Jah-Jireh (Charity) Homes

My Mum has been in Jah Jireh for just over 3 years.
I have nothing but praise for the home and all the staff.
The home is kept clean and all the meals look delicious - my Mum certainly has no complaints about the food!
My Mum has dementia, is profoundly deaf, and has mobility problems, but she is
always treated with utmost respect and dignity.
All the residents get access to the meetings either in person or on a social media video app.
The staff takes those residents who are able to get out on monthly trips to various places of interest, such as the zoo or Sealife. And the activities manager sometimes will take one of the residents to the shops with her or to the local park.
Overall both my Mum and all our family are extremely happy with this care home.

I have always rated the staff since my mother came to live with you as being kind, attentive, friendly and efficient from managers down to cleaners, but in December they went over and above their remit and in my opinion their speedy response to my mother's medical emergency I believed saved her life,
thank you all keep up the good work.

Jah-Jireh (Charity) Homes

There's no doubt that this care home is operating in less than perfect conditions due to the regime imposed upon them by the authorities, staff shortages and skyrocketing costs. However, every time I visit (every week, if possible), I am touched by the care and compassion the staff show to the residents
and their families. The carers become your friend very quickly and demonstrate great affection for the residents. Yes, there are things that could be improved upon, but the basic hygiene and care requirements are being catered for more than adequately. My mother-in-law is very comfortable and happy in her clean, warm room, with attentive staff and friendly fellow residents. My wife and I feel so reassured that she's in Jah Jireh.

Reply from Ian Murphy, Director at Jah-Jireh (Charity) Homes

Thank you so much for your review and for recognising the challenges we are facing; we really appreciate your kind, reasonable and balanced observations about the home and our hard-working staff.

I am very impressed with the care my mum-in-law is receiving at Jah-Jireh. Occasionally they can’t answer the phone due to being too busy but most times they do and take the time to tell me how my mum-in-law is. She has dementia and they regularly ring me to check about what’s best for her. They have
referred her to specialists when needed and gone above and beyond what I would have expected. They really care for her. My husband and I visited a few weeks ago and she looked so happy. She was so settled and smiling. This was so reassuring. They had provided aids and adaptations and had a good understanding of her needs and care. I’m very happy.

Shocking attitude.
Poor communication.
Unhygienic.
Lack of care for needs/wants.
Management is appalling.
My grandma had a fall and yet no doctor was called? Why?
Dirty bedding?
Other resident's clothing returned alongside my grandma's clothing?
Stale flowers that were left for weeks?
Brand
new towels/flannels not used, so no bathing?

We understand that this must be a really difficult time for you and the family. Please be assured that your concerns will be looked into in adherence to our complaints policy. As a matter of policy and to conform to legislative requirements, it would not be appropriate to respond on a public forum to matters related to individual residents, but we encourage you to follow the direction outlined in our policy, so we can resolve any issues quickly.

My beloved grandma went into Jah-Jireh mid lockdown and sadly went into hospital and passed away just three weeks from staying there. Prior to entering the home, she was in good physical health before deteriorating as soon as she entered the home.
The attitude of the manager for the home was shocking,
lack of regard for families and the patients. A handful of times I called up to see how she was and I was made to feel a nuisance for asking how she was, spoken to terribly. Her phone also was turned off on a number of occasions which is so out of character for my grandma.
I called up to arrange to collect some things for my grandma to take to the hospital, I was told she was ‘fine and had just had dinner with the residents’ - She was in the hospital at this time so I asked why they had lied saying she was at the home having her dinner? They couldn’t give me an answer.
My grandma passed with having sepsis and pneumonia. The hospital raised safeguarding concerns upon her arrival from Jah-Jireh.

Communication is very poor.
Heavily rely on the goodwill of their residents, families and brand name used.
Disingenuous management.
It’s imperative to visit before application. Don’t be turned away due to Covid. It’s imperative to read all neutral information about this place before placing loved
ones in there.
Establish capacity status in writing by management so no grey areas.
Trust your gut feeling. You know your loved one better than anyone.

Thank you for your feedback. We have a complaints policy which we use to resolve matters as quickly as possible. To do this effectively, the first point of contact is to raise the matter with the senior member of staff on duty. If it cannot be resolved straight away the next step would be to put the complaint in writing to the manager. Other points of escalation are covered in our policies. We work closely with the authorities to continue to provide services that meet their expectations, where improvements are necessary we will and do take appropriate action.
As a matter of policy and to conform to legislative requirements we do not respond online to matters related to individual residents, as we are sure you appreciate that this would not be appropriate on a public forum.
We will do our best to respond and resolve matters in line with our policy and procedures.

I have complete peace of mind knowing that my dad is being cared for by staff that genuinely love him as if he were part of their own family. He is very happy in Jah-Jireh and I am very happy to recommend to anyone thinking of care for their loved one.
