I attended Valentine's afternoon tea with my mother, a resident at Clover leaf. The 'cafe' room was well decorated in a valentine's theme and delicious cakes sandwiches cut in a heart shape and jam + cream scones were served. The staff were wonderful, particularly one member of staff who put a huge
amount of effort in to the event. In addition a personalised gift was given to me hand made by my mum which was a lovely touch. Thank you.

Friendly and excellent care. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the team, always lovely and warm and spotless cleanliness every where. When my mother came to avocet house for rest bite her mobility was very poor and she was unable to walk and use the bathroom, within a short time she was able to
walk with a frame and use the bathroom with help then with wonderful care she was able to progress to a walker and was able to get about by herself and use the bathroom by herself, after such wonderful care she was able to return to her bungalow, she was very happy while she was in avocet house and although she is pleased to be home she does miss the wonderful team and residents. Our family are very grateful to all the team at Avocet House.

Richard House Care Home

from G L (Brother of Resident) published on 28 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5

I have visited my brother three times on a Saturday morning recently at about 10.00 to 10.30 am. Each time he was not out of bed and had not been given any breakfast. After the first occasion I gave the care home a description of my findings on their website and a manager rang me to advise that she
would later respond in detail. I have received no reply to date.
There clearly seems to be a shortage of carers on duty at certain times.
The care home staff all seem very pleasant people who have been very helpful when I have visited and I am sure they all work very hard. However, perhaps they do not have the time to attend to the small details that can improve the quality of life for a resident, that has very little mobility.
The care home is very nicely furnished and is very clean. The staff should be commended for this.
As an accountant I fully understand that the care home needs to be financially viable but I hope the lack of staff is not being done to maximise profits.

Hunter's Creek Nursing Home

from Gillian J (Partner of Resident) published on 26 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5

My partner was in this home for respite. He was put on to the dementia floor. There he lost most of his clothes. I found him wearing someone else's clothes. I had taken his clothes in labelled with his name, but they still went missing, coat, shoes and finally his toiletries bag and glasses all gone
missing. So he had not shaved in days because he had no means to do so. All his washing soap etc. had gone. When I mentioned this to the staff many times nothing got sorted. I did try to find his glasses myself and looked all over for his toiletries bag but nothing happened to turn up. I then found a plastic bag with dirty clothes in e.g. dirty pants covered in poo, which I took home and disposed of.

Reply from Alicia Bradon, Sales Manager at Hunter's Creek Nursing Home

Thank you for taking the time to review Hunter's Creek. We regret that you are dissatisfied with some aspects of the care provided at our home. As the Home Manager, I take your concerns very seriously and hope that the issue regarding the missing items has been resolved with their prompt retrieval. We are committed to enhancing the quality of life for our residents, which sometimes requires implementing measures to ensure their safety, such as ensuring toiletries are stored in a safe locked space. We take all feedback and concerns seriously and continuously work hard to ensure that the well-being and safety of our residents remain a priority.

Mum has been in approximately a year now and the transformation in her is incredible. Other than the Alzheimer's, every other part of mum's life has improved so much. She's eating great meals, she's surrounded by fantastic residents and the carers really are our extended family. We are very lucky to
have found such a wonderful home for her, huge weight lifted from our minds as a family.
Just today alone, she's had a haircut, participated in the exercise, had a fabulous lunch with seconds on the pudding and when I left, a singer was just setting up!
What a great home she lives in.
Credit to the manager and his fantastic team.
Thank you.

My mother moved into the home a few months ago now. If I am honest I was dreading it but due to her illnesses there were no other option. I can genuinely say it was the best decision for her, both the care staff and management have been amazing and very helpful when I have been unsure about things,
reassuring both my mother and myself. She's settled in well and the staff have always ensured mum's privacy and dignity is maintained at all times. The food always looks nice and very appetising, always having different options available. I would recommend Sandpiper to anyone that is looking for a home for their loved ones.

Richard House Care Home

from C D (Daughter of Resident) published on 4 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My dear father became a resident at Richard House Care Home in May 2024 due to his lack of mobility and need of 24 hour care. He was 95 years old at this time. He had this 96th birthday on 2nd September 2024. Dad was looked after so well. The carers were kind and considerate towards him at all times.
He had little appetite, yet the home cooked him what he felt able to eat. I visited dad most days, and was always made to feel welcome. I cannot speak highly enough of the care home. It is more like a 5 star hotel than a care home. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone. If there was something that dad needed, extra the staff always went that extra mile. First class all round.

Reply from Alicia Bradon, Sales Manager at Richard House Care Home

Thank you so much for sharing such a touching review about your father's time at Richard House Care Home. We are truly honoured to have had the privilege of caring for him and supporting your family during his stay. Your kind words about our team's kindness, consideration, and dedication mean the world to us. We understand how important it is to create a warm, welcoming environment not just for our residents but also for their loved ones, and we're delighted to hear that you always felt at home when visiting your dad. It's wonderful to know that our team's efforts to cater to your father's needs, from preparing meals he could enjoy to going the extra mile whenever needed, made a difference. We strive to provide not just care, but compassionate, personalised support-and your feedback truly reflects that. Thank you again for your heartfelt recommendation.

The staff and the management are all friendly, positive and helpful. They are supportive of the residents and treat them all with understanding and dignity. The catering is also excellent, with a choice of dishes, that are all cooked on the premises. My only criticism would be that residents' requests
are sometimes not communicated well between the carers. For example, a request to have a bath is not always passed on to the next shift. In summary, I would highly recommend Cloverleaf Nursing Home.

Review of

Hunter's Creek Nursing Home

All I can say is that this place was chaotic. My partner did not receive good quality care and £££s worth of his belongings went missing. The place stank and our shoes stuck to the floor every time we visited.

Reply from Rebecca Yeomans, Home Manager at Hunter's Creek Nursing Home

I am deeply saddened and rather shocked by this. Whilst the gentleman's children were happy with the care provided, we had separately received concerns from the reviewer which we take incredibly seriously. We are acting upon this concern and will endeavour to assure the reviewer where we feel developments to the service are required. We take our responsibility to all residents with the utmost dedication and where this is not achieved, we act to ensure that high standards are met and maintained for present and future residents.

My wife with later stages of Alzheimer's dementia seemed to be happy here with the staff and residents. She was secure and well looked after.
