My Sister and I have nothing but praise for the Staff of Redwell Hills Care Home.
They are always cheerful and willing to help with any problems we may have had.
My Mother has been a resident since July 2024 and they made her feel welcome from day one and continue to look after her really well.
She
is 102 (103 in March) and is very content with everything that the staff do for her.

Hollie Hill Care Home

from N S (Wife of Resident) published on 26 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

Myself and my husband recently came to Hollie Hill Care Home. Only negative comment I would make is that there aren't enough permanent caring staff, too many temporary staff, many who did not know the residents. I think an increase is a must to retain staff, I would recommend Hollie Hill to friends
etc.

Reply from Claire Cole, Marketing Assistant at Hollie Hill Care Home

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience with Hollie Hill. We're so glad to know that you would recommend to friends and that the majority of your experience has been positive. We recognise consistency of care staff supports the best care and positive outcome for our residents. We are working towards eliminating agency care staff where possible, and over the last 3 months we have seen a reduction of 50% of use of agency carers. Agency care staff have been essential in the current national crisis affecting retention in health and social care and want our relatives friends and families to know that every effort is made to ensure agency staff receive an agency induction delivered by the care team who know our residents the best as well as making sure that agency staff in the main work / buddy with an existing, core member of the Hollie Hill team. Thank you for your time, and have a lovely day.

Visited a friend I had not seen in a while, and it was very refreshing to see the progress they had made since transferring to the home. Can clearly see they are very well cared for, nothing is too much to ask for staff are very accommodating and friendly. The food looked delicious, management were
very approachable and took the time to listen.

from Deborah M (Sister of Resident) published on 30 January 2025

My brother moved into the care home in December 2024. I was very anxious about the move as this was very different from what my brother was used to. I need not have worried, the care is excellent and the staff go above and beyond to ensure that every resident is happy and well cared for. There are different
social events and my brother has even been baking with the staff. I could not have imagined that anything like this would be possible and am delighted. The manager always greets you with a smile and will listen and answer any questions you might have. The staff engages with the residents very well and have already come to know my brother's likes and dislikes. He has settled well and now calls Redwell Hills his home. I will be eternally grateful to everyone who has made this move a good experience for my brother and myself. Thank you.

My mother recently stayed at Abigail Lodge Care Home after a slip in the bedroom. She was very delicate and weary after the slip and was welcomed at Abigail for six weeks of respite by friendly staff who made her very comfortable. They allowed us to bring in her own chair and TV to make to room more
homely. As she has special dietary needs the staff at Abigail made every effort with her diet. I always found every staff member courteous to her and enjoyed spending time with her. I would highly recommend this care home.

Mam's first Christmas at Abigail Lodge Care Home and what a lovely time she's had. The staff have certainly made her and my Christmas special. It's not easy having loved ones away from the family celebrations but it's been made a lot less heartbreaking for the family with the staff at Abigail and the
joy they give. Many thanks to everyone involved in Mam's care.

I find Abigail Lodge Care Home great, the staff are wonderful, very polite and always there when you need them and always on time with medication. I really enjoyed the food that I received every day and there is always plenty of choice. The activities team always have a great selection of entertainment
including fairs and outside entertainment, movie days and Christmas parties. They always make sure they keep residents up to date with what is going on. Laundry is fantastic, clothes are always washed, ironed and put away in the wardrobe. Overall can't fault anything within Abigail Lodge. Really enjoyed my short time here and would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

My dad went to Abigail Lodge Care Home for end-of-life care, he was only in residence for less than a week. The staff treated my dd with sensitivity, dignity and care, he and I were looked in on repeatedly to check on my dad and any needs we may have had. I could see as my dad began to deteriorate it
affected the staff as it did me. When my dad passed the staff were there for me, I couldn't have asked for any more than what they did. Thank you to all at Abigail Lodge.

Abigail Lodge Care Home

Mum has been a resident at Abigail Lodge for almost 2 years and I have been very happy with all aspects of her care. The most important part of any care home is the staff and the staff at Abigail Lodge are excellent - professional, friendly, welcoming and always helpful. My mother is always treated
with respect and dignity and the care assistants do a brilliant job in a very demanding and stressful environment. Abigail Lodge is usually full of chatter and laughter and Mum has always appreciated the time that the staff have taken to chat to her. The kitchen staff do a tremendous job and the food is well presented and looks really tasty. The Activities staff also do a brilliant job and there is always something going on to try and occupy/entertain the residents. The staff are always ready to answer any questions and are straight on the telephone if there are any issues with Mum. Abigail Lodge is not a modern building and would benefit from a little refurbishment but it is the staff and the level of care which are most important!

Main concern - meals and lack of variety. Considering my husband is vegetarian he very rarely is given vegetables. Not given a balanced healthy diet.
Does not use facilities as bedbound so can't comment/rate this. Also, the same for activities. Not being placed in a chair on a daily basis and also
not being showered on a regular basis. My husband has Alzheimer's and cancer and is waiting for his hearing aids and on occasions, care staff have snapped at him which has upset my husband and family.

Reply from Hannah Burke, Marketing Executive at Abigail Lodge Care Home

Thank you for your comments. We appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback and letting us know how we are doing. All of our staff are committed to providing the best possible care for our residents and we are disappointed to hear that you feel this has not been the case. Our menus are created with input from our residents, reflecting their likes and dislikes. We use food passports to capture any specific dietary requirements or preferences. In addition to our twice-yearly surveys, we hold regular meetings with residents where they can raise concerns or share feedback on the menus with our chef. We take all comments seriously and would welcome you to contact the home manager to discuss your concerns in more detail. Thank you.

My mam is in this home and has got the same care assistants who look after her, they do an excellent job. She laughs and smiles with them, they make her feel at home. Activities are amazing, the women who do this are amazing, they get her singing and doing things, l try to join in as much as l can.

I have found the care for my mum outstanding. She is always treated with respect and all the staff are lovely. She enjoys joining in with activities and socialising with other residents. The home has also recently been refurbished which gives it a clean environment. I would definitely recommend to others.
