Hunter's Creek Nursing Home

from S J (Son of Resident) published on 15 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

Mum lived with dementia for too many years, 8 of those years were spent at Hunters Creek. Mum was well cared for at the home, by staff that liked her and even loved her. Food was nutritious, the environment and her room were regularly cleaned. Staff were friendly and chatty, whilst mum was able to partake,
various daily activities were available including live entertainment. During mum's final days, the staff really stepped up. The loving care they showed mum was touching. The support they offered me was invaluable. I'll miss my regular visits. Thank you Hunters Creek.

Review of

Richard House Care Home

from D N (Son of Resident) published on 15 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My family member has been living at Richard House Care Home for more than a year now, their dementia has progressed but behaviour has improved, this is partly due to the medication but is also due to to the hard work of the staff in identifying the trigger points and getting the support of external
bodies to assist where required. Almost all of the staff are supportive to the residents and pro-active in their approach, I have noticed that the staff that are not as supportive or pro-active do not seem to last long in the home. Cleaning is very good at the home and my family member creates them a lot of cleaning work. The staff monitor and record all food and drink that they give to the residents to ensure that they are getting fluids and nutrition, this is particularly important to know as my family member can't remember when they last ate or drank. It was good to see the animals at the home this week, lots of the residents enjoyed this visit. Thank you to all staff.

about how the team have been so kind to him. He is very happy there and it shows. Thank you for giving such amazing care to someone so special to us

Mum has been a resident at Hunters Creek for just over a year. She has quite advanced dementia and displayed really challenging behaviour when she arrived. Hunters Creek staff took it all in their stride. I have never sensed any impatience or irritation from any of the care staff. Mum settled down eventually
and seems content with life for the first time in at least 5 years. Her weight has stopped dropping. She is no longer anxious, distressed, angry or aggressive. Nor is she sedated. Hunters Creek staff know her by name and any one of them that I have asked has been able to update me immediately as to how she is. This is a large care home with numerous residents. It suits Mum far better than the smaller one she came from. The opportunity for social interaction is greater but Mum can choose to withdraw to her own space when she wants. I am very impressed with the balanced care and attention she has received.

The care shown to Mum as been brilliant. To see the change in Mum is so good to see. It is not only the family that has noticed the change. I attended a hospital appointment at the hospital diabetic foot clinic. The doctors were amazed at just how well her ulcers were healing since moving from another
care home. The overall appearance of the skin on her legs and feet is so much better now that they are being cream regularly like they had ask. Only a month yet so much improvement in that time. It is so good to see the manager and care manager ( Julie and Jack ) do shifts nursing and caring and not sitting in office all the time. They are leading a great team. Thanks go to everyone for making Mum so welcome and cared for and bring the smile back. Sharon Asher

Cedar Falls Nursing Home

from Jim H (Son of Resident) published on 2 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My Dad has been in Cedar Falls since last June. He arrived in a very poorly state, both physically and mentally. Over time his condition has improved in improbable ways, both physically and mentally. His own determination is no doubt a large part of that, but it's been nurtured by the outstanding care
within the home. Particularly the care staff themselves and the nurses, who show genuine warmth and affection for him, as well as professionalism. I'm very happy with Dad's care at Cedar Falls.

Words cannot adequately express my thanks for the care given to my mum at end of life.
The entire team, because that's what they are, a superb team, showed the utmost care, respect and kindness. From the carers, front of house, housekeeping, management, domestic including the chefs, activity coordinators
- everyone I met treated my mum and me , my sister and other family members with extreme kindness, respect . I was overwhelmed by their care. Every member of staff was cheerful, made time to explain what was happening, always knocked before entering mum's room, always asked and explained to mum what they were doing as they cared for mum. My sister and I were fully included in mum's care plan. The staff were so supportive of us . Their kindness and gentleness, especially when mum died made a sad and difficult time a little more bearable.
My one regret is that mum didn't move here when she was fitter as she would have enjoyed the wonderful programme of activities on offer.

Friendly and excellent care. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the team, always lovely and warm and spotless cleanliness every where. When my mother came to avocet house for rest bite her mobility was very poor and she was unable to walk and use the bathroom, within a short time she was able to
walk with a frame and use the bathroom with help then with wonderful care she was able to progress to a walker and was able to get about by herself and use the bathroom by herself, after such wonderful care she was able to return to her bungalow, she was very happy while she was in avocet house and although she is pleased to be home she does miss the wonderful team and residents. Our family are very grateful to all the team at Avocet House.

Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your mother's journey at Avocet House. It means the world to us to hear how our dedicated team was able to support her recovery and independence. Seeing her regain mobility and confidence is exactly why we do what we do, and we're so pleased she felt happy and well cared for during her stay. We truly appreciate your gratitude, and we'll be sure to pass on your lovely feedback to the team.
