Whilst my mother was living at Middleton Lodge, she was really well looked after. The staff were so kind and sensitive to her needs.
Her room was of a generous size and nicely decorated.
All the staff worked hard but were also pleasant and caring.

The care my grandmother receives at Middleton Lodge is excellent. All the staff who work there, including the care team, housekeepers, activity coordinators etc are all extremely friendly and welcoming. They go out of their way to ensure the residents are happy and safe and receiving the best care possible.
The facilities are always very clean and tidy with lovely spacious bedrooms for the residents and nice common areas for them.

I've been living here at Middleton since April 2024 and I can truly say I have no regrets about choosing this care home. The staff do their best to give the place a nice/friendly atmosphere.
Finding things for us to take part in must be a challenge, as everybody's tastes are different. Consistency
that Middleton is only about 10 months old, the staff have provided us with quite a variety of activities to try. The food on offer hasn't always pleased all residents but the new chef is already looking good. We are looked after very well by the staff dealing with our medicines. I think anyone who chooses to live here will not be disappointed.

Mum has been a resident at Middleton Lodge for just over a year. After a very stressful start, Mum is now settled in her new home.
The care home is beautifully furnished, always clean and the rooms are very spacious. The staff are absolutely wonderful - from a friendly greeting at reception/updates
from the lovely staff, kind, approachable and down-to-earth manager - we couldn't ask for more! Mum rarely participates in activities but the lovely "Pink Ladies" are always organising wonderful things for the residents to take part in - they even had an "early doors" New Year's Eve party, which, to my delight, Mum actually attended and she was the happiest I have seen her in a very, very long time. Mum isn't a big eater and tends to sleep a lot (sometimes missing regular meal times) but the staff will ensure that she has something to eat anytime, day or night.
I am confident that Mum is safe and being carefully looked after and we know we can visit at any time. Thank you.

Mum became very unwell and unsafe to be at home alone so we made a family decision to get her into some emergency respite while we sorted a more permanent solution. She had stayed at Derby Heights for respite a couple of year ago and because we were so impressed they were are first place to contact.
From the moment I made the initial call Derby Heights team were so helpful and reassuring at such a difficult time for us. They found mum a room at very short notice. The care home is absolutely fantastic and has more the feel of a luxury hotel. Mum is in for 4 weeks and has recovered so much better with all the excellent support from all the team members, the excellent food and the overall great atmosphere as soon as you walk in. As a family since mum has been in respite we have felt so relaxed as she is very safe and well cared for, which gives us time to breathe ourselves. If mum does need to move into a permanent are home in the future Derby Heights will be our first call. A great team.

Thank you so much for your review, it is very much appreciated. We were delighted to have mum stay with us and see the improvement she has made during her stay. It is pleasure to play a part in her recovery so that she can return home. Thank you again.

I came to live at Middleton Lodge Care Home in March 2024. I am very happy here, I have made some lovely friends from both residents and staff. Most of the time I feel I am on holiday in a five star hotel. All the staff are caring and very helpful, nothing is too much trouble for them. There are lots
of interests catered for so you can be busy or quiet as you choose. Your health and well being are well looked after.

My husband has been in Middleton Lodge for nearly a year. From not walking, no communication and not being able to eat properly, moving forward to December, he is walking slowly, eating well and most days very happy. He has severe Vascular Dementia. But this home is like a big hug, the staff are very
caring, lovely place. He has also visited the mini Christmas Fair in the home in December.

Service is sometimes slow.

My father has been in the care home for about 6 months. He has settled in well and he seems very contented in the home. The staff seem to be very supportive and my father seems to respond well to them. We as a family have no concerns and feel that he is being well looked after.

How kind of you to give your feedback, it is very much appreciated. From the day your father arrived with us he settled in and took part in activities and socialising with staff and residents alike. It has been lovely to see him enjoying his food and to this day he remains a smiley, friendly member of the Derby Heights family.

Mum had a wonderful time at Derby Heights during her recent respite stay. She has never stopped talking about the events held during her stay and the lovely people she met. Her only complaint was the noise, being used to living alone mum found the TV in the adjacent room to be intrusive. The garden
room was superb with clean fresh surfaces and fittings in good order. Mum wouldn't hesitate to stay at Derby Heights again if the opportunity arose.

Thank you for your feedback, we appreciate the review as it helps us to continually improve. It was a pleasure to have mum stay with us for a second time. I am so pleased to hear she enjoyed the activities, it was lovely to see her engaged and also making lots of friends. We certainly look forward to her next stay with us!

I visit at least twice a week. Very friendly staff. The rooms are lovely and usually clean. My family member who is a resident is not always a fan of the menu but does say it's improving. She is well cared for and the staff have all been lovely and engaged with her.

Reply from Laura Wood, Customer Service Manager at Derby Heights Care Home - Avery Healthcare

We are so grateful for your feedback it is very helpful to all the staff in order to enhance the experience for our residents. We have implemented a Food Group Meeting with residents and the Head Chef to discuss menus and preferences, this is open to all residents. As a result, we have changed our menu to reflect the feedback received. Additionally, the Chef visits each resident on a monthly basis along with a member from every department of the home, to check that we are meeting their wishes and needs, as part of our Resident of the Day initiative.

Mum felt very comfortable at Derby Heights and said everyone was kind and supportive. The standard of care was very good. She made a lot of friends (both residents and staff) and was sad to leave. Thank you for making her experience a great one!

Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. My second-floor room was lovely and everywhere well-furnished and comfortable. Number of pillows on bed was a nuisance and nowhere to put them as I only needed one. Meals were good on the whole but no menu on the second floor. The eggs at breakfast were always
hard as they had to stand a long time. Some fresh fruit at breakfast would have been nice. Just teething troubles I think. Disabled parking needs to be monitored as it was abused.

Reply from Joanne Graves, Home Manager at Middleton Lodge Care Home - Avery Healthcare

Thank you for your kind comments and your feedback is appreciated. Fresh fruit is now available on all floors throughout the day but we will ensure that this is available at breakfast. We are purchasing display stands for the top floor menus so that these are available.

The actual home is excellent. The cleanliness, food and drink are also excellent. Staff can only be as good as recruitment allows. Sometimes shortages cause hardship e.g. my friend being put into bed at 1:30 am.

Reply from Joanne Graves, Home Manager at Middleton Lodge Care Home - Avery Healthcare

I am sorry that you feel the staff are only as good as recruitment allows. Recruitment can be challenging at times and I am pleased to say that the staff team that we do have has the resident's best interests at heart. As a home, we deliver person-centred care and as much as is practically possible we will support residents to maintain their lifestyle choices and sometimes this means that they choose to retire in the early hours.

We were very impressed with the level of care mum and dad received at Derby Heights. All the staff were very approachable and the care team did an excellent job with mum's complicated needs. The care ran through the whole building whether it be maintenance, housekeeping, laundry and they always had
time to pop into mum's room and show a genuine interest. As a family, we were able to relax knowing they were well cared for and had friendships with other residents. Whether it be grandchildren or great-grandchildren visiting we were all made to feel so welcome.

We were privileged to care for both parents at different times and most latterly mum. We have all had a very special relationship with all members of the family which we have benefitted from as a care home and it is lovely that you still drop by and visit. It is so appreciated that you have taken the time to share your thoughts with us and we are delighted to hear that you were happy with the care and compassion of our team.
