Excellent admin support - very good to my bother and to me. Excellent handyman - put up his picture, TV set etc. Excellent and very caring, capable nurses giving him all the care my brother needed to be readmitted to hospital frequently, now that he gets the right care he has remained well. His room
is small but he has a view and there is a day room close by. One of the nurses ironed on all his name tags. The cook made him a lovely omelette when he did not find the menu tempting.

Reply from Vicki Rees, Regional Operations Manager at Dolphin View Care Home

We are pleased your brother has settled in well at Dolphin View and you are both happy with the care provided, the staff in the care home are dedicated in ensuring all residents receive the best care and support possible.

Unfortunately, my experience wasn't particularly good. My dad was admitted to Dolphin View on the 14th of June 2024 after suffering a stroke in April and he needed a nursing home. I went and visited Dolphin View on the 12th of June. I met with the manager who was very nice and staff. I went to have
a look around and pass on mine and my sister's contact details so that if we needed as I live close by I could be there asap. However, the manager didn't enter our contact details to my dad's file. As a consequence of these actions my dad passed away on the 10th of July without any of his daughters being there to say goodbye. The police came to my door at 6am that morning to inform me that my dad had passed away. I did have a meeting with someone from head office regarding this. I believe the manager has since resigned from her post. I do believe there are new measures in place. I really hope so as I would hate anyone to go through this experience.

Reply from Sandra Ward, Operations Director at Dolphin View Care Home

Following receipt of the complaint, Roseberry Care completed a full investigation into the concerns raised, Senior Management met with the complainant, and apologised for the breakdown in communication at the home level. Lessons had been learnt and the process was updated on admission into the home. As per Roseberry's complaint policy, a formal written outcome of findings and an apology letter were sent to the daughter.

The staff at South Quay Care Home was brilliant, they couldn't do enough for my mum. They used to pop in and out of Mum's room to make sure she was ok but during her last days before she passed away the staff was exceptional. Cannot fault them at all. They made Mum comfortable. Five stars for the care
home and staff.

My mam has been having respite at this home and all I can say is how welcome she's been made to feel by all the staff, the manager has gone above and beyond to keep her safe, the staff are so friendly and I feel so relieved at how well my mam is being cared for, her health has improved so much and she
is eating well and joining in all activities too, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend South Quay Nursing Home and I have peace of mind my mam is safe due to the wonderful caring staff.

Lowgate Nursing Home

The manager, administrative staff, cooks and events organiser all disappeared at the same time with no explanation forthcoming. No point of contact as before when the manager was available and admin staff for payments etc. Atmosphere strained. I have put 'Good' for management since removed and no replacement.
Prior to this, management was highly satisfactory, important things like maintaining hearing aids and ensuring residents are able to communicate with visitors and staff neglected. Food, especially tea time, poor e.g. 'Rehashed' soup and burnt eggy bread/French toast.

Reply from Sandra Ward, Regional Operations Manager at Lowgate Nursing Home

I appreciate this may have been an unsettling period for you, unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances we did lose several staff members including management in July 2024, a senior manager has supported the home during this time and continues to support a new manager recently appointed. A regional support administrator has completed day-to-day duties. The Deputy Manager has remained a key point of contact in the home, with the dedicated Nurses Chaps Senior's and care staff. The vacant roles have all been recruited into following the correct recruitment process and regulatory checks. We have recruited an experienced Head Cook who joined us in August, menus have been reviewed in discussion with residents. Staff/resident meetings have taken place and staff supported in a particularly difficult time. I am sorry that you feel you have not had a satisfactory explanation of events, however, I am sure you will appreciate we have to protect the confidentiality of both current and ex-employees.

My mam was moved here from palliative care for lung cancer in April and sadly took her last breath with family surrounding her on Monday 15th July. Once on arrival my mam and our family were welcomed with open arms. I can't put into words the amount of gratitude I have for the care, love and support
my mam had off the carers and also myself as it became my second home. My mam settled straight in which was our concern as a family. She loved all the carers and it's heartwarming seeing how they made my mam feel so comfortable. The support we had as a family in the last dark hours I will never forget. The send-off they gave my mam was lovely and emotional. I will forever be grateful to every single one of these guys.

Reply from Charlotte Shiels, Manager at South Quay Care Home

Thank you so much for these kind words. The staff and management team felt honored to look after your mum in these final months and I'm glad you felt she had the best care she could have had. It was lovely to meet you and your family even if it was in such sad circumstances. Take care of yourselves.

We needed to find a nursing home for dad and feel very fortunate to have secured a place for him at Dolphin View. The care and respect he has been shown have been great alongside care and consideration for mum and us as a family as we adjust to his care arrangement. Managers are available and respond
positively to feedback and are committed to quality care. The staff are kind and professional and work really hard.

My father was admitted in May for fast track continuing care pathway and was treated with the utmost kindness and care and everyone from the manager downwards was totally professional and committed to offering the very best of care and concern and friendliness. Nothing was too much trouble in the quest
to keep him comfortable and make his final days as pleasant as possible under the circumstances. I could not ask for better or praise everyone too highly. As it turns out, his stay was relatively short but I felt comfortable knowing that he was safe and looked after as well as possible in his final days. I would recommend this care home to anyone seeking a safe and comfortable place for their relatives.

Lowgate Care Home has a fabulous team of staff headed by an amazing manager, the compassion and energy she puts into her position resonate through her entire team, who are all dedicated to giving the best care to every resident. From the moment you enter the care home, you are greeted by the kind faces
of the manager and staff who ensure you are directed to where you need to go.
One of the staff members ensures that there is always daily entertainment from pony and pet visits, bingo, board games to singers and always puts a smile on all the resident's faces throughout the day.
My mum has received the best care since going in for respite in January with Dementia, she now is permanent and we are so grateful that Mum has been fortunate to be able to stay local for her friends and family to be able to visit her.
Happy staff, happy residents, top job to all!

Staff very friendly. My dad is very happy here. He is well looked after. However, I dont always think his room is as clean as it could be. He also uses a commode (and/or a bottle) in his room to go to the toilet and it is often full when I visit which is not pleasant.

My dad didn't stay long as his health deteriorated very fast. From arriving at the door with him very poorly after caring for him at home, we were greeted with friendly, caring faces and a warm welcome with compassion as I was visibly upset. From being carried out of the car to a wheelchair and taken
inside, all my father's care needs were met and they couldn't have been kinder to my dad and my family. Anything to make my dad's last days more comfortable, they offered, and when I wanted to stay with him, a bed was provided. He was spoken to so lovely, and his care was respectful until the end. One nurse I can only describe as an angel that night, and I don't think she will realise how much comfort I gained from her. Lots of lovely carers I saw when I visited throughout the day, and I can't remember all thier names, but I remember one. He is like a ray of sunshine. Up until after my father passed - we couldn't have been better cared for or supported.

Reply from Charlotte Shiels, Manager at South Quay Care Home
