Hi I just want to say how welcome Haighfield made Mum and I feel, the staff are caring, kind and friendly.
It's a great comfort to me knowing when I leave Mum in the home she is so well looked after.
They have lots of activities going on in the lounge, unfortunately my Mums not been up to that but it's
great that they try and motivate and stimulate the residents.

Reply from Naveed Hussain, Owner at Haighfield Nursing Home

Amazing, it was never going to be easy putting a parent into permanent care, however the staff at the Willows are fantastic they are caring and compassionate. The manager always has time for you and will answer any questions or queries. The home itself has a lovely atmosphere and my Dad is very settled.
The food is freshly made on the premises and always a good choice, all the staff are patient and kind not just to the residents but to us too, it has taken a big weight off the family knowing he is well looked after. The ladies in the laundry are fab they always make sure everything is clean and returned to the correct resident. Thank you to everyone

My stay at the Beeches was made great by the Manager & her girls. All gave me friendly helpful service, well above the call of duty. The only things which could be improved were the quality of the beds & the food, which was mostly good, but improvements were possible. I enjoyed the breakfasts & lunches,
while the evening meals often consisted of sandwiches made with white bread (no taste or nourishment), not cooked meals. Sometimes soup was served not hot but luke warm, - less than appetising. More home cooking & less factory food & white bread would be a big improvement.
Meals could be made much more enjoyable if wine and/or beer were on the menu. Would this be legal?

Reply from Naveed Hussain, Owner at Beeches Care Home

Dear Simon,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are so pleased to hear that you felt well looked after by the team. The manager and all the staff truly care about making each resident's stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, so it means a lot to know their efforts made a positive difference for you.We also really appreciate your comments on the beds and food. We always want to improve where we can, so your feedback is very helpful. We will certainly consider your suggestions, especially regarding meal variety and temperature. Regarding your question about wine or beer, we will look into what is possible within the regulations. If you ever have any further thoughts or if there is anything else we can do, please do not hesitate to reach out. Wishing you all the best.

I just want to say how thrilled the family was regarding the level of care and attention afforded to our mother. The staff constantly provided a thoughtful, considerate and homely provision of such care. Residents are involved in activities to ensure meaning to their stay. Extra attention was provided
at birthdays, Easter and Christmas including musical entertainment at these times. I would not therefore hesitate to promote Haighfield Nursing Home for anyone seeking appropriate care for loved ones.

Mum was treated with love, care and compassion throughout her stay at Haighfield from October 2023 onwards. The attention to detail in dressing Mum and dietary needs were second to none.
All staff interacted with Mum encouraging her in activities and had many great chats with her, spending time with
her and other residents. A massive thank you to everyone on all teams at Haighfield.

Mum was treated with such care throughout her stay, which lasted 12 months longer than expected this is purely due to the fabulous care and love given to Mum, everyone showed respect and compassion and so we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. On Mum's recent return from time in the hospital, staff
came outside and greeted and welcomed Mum back home. All staff work very hard and our thanks go out to them.

Staff are always friendly and always assist in getting Mum to sit in a quiet room. Manager is always interactive on our arrival, updating us on how Mum is and where she is. and able to tell us what activities Mum has enjoyed. Always approachable, both friendly and professional. Carers and all other
staff who care for Mum are interactive with Mum and family visiting. They work hard to look after Mum, they are positive, caring and professional. All staff at The Willows work very hard as one big team together to make Mum's life there as comfortable as possible and with dignity.

All seems well. Patients are comfortable and safe. I do not see as many staff around as seems necessary to look after so many.
The lady offering activities does her best to include everyone, though some are reluctant, she uses gentle persuasion to encourage them.

Mum has been at Haighfield for quite a while now. She had been in hospital and was quite ill when she moved in, but she has settled in ok. Given the challenges that the care sector is facing, it is good that the home has managed to retain a core group of staff that Mum knows (and who know her) and so
there is a sense of continuity in her care and support. Staff are attentive and frequently pop in to chat with Mum. They have tried to encourage mum to use the lounge facilities and join in activities, but she has been reluctant to do so. Visiting arrangements are open and flexible, which is welcome, and we are able to have regular chats with the staff to discuss Mum's care when we need to.

My uncle was admitted to hospital from his previous care home and the decision was made to look for an alternative care home that could offer end of life nursing care and I am so pleased that we chose The Beeches Care Home. Whilst there he was treated with all the care and dignity that you would expect
for your loved one. The staff and nurses were easy to approach and constantly kept us up to date with his care needs. Whilst visiting the home we saw that he was clean and looked relaxed and happy, you could also see how the staff loved to interact with all the other residents and I would not hesitate to recommend The Beeches.

My father was a resident at The Beeches Care Home from September 2022 until April 2023 when he passed away peacefully. During his time at the home, the staff treated him with the utmost dignity and the nursing care he received was excellent. The team seemed strong and staff were always friendly and
helpful when we visited. There were lots of activities for residents and the opportunity for family to join in too. My father's room was always clean and there was a real sense that there was an understanding of his complex needs. The appearance of the home is not luxurious and some areas are a little dated but this certainly does not detract from the high standard of care they provide which is the priority here. It is fair to say that there is a project for upgrading and redecorating in process currently. I would not hesitate in recommending the home to friends who may also need these services for their loved ones.

Both my mum and auntie were admitted to The Beeches just as the Covid lockdown was taking hold and so I wasn't really able to get a full picture beforehand of what it was like. Nearly three years on, I'm very pleased with the standard of care offered and I'd have no hesitation in recommending The Beeches.
Unfortunately, my auntie passed away but the end-of-life care she received was exemplary, the staff could not have been more caring. The way that they helped my mum through this difficult period was very much appreciated.
There have been occasional issues arising but what impressed me was the willingness and effort made by the management to address and resolve these quickly. The Beeches has a strong management team along with some very capable staff on the nursing/caring side. They're always prepared to go the extra mile.
In terms of improvements, work is now taking place to refresh the decor etc. which I think was overdue. Steps to recruiting more permanent staff are also welcomed.

Staff were rude and dismissive to various members of the family when visiting and asking any questions regarding care and pain relief. Despite numerous complaints to management and the management company, nothing changed. We were informed on more than one occasion that he was close to the end, at one
stage being told he had stopped breathing and we needed to get there. Upon arrival, he was breathing and asking for drinks, not one member of staff was in sight. My father had been left alone and my niece had to go and find a member of staff, this caused a lot of upset to his wife who is also in poor health. The home is clearly understaffed. There were lots of occasions when there wasn’t a member of staff on any of the floors and you would have to search for a carer or a nurse. Patients would resort to shouting for staff as buzzers were ignored. Other residents' clothes would be in his wardrobe including womenswear. Named items were also lost when sent to the laundry.

Reply from Kerry Ellison, Home Manager at Haighfield Nursing Home

A meeting and one written complaint raised with management was responded to and family member specified they were satisfied with the response and actions.
Management are sorry the family feel this way and aim to provide a high standard of care. We would encourage families to use the company complaints procedure if they feel their verbal complaints with staff during visits have not been addressed appropriately. Then management can address concerns within policies and procedures to be able to respond personally to family members and provide a response that reassures.
