Seagrave House Care Home - Avery Healthcare

from Tracy D (Daughter of Resident) published on 26 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Our mum moved here in January 2023 after a stroke and nasty fall at home knocked her confidence. We considered a few homes and visited another but the moment we entered Seagrave and she met and spoke with a few of the staff and residents she knew this was where she wanted to be.
The first few months
were incredibly difficult due to a few health set backs including a few awful times in Kettering General Hospital when she came out a complete mess and it was the wonderful team at Seagrave that pulled her together again.
In the early days her personality changed so much that we struggled to cope and the team held our hands every step. It took a while but the staff are so patient and she eventually settled down and returned to being our lovely mum again.
There's a few activities that go on but mum's not really a joiner preferring her books, although the carpet bowls and anything musical usually draw her in.
It's absolutely the staff that make Seagrave the lovely place it is.

Cliftonville Care Home - Avery Healthcare

from Adele H (Daughter of Resident) published on 21 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I'm writing to express my sincere gratitude for the exceptional care my mother received during her time at Cliftonville. Although her residency was less than a year, she sadly passed away, 1st Nov 24, the care she received was truly remarkable. The staff went above and beyond in ensuring mum comfort
and well-being. From the cleaner who brightened her day with friendly chats, to the carers who listened attentively and made time for her, everyone's dedication was evident. The management team for their consistent commitment to her care.
During her last month she was under palliative care, the nurses' compassion, respect, dignity, and love were unwavering. The support extended beyond my mother's passing, providing my family and me with much-needed comfort during an incredibly difficult time. The entire team at Cliftonville are true angels, I cannot thank them enough for everything they did. I highly recommend Cliftonville to anyone seeking compassionate and dedicated care for loved ones.

Review of

Dukes Court Care Home - Avery Healthcare

from Dawn B (Daughter of Resident) published on 10 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5

I am extremely disappointed with the treatment my vulnerable 86 year old mother received at Dukes court care home. On 21st December 2024, the care home took my confused and vulnerable mother to hospital and abandoned her there without any family present. On 26th December 2024, the hospital declared
my mother fit to return to Dukes Court, but the care home refused to take her back. To add insult to injury I arranged for £100 spending money to be transferred to my mothers account each month, the final amount left my mothers bank account on 30th December 2024 On 27th January 2025 I emailed the home to request that money back, on 27th February 2025 the £100 has still not been transferred back to her account. I feel deeply let down by the way Dukes Court handled my mothers care and would strongly advise others to reconsider placing their loved ones in this facility. Compassion, patience and understanding should be the foundation of any care home - unfortunately, we did not find that here.

Overall, we are very pleased with the care Mum gets at Seagrave. We had that she is safe, warm and well fed.
It would be good if there were more activities every day, and if the staff could use every meal time to inform the residents of activities that are about to take place and where they are. Most
of the time Mum doesn't attend because she has forgotten or didn't know they were on. The new activities member of staff is better at going around the rooms to let residents know.

Reply from Stacey Hetherington, Home Manager at Seagrave House Care Home - Avery Healthcare

Thank you for your review and feedback, we are very pleased that you feel that your mother is safe and supported with the care that she requires. I will share your feedback with the team in relation to the activities in the home. Kindest regards.

From my first visit I always found the staff very caring and kind, and they looked after my friend very well indeed. After she had been in hospital she had lost 1 1/2 stone, within a few weeks of tempting food she is back to full health. A big thing with me is smell. No smell in this home, its clean,
bright and warm. All residents are happy and I always get a warm welcome.

The continuity of staff at Dukes Court Care Home is impressive and makes a huge difference to mum's care as they truly know her well. They also listen and act immediately on any issues/concerns. They have an open door policy which is great but they have also offered 1:1 face or online meetings to discuss
the care and welfare of mum, which was greatly appreciated.

Since my husband has been at Ashurst Mews Care Home he has been cared for excellently. He is always treated with respect and dignity and if I advise the staff on any of his preferences they are always considered and instigated. The home always has a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. His care is

My wife is now receiving permanent nursing care after initial respite care. Her medical needs for Alzheimer's are overseen by experienced nurses and care staff who deal with any necessary blood tests, hospital and doctor appointments.
I selected Spencer House Care Home following extensive online and
personal visit research and have been totally satisfied by the high quality of personal care and attention, both for my wife and reassurance and confidence for me.

My dad has been at Dukes court now for 18 months and I couldn't wish for him to be in a better home. The staff are all amazing and the care is outstanding. They have an amazing well being team who provide a range of activities for the residents and dad is so happy and settled and they all meet his needs
so well. The manager is amazing very approachable and will support me as well which is a big help. The food is lovely and such a great range and the residents have a choice which is good. The home is kept so clean and tidy and I can't praise them enough for all they do for dad. Dads room is more like a hotel than a room and makes it very home from home which is brilliant. I know dad is safe and well cared for and I couldn't ask for any more.

The staff/carers' experience and competency is quite varied. There are some very good staff in the building but also some who seem under-trained or in some cases ill-suited for the role. Frustratingly if I ask a carer for something that isn't immediate I am told that they will report back or find the
right member of staff but almost without exception, nothing happens and I have to chase. The most recent example - I asked six times over the course of 3 days for my power chair to be charged, which I'm no longer permitted to do myself.

Reply from Leander Pyke, Home manager at Avery Park Care Home - Avery Healthcare

Thank you for the review. It's always great to see these from residents who are at the heart of the home. Unfortunately, the issue raised with regards to the charging of chairs is unavoidable due to fire regulations, but a resolve and agreement has been met. Please do continue to come and see me should you have any further questions.
