When mom was admitted to Norley following a fall causing a broken hip, she was welcomed far more than her previous home. She was happier and looked after with dignity and care. Her food Was well cooked and presented and the entertainment was fabulous. All special days and occasions were celebrated.
When Mum passed I became a volunteer to pay back the love and respect given to her.

My Mum has been a resident at Norley Hall Care Home since June 2024, and from the very beginning, she was welcomed into a caring and supportive community. The level of one-to-one care and attention she has received is truly second to none.
There is always a variety of entertainment and social activities
on offer, keeping her engaged and mentally stimulated. This has made such a difference to her overall well-being. The quality of food is also excellent, with a varied menu that has undoubtedly contributed to her improvement.
The staff are always happy, friendly, and incredibly helpful - nothing is ever too much trouble. In fact, my mum has often said she wishes she had moved here years ago, as she wouldn't choose to live anywhere else.
I am eternally grateful to all the staff for the kindness, and support they continue to provide. Their dedication brings immense peace of mind, knowing my Mum is in the best possible hands.
Thank you, Norley Hall team, for everything you do!

Norley Hall Care Home

from Melissa S (Daughter of Resident) published on 25 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

My mother is happy and settled in the Care Home.
She is safe and her care needs are met.
The staff are welcoming to myself and my Husband and they seem to genuinely care about the residents in their charge.
The activity schedule is robust and there always seem to be something going on to keep the
residents stimulated.
We are thankful for the care provided and the Norley Hall team.
Our criticism would be the price point of the 'top up' fees. It hangs over our heads like a big black cloud, knowing it is subject to review and yearly rises. This has a great impact on us as we have 2 parents residing there.

Reply from Kathryn Rimmer, Registered Manager at Norley Hall Care Home

Thank you so much for your kind words and for recognising the dedication of our team. It's truly heart-warming to hear that your mother is happy, settled, and receiving the care and support she deserves. Ensuring our residents are engaged and stimulated through our robust activity schedule is something we take great pride in. We understand your concerns regarding the third-party top-up fees. As a predominantly private care home, we strive to maintain the highest standards of care, ensuring our residents enjoy a comfortable, safe, and enriching environment. Unfortunately, due to the current challenges in social care funding, there remains a significant shortfall in the contributions we receive. The top-up fees help us bridge this gap, allowing us to retain our dedicated, experienced staff and continue offering the quality of care that our residents and families expect and deserve. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you'd like to discuss this matter in more detail. Thank you.

Our friend, a window and an only child with no children or siblings, sadly developed Alzheimer's disease. She asked me to be her support and power of attorney along with her cousin and her son who live in Durham. She was asked but didn't wish to move to Durham. I was asked to choose a home in Wigan.
Worthington Lake was my choice and the family agreed. She had lived there nearly four years. The management were amazing and she had the best life possible with her new 'family'. A beautiful and amazing home.

The carers in Lakeside were excellent and treated the residents with love and respect, understanding individual concerns and needs. They worked together as a team, ready to help each other when double help was needed with hoists, rearranging (patients) residents and keeping them comfortable and responsive
to everyday activities.

I regularly visit a resident here, and each time I have been I have found Worthington Lake care home to feel warm and welcoming. It doesn't have the feel of a typical care home it feels more like a home away from home or a 5* hotel. The meals are homemade each day and include lots of variety. The staff
are friendly and warm and are happy and smiling which is really nice to see. Residents are smartly dressed and the home itself is very clean. I was impressed by the activity schedule and the number of trips out for residents in their own minibus. I would highly recommend this care home.

Lakeside Nursing Home is a well run home. The team go above and beyond and show unwavering commitment to the residents and the genuine care they show in every interaction. The residents look really happy, they do some kind of activity throughout the week, also they take the residents out i.e.: meals,
theatre etc.
I would like to give a big thank you for everything you do.
P.S.: spotless clean, food hygiene 5*, a very homely fell and always welcoming.

Mum moved into Lavender Hills Care Home in October 2023. The period leading up to her move was extremely stressful for my wife and I and like many, I was concerned as to whether I was doing the right thing.
Being able to work with the team to prepare mum's room in advance went a long way to easing
my worries.
Arriving at Lavender Hills with mum was a revelation, she was welcomed like a long lost friend and within minutes, she was settled.
Over the next twelve months we have seen mum recover some of her spark, there have been bumps along the road and times when she hasn't been right, but the staff have been brilliant and have always turned things around.
I do believe the fact the entire staff buy into the Lavender Hills approach, makes a massive difference. The weekly events and activities are marvelous but it is the fact that each resident is cared for and treated as an individual that makes such a difference.
Thank you for making mum happy in the moment and removing the stress from me.
