I attended Valentine's afternoon tea with my mother, a resident at Clover leaf. The 'cafe' room was well decorated in a valentine's theme and delicious cakes sandwiches cut in a heart shape and jam + cream scones were served. The staff were wonderful, particularly one member of staff who put a huge
amount of effort in to the event. In addition a personalised gift was given to me hand made by my mum which was a lovely touch. Thank you.

Friendly and excellent care. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the team, always lovely and warm and spotless cleanliness every where. When my mother came to avocet house for rest bite her mobility was very poor and she was unable to walk and use the bathroom, within a short time she was able to
walk with a frame and use the bathroom with help then with wonderful care she was able to progress to a walker and was able to get about by herself and use the bathroom by herself, after such wonderful care she was able to return to her bungalow, she was very happy while she was in avocet house and although she is pleased to be home she does miss the wonderful team and residents. Our family are very grateful to all the team at Avocet House.

Richard House Care Home

from G L (Brother of Resident) published on 28 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5

I have visited my brother three times on a Saturday morning recently at about 10.00 to 10.30 am. Each time he was not out of bed and had not been given any breakfast. After the first occasion I gave the care home a description of my findings on their website and a manager rang me to advise that she
would later respond in detail. I have received no reply to date.
There clearly seems to be a shortage of carers on duty at certain times.
The care home staff all seem very pleasant people who have been very helpful when I have visited and I am sure they all work very hard. However, perhaps they do not have the time to attend to the small details that can improve the quality of life for a resident, that has very little mobility.
The care home is very nicely furnished and is very clean. The staff should be commended for this.
As an accountant I fully understand that the care home needs to be financially viable but I hope the lack of staff is not being done to maximise profits.

Review of

Humberston House Care Home

from Jonathan S (Son of Resident) published on 26 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I was always determined never to put either of my parents in a care home. The name 'care home' itself was a contradiction in my mind. It would be neither genuinely caring and certainly nothing like a real home. Even if the facilities are shiny and new, it would still be a soulless institution. I was
wrong. At least, when it comes to my father's experience at Humberston House, nothing could be further from the truth. The final year of his life was spent here surrounded by some of the most caring people you could meet, who made dad feel valued every day. Dad was always treated with genuine dignity and affection from his arrival to the day of his passing when all the staff lined the hallway as a mark of resect. I should also mention that staff not only looked after my father incredibly well, they also made my mother, who visited dad almost daily, feel welcome and included and did little extra things for her which went above and beyond.
This is a Care Home in the true sense of the words.

Reply from Alicia Bradon, Sales Manager at Humberston House Care Home

Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt and moving review. We understand how difficult it can be to place a loved one in care, and it means so much to us that your father's experience at Humberston House changed your perspective. Providing compassionate, dignified, and truly personal care is at the heart of what we do, and we are deeply touched to hear that our team made your father feel valued every day. It was an honour to care for him and to support your mother during this time. The small gestures that make a difference to our residents and their families are something we take great pride in, and we are grateful for your recognition. Your kind words are a testament to the dedication of our team, and we will be sure to share them with the team. Please accept our deepest condolences for your loss. This care home is fantastic. The place is immaculate and the staff could not do enough for my step-mum or for the family either. The rooms are lovely and spacious and have a real homely feel to them. My step mum was treated with dignity at all times. I also noticed how happy all the other residents
seem to be. We certainly felt relaxed when we had to leave on my step-mums first night staying here. We were relieved as we could see she was getting the first class treatment she deserved. The staff here made a very difficult time just that little bit easier and we will forever be grateful to them for that.

Hunter's Creek Nursing Home

from Gillian J (Partner of Resident) published on 26 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5

My partner was in this home for respite. He was put on to the dementia floor. There he lost most of his clothes. I found him wearing someone else's clothes. I had taken his clothes in labelled with his name, but they still went missing, coat, shoes and finally his toiletries bag and glasses all gone
missing. So he had not shaved in days because he had no means to do so. All his washing soap etc. had gone. When I mentioned this to the staff many times nothing got sorted. I did try to find his glasses myself and looked all over for his toiletries bag but nothing happened to turn up. I then found a plastic bag with dirty clothes in e.g. dirty pants covered in poo, which I took home and disposed of.

We are delighted with the care my mother receives at York Manor Care Home. The staff are compassionate, professional and genuine in the care they provide. The facilities are bright, clean and the decor is equivalent to a high end hotel. York Manor has given us peace of mind, knowing mum is being cared
for in a such a lovely place with caring staff, activities to keep her occupied and three good meals a day. We have already recommended York Manor to several friends, which is a testament to our endorsement.

I'm very impressed by everything at this care home. My mum is a resident here and she is treated with the utmost respect by the staff.
In my opinion and others in my family, this is without doubt the place for mum to be.
Mum's memories may be fading but she's always smiling when we visit and tells
us that she likes her new home.

Our father has recently joined Cloverleaf Nursing Home and is thoroughly enjoying himself, particularly the opportunity to join in with daily activities! The whole team is wonderful and caring. All areas of the home are spotlessly clean. One thing we appreciate as a family is how welcome we are made
