We found Woodleigh in our darkest hour, the manager saw beyond the complications and difficulties we faced and embraced us, not just my husband, all of us including the four legged members of my husband's life. Woodleigh is a place of great care, laughter, acceptance and love.
Those who staff this
home, make it just that....a home, they see beyond the condition and find the person.
Lead by kind and, I'm my opinion, inspirational management, the nursing proved up to date but with old values, keeping the resident in the centre of care, support staff work hard but never at the expense of the residents, so kind.
The food is lovely and never too much trouble, the laundry cared for the residents clothes carefully and the home is kept clean and fresh....then there is the star of Woodleigh..Oscar the cat who does his rounds bringing smiles to all.
Is Woodleigh perfect..thank goodness no!...homes are just that....a home.
Thank you to all, for all you did.

My mum was a resident at Baily House Care Home for five years. During that time, she was treated with the utmost dignity and the carers loved her as their own. They go above and beyond to ensure the residents in their care are happy and well cared for. My mum was always encouraged to be independent
but nothing was ever too much trouble. There is a range of activities daily to keep them entertained and stimulated. The management team are very approachable and any problems are sorted out quickly. I can't thank them all enough for their love and support when it was most needed. The home is a happy place and always very welcoming, My mum was always very happy at Baily which was a great comfort to us.

My mother spent the last two years of her life at Baily House Care Home. She was in her 90s and suffering from dementia. She was extremely well looked after and was content and very comfortable enjoying both the company of new friends, the food and the regular activities. The staff were excellent, treating
her with kindness and compassion. I would like to thank all the staff at Baily House for looking after her during the last two years and giving the rest of her family peace of mind that she was safe and happy.

Disappointed with the care of my husband during 2 weeks of October 2024. I had high expectations following initial meeting with staff but it didn't follow through. During his time there, he was shaved once, received no haircut despite being there for 3 hairdresser visits and lost most of his personal
possessions, including: dressing gown, slipper, toilet bag, shower gel, toothbrush, toothpaste, sponge, two and a half sets of pyjamas, 3 jumpers, 2 shirts and 2 pair of jeans - these are still missing. The tv and shower didn't work and there was little personal care. There was a complete lack of communication and quite frankly I expected better. The reviews I read were really good, so a lot of people are happy and I know my expectations are high but I think that's what we should have with people we love and it's important to trust those looking after them and for the record,I met 3 staff members during the fortnight who did care and for that I'm so grateful. Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I am disappointed to read that your experience of Baily House was not what we as a home pride ourselves in providing to those within our care. We would always encourage and welcome this feedback at the time issues occur, this allows us as a management team to address any concerns and attempt to rectify promptly. I have checked with our housekeeping team who unfortunately were unaware that these items were missing. I have provided them with the list of items and asked them to look for any unlabeled items that may be your husbands and make contact with you to hopefully get these returned. I have checked our maintenance log and can see that the shower was found to be faulty and the tv remote had gone missing on the 5/11/24 and I was pleased to see that these issues were both rectified on the same day. Please accept my apologies and I hope that you will consider us again in the future should your husband require any further respite care

Woodleigh Care Home

from Linda D (Daughter of Resident) published on 21 November 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Dad passed at Woodleigh on 10/10/24, 10 months after expected. Dad was fast-tracked by the NHS with mixed dementia and repeated aspirations and so we had to choose a final home for the most independent of men. For us Woodleigh was an obvious fit, an inspired choice. Dad quickly accepted Woodleigh as
his home and residents and staff as family and friends. My dad was a demanding man and knew a swear word or two, if he didn't get his way. At his best and worst, everyone was considerate and respectful of Dad, and even enjoyed banter with him. The wonderful chefs restored Dad's appetite and extended his life. And on the night he passed. He had a carer with him talking to him about things they'd previously discussed, when he could answer. It was touchingly beautiful to see the relationship staff built with Dad. The best decision for Dad was Woodleigh and I'm sure my dad would agree. We can't thank and appreciate all the staff enough for those extra months we had with Dad.

We like Baily House because the atmosphere is good, the carers are friendly and patient. It smells nice, the food is good and the residents seem at ease. The rooms are nice and clean and the corridors are long and spacious so residents who are mobile can have a walk around.

Woodleigh Care Home

from T P (Son of Resident) published on 5 June 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

My mother was a long-term resident at Woodleigh, spanning over nine years by the time of her death. This included the very difficult period during the COVID-19 pandemic. Whilst she struggled to settle initially and took time to build new friendships, as soon as she knew which other residents and staff
she felt she could trust, then she became an active resident and made many friends. The staff treated her well, knew her needs and respected them. Sadly, time caught up with her eventually and she required increased levels of care. The staff treated her with dignity and were always available when family members needed them. The change of ownership latterly appeared to change the persona of the home, with a much more business-like approach adopted. Although I appreciate that this was also a more difficult time for the home financially, due to their increased costs, fees did latterly feel so much higher though.

