My mum was in Stocks Hall Care Home for over 6 months, until she passed away. The staff were kind, caring and patient with her from the start. They also welcomed Mum's visitors every time we came, including our dog. Nothing was ever too much trouble. We were all treated like family. I couldn't have
wished for a better care home for Mum and have no trouble in recommending this care home.

What a lovely care home. The staff are really friendly and always do amazing activities with them. Always keep updating the rooms and keep everything looking fresh and clean. They go above and beyond to resolve a problem. The manager has made so many improvements and is always available when you need
her! A family friend lives here and they look after him so well. Thank you so much.

I had spent months looking around the Northwest Area for a respite care home for my wife who has dementia. I was recommended to Stocks Hall Mawdesley by a friend. My first impression of Stocks Mawdesley is it looks like a five-star hotel, I called in, on the off chance one Sunday. I was given a quick
tour around and found the place very nice and the staff very friendly and helpful. I made arrangements over the next month or so to have further discussions with the management. I decided that Stocks was the ideal place for my wife and it would put my mind at rest on how she would be looked after, while I took my respite. I can only say that it was a great decision, my wife enjoyed it immensely, confirmed by all our family/friends who visited her. I would like to thank again the management cares, and the staff who are behind the scenes that were involved in my wife's care, thus making it easier for me to leave her for the first time in our 54 years of marriage.

I am very pleased that my father-in-law was looked after in this home. The staff were welcoming and kind. They treat my relative and all the family with great kindness, respect and dignity. Areas were clean and tidy. The food was excellent. My father-in-law regained his appetite and put in weight whilst
at the home, recommend this place highly.

Fantastic friendly and caring staff make this care home the perfect place for my dad. My dad is treated with respect, dignity and love. The staff seem to know him and understand him. He has settled brilliantly after struggling in a different care home. what is also amazing is how lovely everyone is
to us, his family. For example, they encouraged my 90-year-old mum to eat with my dad. This has made her day. She's so happy she can share a meal with my dad and it helps her as she doesn't need to make her own meal on those days. Thank you for everything!

My father has been a resident for around two months. He has been really well looked after and is making good progress. All the staff are really friendly and professional, they are really friendly and always give my mother, wife and myself a very warm welcome when we visit. The home is always clean and

My husband was transferred to Stocks Hall Burscough in November 2023, and the care he has been given by all the staff, and always with a cheery smile, is second to none. From the moment he arrived, we have both been made to feel so welcome, and nothing is too much trouble. The atmosphere here is not
so much one of "being in a care home" but simply that of being "at home" with every person, as I have seen here, both residents and relatives, being cared for as if they were part of a large family and I am able to relax, in the knowledge that he is so happy and settled here.

My late wife lived in the care home for six years, from November 2017. Throughout that time, her complex needs were met in a highly satisfactory way. I was a frequent visitor, and I always got a warm welcome.
Pandemic handles superbly.
Until she became bedbound, she took part, sometimes with me,
in a range of activities provided by the Wish team.

Quite simply, the love, care and attention my father receives from all nursing and cares at Stocks Hall Nursing Home Skelmersdale was above and beyond what I expected. His final moments of life were dignified and attentive. Words are simply not enough. My father has very complex needs and requirements,
to put it mildly. Thank you - I need not have worried, and the time he had with you was perfect.

Beautiful clean home. The majority of the carers and nurses are wonderful at their jobs. Some carers and nurses need CPD in relation to having conversations with family members of residents. Some comments and questions asked are inappropriate and inconsiderate towards resident's and families' feelings/situations.
I cannot yet comment on the new manager. She hasn't been in position long enough.

Stocks Hall Residential Home Ormskirk

from Helen B (Daughter of Resident) published on 10 November 2023
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

My mother has been a resident of the dementia wing at Stocks Hall Ormskirk since Summer 2022. This was actually the third home we tried- the other two weren't a great fit and her symptoms worsened, but since she has been at Stocks Hall Mum has been much more settled.
The staff at Stocks are so friendly
and caring, and have made a real effort to get to know Mum and to engage her in activities. There's always a lot going on, and a really nice atmosphere around the place. Everything is always clean and the dementia wing was recently redecorated. There are always new decorations and activities appearing around the place, so it's a stimulating environment to be in. The dining room and snug are really nicely set out in a homely style.
We're really happy with the quality of care that Mum receives at Stocks. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is that the outdoor facilities are a little tired and laundry sometimes goes missing.

My husband has been in three other nursing homes, plus two hospitals, since the COVID started and he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. I have had no choice at all. The last home was terrible. This nursing home is really, really good. I have no problems at all with this nursing home. The staff are lovely
and I feel my husband is happy.

I was very impressed with the bright, spacious and extremely well-maintained look of the care home on my first visit and am pleased to say I have seen actions in the past year in maintaining the very high standards. The staff on reception always greet me with a smile. The carers and nurses are always
attentive to the needs of my wife and always greet you with a smile, obviously happy in their work.

My husband has been a resident on Catkin nursing care unit for 12 months. The standard of care, cleanliness, food and support are all excellent. I can't praise the staff from the management, nurses, carers, cleaners and kitchen staff enough - they are all a credit to the home. The atmosphere at the
home is very friendly and happy, it's a pleasure to be able to invite family, friends and especially the grandchildren to come and visit.

The staff are caring and friendly. There are varied stages of dementia within the unit. It must be difficult for staff to support and help all the residents when they are at different stages of their dementia. Some require more help than others. The regular staff understand the needs of their regular
residents. I have seen new residents take time to settle in. Occasionally the smooth running of the unit is disrupted by too many agency staff on duty, this is usually over the weekends. I feel the home offers comfort, support and love to its residents.

The home looked after my dad in his last eight weeks. The managers were very supportive and the staff team very attentive throughout. Staff were particularly kind and emotionally nurturing in their approaches to him and indeed to all of the residents. My dad loved that the staff always said hello and
goodbye and took time when he asked them for support and attended to him promptly and with a smile. The ancillary staff were all equally attentive, from the domestic staff to handyperson, and part of the team in welcoming you and being personable. The nurses were supportive in reviewing his care with me and took on board my wishes. The nurses rang me regularly to keep me in the loop whenever anything changed. The managers were always very clearly on the ball and walking the floor to make sure the care was of the highest order too. It was a good feeling from our initial visits to the home through to my dad's death. Your kindness was very much appreciated.

Mum has been here for over 12 months. The staff are kind and helpful and will often go the extra mile, her key worker, in particular, is fantastic.
She's always clean and well looked after and despite her protestations that she's always fed spam and chips, I can confirm this is not true!
There are
regular activities including baking and bingo (the latter being very popular as it's an opportunity to refill her sweetie stash) and gardening in the warmer months. There have been a few instances of missing clothes/belongings which have mostly been located and if not located staff have exhaustively looked for them. The manager is very approachable and clearly knows the residents. The staff are friendly and kind.
