My Dad has been a resident at Rutland Manor Nursing Home for over 2 years and after him being in a couple of care homes prior it is lovely to have him in such a caring environment, where the staff are all respectful, caring and helpful not only to Dads needs but to seeing Mum and family are fully involved
where we can be. Must acknowledge the cooks too who make the most delicious meals and for inviting us to stay to have a meal with Dad. Thank you to everyone at Rutland for doing what you do so brilliantly.

My father has been a resident for just over 12 months. We cannot fault the care home in any way.
It's always a pleasure to visit, all the staff are always welcoming. The care and respect they show my father means a lot to me and my family.
A special thank you goes to the manager and two members of
staff, in particular.

My dad is a resident of Rutland Manor Ilkeston. We visit him regularly and he's happy and well cared for.
The staff are attentive and kind and always helpful. We have meals with Dad sometimes which is lovely.
Plenty of parking in the on-site car park if you're in the car.

Our mum has now been under the care of Rutland Manor Nursing Home for just over one year. During this time, she has consistently received excellent care. The staff always show compassion and know when just a simple hug is the right thing to do. The food and activities provided are excellent with plenty
of variety to keep the residents engaged. We appreciate Mum is receiving the best long-term care.

I'd just like to say what a wonderful place Rutland Manor is. My mum has been a resident there for about 6 months and the care she gets is second to none. All the staff are so helpful, especially the manager, she goes that extra mile to help everyone. My mum couldn’t settle at other places she’s been
in, but at Rutland Manor she really is comfortable.
Thank you to all the staff.
Kind regards.

The Woodlands

from Wendy R (Daughter of Resident) published on 31 January 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mother was moved to The Woodlands recently after a bad experience at another care home, where they didn't give her the right kind of care she needed. She ended up having a fall and was returned to hospital. After this, she was put on end-of-life and moved to Woodlands.
This home is the complete
opposite of the other home. All the staff were friendly, polite and nothing was too much trouble for us or my mum.
I am a manager myself and couldn't find fault with any of the service given to my mum. The decoration may look tired and could do with refreshing but it was very clean and tidy everywhere. And yes, they may have had days where they may have been short-staffed but this did not reflect on the service they gave.
My mum has recently passed away. On the night she did, she was treated with respect and dignity, as she always was.
So I can only thank all the staff for the care she received, even though it was just for a short while.
So again, thank you.

My mum has been cared for at Rutland Manor for nearly 12 months. They make every effort to understand her complex needs. They have been very focused on ensuring medication is taken in my mum's best interests. They are kind and caring and try very hard to meet the diverse range of challenging needs within

My mother was admitted to The Woodlands for end-of-life care after a bad fall at another home. The quality of care that she received was exceptional! I can not thank everyone that works there enough for there compassion and help with my mum, they truly are wonderful.
Nothing is too much trouble for
them, even I was taken care of when I visited.
Mum passed away and they were there to make sure everything was just right for her and after, they gave me a sympathy card with a pack of forget me not seeds to plant in her memory, so thoughtful.

The Woodlands

from Louise S (Daughter of Resident) published on 10 January 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5

My father was in Woodlands Care Home from July 2023 and during that time deteriorated rapidly. He had a bed sore which was not treated - he was left for long periods of time in a chair rather than being regularly moved. He lost 10% of his body weight and refused to eat food which was often given to
him uncut which was required due to his Parkinsons and a broken wrist. We had meetings arranged with external nurses for which the Woodland's nursing staff didn't attend or couldn't use the laptop to obtain his notes.
We moved our father to an alternative care home at the end of November - this new home have arranged physiotherapy which was cancelled at Woodlands. He is now eating more and the food is cut up for him without having to request it. More importantly, they are actively treating his bedsore and moving him every 2 hours which wasn't happening at Woodlands.

Reply from Jacki Perry, Operations Manager at The Woodlands

Thank you for your review although we are disappointed to read your further concerns. I will finalise my investigation and forward the findings. I can confirm all requested information was sent to the appropriate authorities at the time of request. We have now just received a further request and will action this as soon as possible.
As before, we are sorry not to have met your expectations during your father’s short stay for assessment purposes, and we are pleased you found a suitable placement for him and all is well.

from Joy D (Daughter of Resident) published on 3 January 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

The staff at Woodlands are exceptional. They are extremely welcoming and supportive, open to questions and willing to go the extra mile to help. Sometimes it really feels homely rather than institutional. Despite having dementia my mother is very sociable and she relishes the activities which the co-ordinations
put on every day. I have even heard her laugh and giggle whilst doing activities - something I thought I would never hear again. She was also taken on a visit to the garden centre, again this was something I never thought I would see again.
The home isn’t perfect. What home is? Sometimes it seems short-staffed. But I would never doubt the care and support that the staff offer. I am really glad that my mum is being looked after in Woodlands and I enjoy visiting her there.

Reply from Jacki Perry, Operations Manager at The Woodlands

Thank you for such a lovely review. I will pass your thoughts on to the team who will be thrilled. It means a lot to know we are appreciated and even more, when we get a smile or laughter from residents and we know people are happy and we can help them to live life as full as possible. This can be a difficult time for families and the staff, so thank you for taking the time to write your review.
Best wishes, Jacki.

