My Mum has been a resident at Moorend Place for quite a few years now. I cannot adequately describe in words how wonderful the staff are. My Mum, and all the other residents, are treated with such loving kindness. Dementia is such a difficult and complex condition and manifests in so many ways, but
the staff demonstrate such an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the condition in the ways they care for those with dementia. Residents are treated with such love, patience and kindness always, and never more so than when they are distressed or upset. The staff are all exceptional. It is also a home with lots of fun, joy and happiness. Everything is done to make it a home from home and there are so many lovely activities for residents and families to enjoy. The staff are also amazing in providing support to families. I cannot speak highly enough of them.

Moorend Place were quick to take my Dad from a confusing hospital environment and help him settle into his new home smoothly and with great love and care. Every need was met and no request was too small or insignificant. All the staff were brilliant and he particularly enjoyed some banter with the male
carers, keen to bring out that lovely smile of his. Highly recommend this care home.

The only downside the care home is the laundry. Its very rare my sister-in-law has her own clothes on despite everything she has labels in.

Norbury Court

from J G (Friend of Resident) published on 8 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5

Has been a dreadful experience - the home is understaffed, the moral is through the floor.
Food choices are dreadful. The level of care given is in need of a full review. I feel the problems stem from lack of proper management + leadership. Not surprised it was put into special measures.
But a new
manager is now in charge & I feel a change already. The rooms ae cleaner, the smell is reducing + hopefully once she has more time it will be much better for relatives & residents to be there.

Reply from M Benson, Regional Operations Manager at Norbury Court

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are truly sorry that historically, your experience of our home was not positive. We acknowledge that in the past the service faced significant challenges. However, we are pleased to share that since the appointment of our new manager and new regional operations team, we have made substantial improvements, which we are delighted to say has been recognised in the recent CQC inspection which has just been published: the home is no longer in special measures & has been awarded "Good" in Caring, which reflects the dedication of our staff & the improvements made.We have actively responded to feedback & remain committed to delivering high- quality, person-centred care & we will continue to work hard to ensure this is achieved & sustained. If you would like to discuss your experience further please do not hesitate to contact the new manager directly - we welcome all feedback as part of our journey to ongoing improvement.

The staff at Moorend Place are exceptional. The staff genuinely seem to care for the residents and your loved one is cared for as an individual. The staff at Moorend consistently go above and beyond to make the experience for the resident and their families as comfortable and as comforting as possible.
The staff have a "nothing is too much trouble" attitude, always willing to help. The communication with family is outstanding and the manager will respond to e-mails even out of hours and when she is off work. The lack of staff turnover speaks volumes, in what must be a difficult, sad and stressful environment. My Mother had been a resident at Moorend since 2020. When my Father was diagnosed with dementia, and needed residential care, the staff at Moorend created a double room which allowed my parents to be together for the last 3 weeks of my Mothers life. We truly believe that my Mother was, and my Father is, in the very best place, we couldn't ask for more.

Moorend Place Nursing Home

from Frankie H (Daughter of Resident) published on 19 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Moorend Place and all their wonderful staff have been a godsend over the past 4+ years. When Mum's dementia deteriorated during Covid, we wanted to find a residential home that would always put Care and Kindness first. At Moorend Place this is definitely a priority. They went over and beyond to settle
Mum into her new surroundings and have always been there to support Dad too.
Mum passed away in Dec 2024 just a few weeks after our Dad joined her at Moorend. The staff couldn't have done any more to support us through this extremely difficult time.
Our relationship with Moorend Place now continues with Dad. As another difficult chapter begins for our family we know Dad is in safe hands.
As my sister and I both live abroad, good communication is essential. The manager and staff are exceptional in this regard. We have built up a good relationship with the home over the past 4 years and this provides us with much needed peace of mind.
A massive thank you to you all.

Reply from Emma Smith, Manager at Moorend Place Nursing Home

My mum has been a resident at Moorend Place for 18 months now and it really does feel like home from home.
The staff are professional but still manage to treat everyone as family. They take the time to come and chat with me and my mum when I visit and always check how I am doing too.
Each time I
visit I witness genuine love and kindness from the staff towards the residents around us. If my mum is feeling sleepy - especially in the afternoon - they will make her comfortable in bed for an hour instead of leaving her to sleep uncomfortably in her chair - which I think is lovely.
The space is utilised well. There are 3 lounges and 2 dining rooms, which gives it a cosy feel, instead of one large room. I join my mum for lunch sometimes and the food is really good (especially the puddings).
The activity staff are incredible and make a great effort to involve everyone as much as they can and make them feel special and important. The calendar is always busy with events.
A lovely home.