My dad has been in Baily House for the last 3 years. He is very settled and happy. The staff are very caring and thoughtful of residents' needs. I cannot thank the management and staff at Woodleigh Christian Care Home enough. My sister went in on palliative/end-of-life care and her needs are complex. They manage her needs excellently and the care and compassion they show are amazing. They're like a family and they make friends and family feel
a part of it too. Their door is always open to talk, help and support family too, nothing is too much trouble. Their care, friendliness, support, understanding and patience are second to none.
My sister is happier and more settled than she was in her own home and for us as her family gives us total peace of mind that she is safe and very well cared for. I was also amazed at the activities they do for the residents and everyone joins in, including celebrating birthdays, with beautiful birthday cakes and making it special for them. The food is amazing! I would not hesitate to recommend Woodleigh to anyone. I am eternally grateful for what they have done and continue to do every day.

My sister has very complex palliative care needs which the staff at Woodleigh manage brilliantly. To know that she is safe and well cared for is such a relief to our family. Visiting Woodleigh is always a nice experience as everyone is so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The staff always make
time if we need to talk and give us support if we need it. My sister is so much more settled and comfortable as she feels safer at Woodleigh than she did at home. Her appetite is much better as the food is good, especially the puddings! All in all it is an amazing home and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

My mother was a resident at Woodleigh for just short of four years. In 2020 we were told by the hospital that she was approaching end of life. On the many occasions when she was really poorly, the love and care she received by all the staff at Woodleigh gave us as a family a lot more time with her!
Also I would like to say myself and my sister were always made very welcome at the home, we were always listened to on any issues of concern and any problem however small was addressed. On the day of my mother's passing, the staff were amazing which made it so much easier for us to deal with our grief. I take this last opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you to each and every member of staff.

My sister is undergoing End-Of-Life care and is physically very incapacitated. She has complex physical, mental and emotional needs. Prior to arrival at Woodleigh Care Home my sister and her immediate family had reached a crisis point due to the intensity of my sister's symptoms and the extreme difficulty
in providing 24-hour care. The family cares deeply for my sister and has been dedicated to her support but the situation was unrelenting and unmanageable. From the moment my sister arrived at Woodleigh both she and my family have been made hugely welcome. It has been obvious that the management and staff fully understand all aspects of my sister's needs and those of her family. She has received the highest standards of care medically, physically and emotionally. She has a quality of life much higher than she could experience outside the home. We are supremely grateful to everyone at Woodleigh for their wonderfully dedicated, human and skilful approach to looking after my sister.

Woodleigh Care Home

from K S (Son of Resident) published on 15 April 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5

My parent has been at Woodleigh for 3 years and despite regular contact with the home regarding issues things have really not improved overall or consistently. As relatives, we've received multiple distressed calls. My parent resorts to telephoning the home when the care bell is not answered. At times
that number is not answered. The fees at £1550 a week now, up 13% this year and up twice last year, for residential care, are astronomical. The facilities are not impressive and are not in good order. On a recent visit, the garden was a shambles - a shame as it could be a great asset but in 3 years I have never seen it being well used other than by staff who are usually smoking in a shelter there at some point in any visit I make with my parent to the garden. Last visit their shelter was the only spot where access was not hampered by neglected cut branches and windfall debris. I wheeled my parent onto the moss lawn and we looked wistfully around at the mess in the drifting cigarette smoke.

Reply from Ashley Baird, Home Manager at Woodleigh Care Home

Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that your experience of Woodleigh has not always been an overall positive one. As you are aware I have responded to your recent concerns regarding the garden, our maintenance manager has cleared and jet-washed the path. We have several activities planned in the garden when the weather permits, and we hope that you and your relative will join us for these.

We had a difficult hospital experience but from the moment the assessment team came to visit at the hospital we as a family began to feel reassured things were going to get better for our mum.
The day before Mum moved in, we had been welcomed to pop in to get her room ready, the staff couldn't have
been more helpful.
When Mum moved in, she was welcomed by staff and other residents.
Mum engaged almost from the start of her stay, taking part in the activities. Both she and the family were very happy.
The staff were chatty and encouraging, helpful and understanding. All very much appreciated, thank you so much.

From the moment we arrived, the staff were amazing. They came to the car with a wheelchair to help bring my relative in for emergency respite. Once we were told where she would be and shown to the room all the staff made her very welcome and introduced themselves. They brought a hot drink and biscuits
and put her at ease straight away in what was an alien environment. The home is spotlessly clean rooms are beautiful and everything there is to make the transition from home a little less scary. The improvement in her in a few days is down to the excellent care provided.

Over a week ago a family member of mine came to Baily House, and I have been nothing but impressed since. From the start the service has been amazing. The managers were rapid in admitting her, they were very professional and understood our reasons for her to come into the home. The room was beautiful
and well presented, the home is always clean and smells beautiful. The carers do wonders with her, she hadn't been eating, socialising or walking now she's doing it all. I'm so glad we moved her here and so nice to see her being back to herself. All the teams deserve recognition for how outstanding the home and the service is. Well done and a massive thank you to you all.
