. Clares helped my dad settle in and were all lovely to him. They went out of their way to make the experience lovely
for my dad. They even took him to see the brass band he used to play in play.
The building is lovely it's all on one level and has a nice outside courtyard for the residents to sit in. I would definitely if you are looking for a care home that you give this one a try.

Reply from Amanda Pateman, Home Manager at St Clare's Care Home

Thank you for your kind words. We strive to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible for both residents and families and that we can support them to carry on with past hobbies and interests we will.

My mum spent the last 3 years in Sandbeck House. I was apprehensive about mum going into a nursing home to be honest, but my fears were unfounded the first time I went to see mum the staff was so friendly and welcoming. The manager was so informative and patient explaining the care side, medications
and any medical procedures mum was going to have. The care mum got was exceptional and I could phone mum any time and even have face to face if I wanted to.
When you walked into the home it was like walking into a big extended family the residents all seemed happy there was a lot of banter between staff and residents which was lovely, nothing was too much trouble and the staff was all very caring and patient towards the residents. Mum loved it there and I can't say thank you enough to the manager and her team.

My Mum has been a resident at St. Clare's Care Home for a few months now and I couldn't be happier with the care, compassion and support she has been shown. For personal reasons I can't visit as often as I would like but I feel confident she is completely safe and being well looked after. The home is
always clean and smells fresh and the food is lovely. The staff, in every role, are approachable and have been really supportive towards me during Mums transition into residential care. High recommended.

To the management and all the team at Sandbeck, thank you so much for your outstanding care of my stepfather in the last few weeks of his life. He was only at Sandbeck for 3 weeks, but from the moment he came to you, to the moment he passed away, your level of care was over and above anything we could
have hoped for. With us living so far away, you kept us well-informed between visits. He was very happy with you and as his condition deteriorated and hospice care was offered, all he wanted to do was stay in your care. You have an exceptional team! Thank you.

The Grosvenor Hall Care Home exemplifies everything good about the finest residential care on offer. I was privileged to be invited to stay following a traffic accident. I shall always remember how lovely, spotless and comfortable the whole premises were. The staff are wonderful. I felt safe, comfortable
and cared for all the time. They work so hard, are professional, caring and looked after us as if they were family. The food was excellent. Lots of choice and such healthy dishes. There can be no better place to stay in England. Thanks to all of you.

My mother was here for a short period until her sad passing. The staff here, that's all the staff are brilliant, friendly, sympathetic and warm-hearted. Always seemed to help and were a great support when my mum passed. I cannot highly recommend this care home.

Efficient Staff who are very caring and friendly.
Comfortable rooms, good food. Do activities with the patients to keep them active. The home is clean but could do with a coat of paint here and there.

from A Y (Son of Resident) published on 16 August 2024

My dad has lived at Sandbeck for a number of years now and always says there is nowhere else he'd rather live. The fact he considers it home says a great deal.
I have always found the staff to be caring and compassionate - both with residents and loved ones; available to speak to, promoting open and
honest conversations if there are any worries or concerns and making the time to listen, and respond to, the views of residents and their loved ones.
My dad has always enjoyed the range of activities regularly organised - be they in-home or out-and-about. There are frequent themed events organised which loved ones are invited to and which are always enjoyed by all.
In what must be at times a challenging and stressful sector to work in, I've always felt that the Sandbeck staff team prioritise patient care above all else; care that also extends to the loved ones of their residents.

My mom was left in the lounge all day and there were little no activities, they used the TV in replace of face-to-face contact. My mom was only there for one week's respite. She has come back in a very poor state, her mental health has suffered. The home was understaffed so she was not taken to the
toilet when she needed and the home desperately needs renovation. My mom suffers from mobility and Parkinson's. I work all over the UK in care homes and hospitals. I would never recommend this place to anyone ever again.

Reply from Diane Dunn, Area Manager at Sandbeck House

Thank you for taking the time to review our care home. Our organisation aims to ensure that anyone who uses our services has a positive experience during their stay. We operate an open door policy where any concerns can be discussed and rectified at the time. Our staff strive to maintain good standards of care to all residents during their stay with us. I am sorry to hear that you feel your mother's short experience was not as positive as we all would have expected and we will take on board your comments to ensure that people using the service do experience positive outcomes. My Father was residing in Grosvenor care home for nearly five years and has received constant care and attention, sometimes exceeding our expectations. The kindness of their staff has moved us on many occasions. I can only recommend this care home if you look for a place to welcome your loved one, particularly
if they have Alzheimer's disease. Despite his mental and physical decline, he has enjoyed his time there and we can only be grateful to the staff and residents who helped him live the last years of his life comfortably.

My mum was brought here after her knee operation in hospital.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful. She was unable to get out of bed, but staff were good changing her nappies when needed. Meals were a bit hit and miss, but I was staying with her so I was able to top up. Beeping from the call
buttons were very annoying all through the night.

Reply from Care For Your Life, Management at Grosvenor Hall Care Home

Thank you for your review and feedback. We appreciate it. We acknowledge that the call bells can be annoying at times, and we aim to respond to them as quickly as possible to minimise disruption. While we cannot fully avoid this, we will look into reducing the volume during the night if possible. We are also sorry to hear that you find the food to be a bit hit-and-miss. We have a system in place to record what food has been offered to residents and how much they have eaten. Your feedback is valuable to us, and we will review this further to improve our service.

The staff are all very friendly and always have a smile, there are activities for all residents, they try to get them all involved so they get used to socialising. It's a very calm atmosphere, my dad is very content and well looked after. It's more like a hotel.
I highly recommend.

Review of

Grosvenor Hall Care Home

from Alexandra F (Relative of Resident) published on 3 May 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5

I have worked in the care sector for a number of years and have worked in this sector for many of them. I have never worked in the home, however, I have been a visitor for the past 2 years. The first year appeared satisfactory. Unfortunately in this last 12 months, myself and family have witnessed many
changes within the home and unfortunately all not positive. My relative and other residents I noticed, never had hygiene and toileting needs met whenever myself or other relatives visited. I had to ask for 3 weeks for her nails to be cleaned to no avail resulting in doing it myself. Staff at times could be very rude and appeared uncaring. On end of life, we weren't told until I visited the next day, along with an unexplained cut to her toe that I had to point out to be treated before infection. End of life medication was in the building however we had to plead with 2 nurses to administer the much needed medication with the backing of 3 staff members at the home. A very disappointing ordeal.

Reply from Dattatreya Avinash Thotli, Director at Grosvenor Hall Care Home

Thank you for your review and we are really sorry for your experience you may have had. We have looked into the issue following your review and we understand this has been escalated during your visits and has already been dealt with. We take the quality of our care very seriously and we have fully trained and qualified nurses in the building 24/7 along with management teams available on call at all times. Upon reviewing the issue, we can see the evidence of all the necessary steps taken and the care is delivered appropriately in accordance with the residents' needs and based on the recommendations given by the multidisciplinary team. We understand these situations can be distressing and we are sorry again if you may have faced any inconvenience. Though we could not find any issues at this time, we have taken your comments to review our service again and improve further with any lessons learned. Thank you for your feedback again!