Mum has been at Moorend for over 12 months. She is treated with dignity and kindness by the staff. The staff are truly amazing in their care of all the residents. They are patient, kind and accepting of all the residents' personal foibles. Relatives are always welcome and listened to regarding worries
and concerns. The home has a pleasant atmosphere and provides a range of activities, including a regular Friday coffee morning. The manager is always available to listen to comments and suggestions, which are almost always acted upon.
The decor is not the best, but the friendliness and genuine care from the staff make up for that.

The care at Moorend Place is excellent. Stable and caring staff, well managed and supportive of family members of residents. Reasonable facilities with regular activities.
My wife receives nursing care and suffers from dementia although she's only 74 years old. She's been a resident at Moorend Place
for more than 18 months after she was moved from a home that was unable to meet her needs. Moorend was chosen following advice from two sources. It's been a difficult time for family members but the support we've received from the staff and management has been exemplary.

Moorend Place Nursing Home

from Jane G (Daughter of Resident) published on 24 January 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mum came to Moorend in August 2024, having had a rapid decline in her dementia. (My dad was also a resident for 2 years up to October 2019).
Mum had been in respite at a few care homes in the summer, and none of them cared for her like Moorend. It really is amazing. Mum wasn't eating and spent
all day in bed, but within 2 days of moving in she was asking for food and starting to interact. This was all down to the care of the staff, who have so much time and patience. The manager is extremely helpful and welcoming, and nothing is too much trouble. It speaks volumes that many of the staff are still there from 7 years ago when Dad was there.
I have seen Mum come back to life. The activities are varied, and the staff really interact with the residents to get them involved and participating.
Feedback is welcomed and listened to. It was great around Christmas as there was so much going on, from making decorations to festive coffee mornings.
I can't thank the manager and staff enough.

I cannot thank Moorend Place enough for all the kindness, care, and support they gave my Dad during the short time he spent with them. Every member of staff goes above and beyond for all the residents in their care, treating them all like family. This truly is a home from home they cater for all the
resident's individual needs while gently encouraging them to enjoy the things they like the best. Be it music, painting, concerts or even enjoying a good movie western. Our family was always made to feel really welcome and the Forget Me Not cafe never closes. Thank you for making my Dad's final weeks and days comfortable and homely. You are brilliant.

First and foremost this facility is all about care and care is all about people. Every person we have interacted with in every capacity has an authentic caring nature, which has extended beyond their care for Mum and also included me and my family. The rooms are spacious and well equipped, meals are
well prepared and provide variety. Activities are well thought out and engaging. The provision of care and nursing services ensures continuous end-to-end support. The best decision we helped Mum to make.

Dad was only in the home for a few months, but in that time the whole staff made us feel that nothing was too much trouble to make him comfortable and at home. Mum was made to feel that he was loved and it made such a difference to the guilt she was feeling for having to put him in a home (at the age
of 94). All the family were welcomed and made to feel part of a larger family which we will miss enormously. We will be forever grateful for the team making the end of his life so much more bearable for him and our family. We would unreservedly recommend this home to anyone for the loving care and support given to us all. Thank you.

My mother has been on Moorend for about 18 months and has received care, consideration, respect, support, supervision, stimulation, and affection from all members of the care and nursing team.
The activity team work very hard to provide engagement for residents.
Mom looked forward to every meal.
Sadly
in August Mom passed away receiving end-of-life care, the staff were amazing compassionate and professional in dealing with every aspect. It made a major difference to the way we were able to deal with the passing.

Excellent place - lovely little cafe and courtyard which holds regular activities, coffee mornings and family visits. Moorend Place is really a home-from-home. The level of care, thoughtfulness and compassion
towards Dad and ourselves was outstanding and exemplary on every level and we could not have
wished for better.
We knew he was comfortable, settled, in safe hands, and got the best possible care being treated with dignity and respect.
Staff at every level were professional, friendly and thoughtful towards both us and Dad. We felt that you really got to know Dad, his likes, dislikes, needs, and character and were therefore able to deliver truly holistic and person-centred care. It was clear that this was not just a job for the staff, they were interested in Dad's life and interests, regularly engaging him in meaningful conversation. All staff have an absolute passion and vocation for the care that they deliver.
We cannot recommend Moorend Place highly enough.
