Birkenhead Court

My wife started suffering from dementia about 5 years ago and I had carers coming in 3 times a day but I could no longer cope so, reluctantly, the family took the decision to put her in Birkenhead Court last April (2024). You were recommended by a home care provider and the family GP. I am really delighted
with the home where she is treated with the utmost respect and has settled in well. I can now sleep at night knowing she is in good hands. I know it's experience but worth it for my peace of mind. Thank you so much.

I can honestly say that I am 100% impressed with the quality of this home. My mother in law has been in here since September 2024 and has settled in very well with the aid of the wonderful staff. They really are wonderful with her. She is always well dressed, clean and well fed. I can not praise the
place to other people enough. I would highly recommend the home to anyone.

It wasn't an easy decision to put Dad into nursing care and we looked into various places, Sandstones had wonderful reviews and we now know why.
The care that Dad receives is 2nd to non, each and every carer is so caring and considerate, nothing is too much trouble. We are really happy that we chose
Sandstones.

Reply from Ben Lloyd, Manager at Sandstones

As a family we cannot speak too highly of the care my mother has received, especially so when she was poorly recently. I know she considers all the staff as her friends, who always have time for a chat or kind word. She is happy in her new 'home' where she feels safe, secure and valued. Personally,
as a frequent visitor, I am greeted warmly and with respect. Unlike other homes I have visited, Thomas Henshaw has a warm and homely atmosphere which is evident as soon as the door is open.

My husband has been in Sandstones Care Home since May 2024. Right from the start the staff were helpful, caring and understanding it's not easy when someone you love can't be cared for at home any more but the management and staff have made it easier to accept. They have become part of our family and
we thank them for that they are always available when needed service with a smile.

Mum has been a resident since last year, we were struggling to find somewhere suitable, some of the places we looked at weren't good, we were so lucky to find sandstones.
She's been very well looked after since arriving there, we feel reassured that she's in safe hands, it's taken the worry & stress
off us.

An extremly welcoming environment making all feel at home. How the staff (all of them) manage to stay so happy and upbeat all the time I do not know. All staff are clearly well trained and appear to be happy in their roles, they provide a real home from home atmosphere. I consider Sandstones to be well
managed providing dignity, support and fun for everyone.

We moved my mum into Sandstones after having to move her from another home where she had been happy. However, finances meant we had to move her in March 2024. The support to enable her to settle was second to none. Staff were always on hand to support her and us as a family. She is really happy, loves
the room that she has and really feels like she is in her own home. The food is really excellent care and support are fantastic and communication between the home and our family is excellent. Thank you to all staff you are stars!

I've been really impressed with Birkenhead Court since my mum moved there in January from another home. From the initial visit, through to actually getting her into her room on the first day, I could not have asked for any better. On the various visits I've subsequently made, all the staff seem really
friendly and nothing it too much trouble to ask. The carers have even been able to get her walking from her room to the lounge area, something I would not have considered possible previously.

A very happy care home. Dad has been here since August 2024 and the difference in him is amazing. It took a while for him to settle into his new home but with the encouragement, care and compassion from the staff he finally got there. I could not think of a negative thing to say about Upton Grange.
It was the hardest decision ever to put Dad into a care home, but I am so happy I chose this one, as Dad's forever home. Well done to all the staff. It is lovely to see happy chants whenever I visit Dad.

They provided numerous daily activities over the Christmas period that Dad really enjoyed. I feel secure in

I can't praise this care home enough for the love and care they showed my mum during her stay. From my initial contact, when we were deciding on options for Mum's care, to the outstanding detail they showed in caring for her at her end of life, each staff member was an angel sent.
The environment,
facilities, activities and nutrition/hydration are high priorities with the residents' and families' needs at the centre of all they do. Mum was the most settled and happy we had seen her for months. I was kept up to date on visits on her welfare and when her health declined, the staff were there every step of the way making sure she was cared for with dignity and love.
My dear mum passed away in November and if it wasn't for the attentive nature of the staff, working with the family to ensure her palliative stages of care were met, I have no doubt Mum's passing would not have been as peaceful. The whole family were extremely well supported and our needs were equally cared for during Mum's time at the home.

My mum came into the care home, very frail and disorientated.
A couple of months on, she has gained weight, gets 24 hour support and is starting to look like "old mum" used to.
I cannot praise the staff enough for their support of the residents and standard of care provided.
Thank you for helping
my mum with her dementia and recommend Birkenhead Court to any family seeking assistance.

My mum has been at Birkenhead Court since January 2024. She is diagnosed with dementia and is partially blind and hard of hearing. I have witnessed a great deal of warmth and care towards my mum from all the staff. They offer a lot of humour which my mum appreciates and are very supportive. Staff encourage
all residents to get involved with the activities and there are regular singers which my mum particularly enjoys. I visit my mum between 3 and 4 times a week and on every occasion she has been smartly dressed with her hair done. She also enjoys regular visits to the on-site hairdresser. I feel very pleased with the care she receives at Birkenhead Court and I am confident that the home is being managed with the residents at the forefront of the decision making.

My mum has been a resident for a long time. Staff have always given her the best care, love and compassion. The home is decorated lovely for Christmas with parties and there are always lovely activities to keep her entertained. Although Mum's health is poor, staff are alert and act quickly and professionally
when she is ill. I really don't think Mum would still be with us if it wasn't for their care. It's such a comfort to know she is safe and cared for so well.