Pinxton Manor

from Lisa S (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 19 December 2023
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My gran was a resident there for 2 years until she passed in January 2022, and in that time all the staff showed such love and care for her.
I was extremely apprehensive about moving Gran into a care home, but all my concerns were soon forgotten due to the nature in which every single staff member
looked after her and made sure her best interests were advocated for.
The staff went above and beyond and as a family, we honestly can't convey how much this meant to us and gran.
The care is person-centred and focused on activities she enjoyed doing. Gran had advanced dementia and their training in this area really shone through.
Even after her passing, as a family, we have always been made to feel welcome at the Pinxton Manor and still visit frequently for the fayres and events.
The staff at Pinxton Manor truly are a credit to the caring profession.
Many thanks.

My dad has been at Haddon House for 5 months, at first it took me some time to accept that we could not care for him. I never wanted him to go into a nursing home but it became too much for us.
All the staff treat my dad like I would treat him which gives me comfort, that he’s cared for and happy.
The
staff are all amazing, they work so hard to make sure all the residents are looked after, the play staff keep them positive.
The only negative feedback is they could do with more patient toilets.

The Woodlands

from T B (Son of Resident) published on 8 December 2023
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5

During my father's time in Woodlands, he gradually deteriorated, he suffered from several UTIs, lost a significant amount of weight and had several pressure sores. When questioned about his health the nurses in charge were either oblivious to his current condition or defensive with their response.
Generally
the care staff have been helpful and considerate, although they had a tendency to sugarcoat their opinion of how well Dad was doing.
When visiting, we would often find him in clothes that were not his own and we have been asked on several occasions if we can identify items of clothing, as they were not sure to whom they belonged.
Our interaction with the care manager has been at best confrontational; she is aggressive, difficult and we believe she has been actively working against us in our attempt to get funding for Dad’s care.
The home itself is cold, poorly decorated and suffers from a very depressing atmosphere. The residents are not encouraged to have any form of normal life.

Reply from Jacki Perry, Operations Manager at The Woodlands

We are shocked and saddened to hear of your experience. Woodlands strives to provide an excellent service and has always been proud of its nursing and management teams, who have worked at the home for many years. We understand the complexity of funding and I can only apologise if you weren’t sufficiently informed, or decisions were taken which you don’t feel were in your relative’s best interest. However, this was an NHS decision and not influenced by the care home.
We are also sorry you didn’t find the home comfortable or run efficiently.
I apologise your father’s clothes were not known to our laundry staff and you were asked to identify them. I’m sure you appreciate this is a mammoth task, which is why we request families to name all items brought into the home. I would also like to reassure all residents and their families that we are continuing to upgrade Woodlands and recognise the need to meet everyone’s preferences. We are sorry not to have met your expectations.

from Daryl S (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 28 November 2023

My grandad moved here from another home in October after some bad experiences. The difference in the two homes is incredible. All the staff are friendly and treat the residents with respect and dignity. Residents are allowed to wander/crawl/move around their unit as they want. It's very secure, so no
chance of them escaping! They're encouraged to feed themselves/give themselves a drink if possible (spillages can easily be cleaned). They're also not prevented from using the toilet like I've seen elsewhere. The activities coordinators are amazing - making an effort with every single resident and tailoring activities as much as they can.
The home is clean and residents are well looked after.
Sadly my grandad wasn't there long, but the staff were brilliant with him and us whilst he was on end of life, making a real effort to keep him comfortable.
Despite only having a month's experience with this home, I'd recommend Haddon House without hesitation.

Reply from Sarah Richardson, Registered Manager at Haddon House

Pinxton Manor

from Brian K (Husband of Resident) published on 5 October 2023
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My wife moved into Pinxton Manor on 22 September 2022 with dementia. Her needs were urgent; she was about to be moved into a home I was not sure about the next day. Staff at Pinxton rang me to say they had a place in response to a previous enquiry. A nurse came out to asses her the next day! and she
moved into Pinxton on 22 September. It was the best move I ever made! All the staff were so friendly and helpful. Everyone speaks to you when you visit. The care is first class, nothing is impossible and nothing is too much trouble. My wife loved it and would say: "Aren't they kind here' and 'Isn't it lovely here'. Lots of activities singing, games coffee mornings for visitors; time outside in the garden; pets.
She passed away on 22 July 2023. Her deterioration was quite sudden and dramatic. The staff were very supportive of me and my family during that awful time. Especially the nursing staff.
When I returned there to visit today and say thanks they were very sympathetic and caring.
Thank you Pinxton Manor.

Thank you to everyone involved in this wonderful care home. All of the staff are so kind and considerate towards the residents and families. My 93-year-old mother-in-law spent the last 12 weeks of her life here. She was made to feel welcome, safe and secure, which, as her family, was most important.
The rooms are comfy and clean, the food excellent, and nothing is too much trouble. The end of her life was calm, peaceful and dignified. All we could have wanted. Thank you.

The staff at Woodlands go above and beyond to look after all their residents including my mother. This is difficult in some cases as all the residents have challenges with their health. The staff treat us like family as well, they keep us informed of every aspect of Mum's care. We as a family cannot
praise all of their hard work and caring enough for both Mum and us as a family at this difficult time.
