My partner arrived at Amber Wood one month ago, and right from the start, all of the staff were friendly and approachable. I visit him daily and have seen how good the staff are with not only with him but with all of the residents. I think we all worry about how well the staff treat our loved ones,
and having seen for myself daily for a month now, not once have I had any concerns. In my opinion, it is clean, professional and very well run whilst still maintaining a relaxed atmosphere.

Thank you for your feedback, Carol; it's so nice to hear that the dedication of the team has provided you with a little peace of mind. We will be sure to pass on your kind words to the team!

My dad arrived at Bowbrook in July 2023, and already, the change in him is overwhelming. He is so much more alert and happy. He is loving having access to a garden and is joining in with all of the activities. The staff are fantastic as they all have so many skills; their dementia training is also excellent,
so they really know how to get the very best out of every resident and enhance their lives. My dad chats away to everyone and is so much more relaxed in himself.
The building is beautiful and so clean everywhere, it also has beautiful gardens. I cannot recommend Bowbrook highly enough for anyone who has a loved one in need of such expertise.

As a qualified nurse, I always worried about my mum going into care but from the day my mum went to Amber Wood Care Home to the day he passed away, we, as a family, had nothing to worry about. The staff on Bertley and the management team treat Mum as an individual with care and love throughout her stay.
I can't thank them enough, their care and dedication were exceptional. I would recommend Amber Wood to any family who are in the same position as we were.

Mum loves being here. She has made lots of friends and the staff are great with her. All possible precautions are taken with regard to covid outbreaks. Mum enjoys the activities they have and the food is nice.

Much more enjoyable now that relatives can come into Amber Wood and visit residents in their day-to-day accommodation. The Covid situation, although understandable, has been hard for relatives. My husband's birthday was a happy occasion. Not sure how much he remembers now about a Birthday, but it was
lovely for him, and thank you to the staff for making it a special day.

When I could see my Uncle after a long time and actually visit the home and meet the staff, I was very pleased and satisfied that my uncle was receiving a really good level of care. The staff were accommodating and went out of their way to make the visit a great experience. My Uncle was relaxed and
happy that the visit could go ahead as it was a little later than planned. We had our visit in the lovely garden to the back of the home (Covid restrictions) which I found much nicer than a room. The staff provided a good quality of care to all the residents that I had sight of and good communication skills witnessed on my visit. The home was very clean with a nice aroma. Good personal facilities for visitors and most of all a good welcome. Good atmosphere, bright, good facilities to enable the residents to look back and remember (reminiscing).

Our mother arrived at Bowbrook having to be transferred by hoist and otherwise bedridden following a fall at home and hospitalisation. Three months later she was able to walk to a car and return home to independent living. This has been our first experience of a care home and cannot praise the care
and attention of the staff highly enough. We will be forever grateful for their expertise and guidance in helping mum achieve her goal.

Reply from Amanda Jelbert, Registered Manager at Bowbrook

Thank you so much for your kind words, Paul. We have loved having your mother here and we are so pleased she has been able to regain some independence with our support. I will pass your comments on to the staff team. Thanks again and best wishes, Amanda

My wife moved into Bowbrook shortly after it opened in July 2021. She has now been in residence for 5 weeks and this has allowed my family and I to form a good assessment of standards. Firstly, being a newly built care home the accommodation and facilities are excellent. Secondly, and equally important,
the level of care has been very good. All staff are professional, attentive, supportive and friendly which has enabled my wife to make the sometimes difficult transition to full-time care as smooth and stress-free as possible. Food is good and she looks forward to her meals and daytime activities. The family are very pleased with our choice of Bowbrook and have no hesitation in recommending it.

My Mother has had Parkinson's disease and Lewes Body dementia for the last 11 years and over the last 3 years, we have seen as a family a deterioration that has left my Father struggling to cope with her care needs. We have used several residential homes in the area for respite breaks and so I am writing
this review from experience and comparison. Bowbrook is a brand new care home and my Mother is currently one of five residents. She has settled in extremely well. I have been impressed with the care team as a whole and they have gotten to know my Mother in a relatively short space of time (3 weeks), nothing is too much trouble for them. The food is excellent. There are activities in the afternoon that my Mother is engaging in. A hairdresser is now on board and they are about to start stocking up the on-site shop. My Mother has formed friendships with the other residents. We can book by appointment and a family member has visited each day. I would recommend.

Amber Wood

My mum arrived at Amber Wood following hospitalization because she had fallen and broken her hip. Prior to this, she had been living semi-independently (with the help of family and carers) in her own home. Unfortunately, it was one fall too many and following the hip repair the very difficult decision
was made to have her assessed for residential care; hence her arrival at Amber Wood. On arrival, my worries were dissolved. We were greeted by two exceptionally nice carers who very compassionately settled Mum in. Within an hour of arrival, she was sitting in the dining area eating lunch with other residents. Mum's room is lovely and spacious and she is already forming friendships with both staff and fellow guests. The care and warmth of the staff is second to none. There is an open visiting policy and nothing is too much trouble. The carers quickly relate well not only to the residents but also importantly to the relatives. Thank you so much to all at Amber Wood.

I would highly recommend this care home, the staff go above and beyond to make their residents feel warm, safe and well looked after. This was to the extent that neither of my parents wanted to return home after the respite. It was my Mother's Birthday during their stay here, she was made to feel very
special, Birthday posters were displayed around the home and all staff had bought her a cake and flowers.
Rooms are large and airy with beautiful views and en-suits. The gardens were large and accessible, with fruit and vegetables that residents could pick and eat.
