St Marys

You can't imagine the burden that has been lifted during the 4 months my husband has been with you... He seems to react far better with the female staff than he did with me! So it is a relief that they can manage him.
I know the carers are paid to do their job but they often go the extra mile. May
I add that the Chrismas dinner was exemplary and was lucky to have been included. I believe in giving praise where praise is due.
This is a good example of the dependability of the staff: One day, after I'd sped to inform the team that a resident was lying on the floor in my husbands lavatory it was action station! They coped admirably, thanked profoundly afterwards. May there be continuing reassureane like this for the residents and their relatives.

When we had to make the difficult decision to pass Mum's care into the hands of the professionals there was only place we ever considered and that was St Joseph's. We had heard so many good things about the staff and their compassionate care. We were not disappointed, from the day Mum entered the home
we knew she was safe and in good hands. However the staff didn't just take care of mum they took care of us as a family too. Nothing was too much trouble for them and we will be forever grateful to them for their compassionate care especially as Mum came to the end of her life. Simply put the staff just couldn't do enough for us. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone who finds themselves no longer able to care for their loved ones at home. Thank you will never be enough!

Having been Dads main carer it as a really big deal to put him into care, but I'm so happy with the care he receives and knowing his safe makes such a difference. All staff seem so kind and friendly and really like that their are so many activities, if he choose to take part.

Devonshire House

from Malcolm M (Son of Resident) published on 13 March 2025

My mum recently moved into Devonshire house, originally for 2 weeks respite as she was struggling at home. From the moment we first took her for a look around she fell in love with the place. Since being in Devonshire house my mum is really happy and cannot stop praising the staff and especially the
food. If there is something that does not suit on the menu they are happy to cook an alternative.
The home is always very clean and tidy and other residents are also very happy.
All the staff are very friendly and very helpful whenever we visit. My Mum is enjoying herself so much that she has decided that she is definitely staying.
It is very comforting for us to know that my mum is being so well looked after 24hrs a day. Also a big thank you to her carer who has been really helpful and helped with any concerns that we did have.

Every time I visit the care home. All staff and residents are very happy and helpful. There are lots of activities to take part in if the residents so wish. They have hairdressers and foot people that come to the home regularly. All in all, my experience is excellent.

My mother is always well cared for by the lovely carers at The Firs. They always treat her with respect and talk to her in a kind and friendly manner. They are aware that she likes to be among other residents and she spends most of her time in the day room which she enjoys. During her recent trip to
hospital they kept me fully informed and rang me daily to ask about her progress. They were as keen as I was for her to return to The Firs as soon as she was well enough.

I am my wife's carer and was looking for a care home to provide some respite. From beginning to end of her short stay at St Joseph's she was treated like a permanent resident with respect and care beyond my expectations. The staff are lovely and smile through every situation and really I wonder how
they do it.
As a family, we are now looking to place my wife within a care home permanently and will not look further than St Joseph's.

Marham House Care Home

from Janet C (Niece of Resident) published on 28 January 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My aunt has been a resident at Marham House for a month now. She has had a marvellous time, nothing is too much trouble and the staff have been kind and attentive at all times. All the staff know her by name, spend time talking with her and look out for her. The food has been amazing, and as visitors
we have enjoyed the tea and cake in the afternoon! When visiting we have always been greeted cheerfully, with an update on our aunt's day. The staff have been available at all times to help and care for her. A dream home!

Reply from Samantha Wallis, Regional Support Manager at Marham House Care Home

Thank you for taking the time to review Marham House and we are pleased that you rate our home as excellent in all areas. It's wonderful to see your kind comments, which I will circulate to our team. It's lovely to know that Mum is happy living at Marham House and enjoys our food. Visitors are always welcome in our home, and we are always here to help, as we appreciate that our residents' loved ones also sometimes need support.

My mother was a resident in St Joseph's for nearly four years until her death in December 2024. I cannot say strongly enough how amazing they were in handling her care and her well being. She was not the easiest of people to deal with but everything that was done for her was done with a smile on the
carers faces. Nothing was ever too much trouble. The staff's kindness in Mum's last few days was so touching. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending St Joseph's.

My father-in-law needed respite care after being injured in a traffic accident. The staff at Marham House did a thorough review of his needs prior to his stay. They made him feel welcome and safe and were excellent at answering all of our questions. We can't thank them enough for turning an upsetting
incident into such a positive experience for all of us.

The team at Marham House have been amazing in helping my mum to transition from her own home. It's a difficult time for all the family but they have worked with care, compassion and cheerfulness to help her to settle in. The facilities at the home are fantastic. The activities are fun and joyful but
most of all the staff are always friendly, supportive and fun to be around. I always enjoy visiting the home and my mum enjoys her life there.

Devonshire House

from K H (Daughter of Resident) published on 13 December 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

This care home is amazing. My mum has recently taken residence at Devonshire House and the professionalism and knowledge of the staff has made this process less stressful. The care home is home from home actually probably better than home! Warm and cosy, spotlessly clean everywhere, no smells that
you sometimes come across in some care homes. The catering is good, lovely home cooked food and as the chef walks through he checks everyone enjoyed their meal. The bedrooms are spacious with a large bathroom and modern shower. Cosy bed linens. To find somewhere so lovely for my mother after such a stressful time means I can finally get back to a life and routine again. Mum seems happy and settled and she seems very much at home. I can highly recommend Devonshire House with no hesitation.

Review of

Canterbury House

from David M (Nephew of Resident) published on 11 December 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

My aunt has been there for 5 years. It has been a roller coaster course with good and not so good times. Many changes of management and staff and at times periods of inferior care and support. Happily I can say this has changed since the current management were instituted.
There is a much better atmosphere
and the staff now seem to have stabilised. It has become a far more welcoming place. There were times in the past when we really didn't enjoy visiting.
There is a great activity programme and the residents have been empowered to decide what they want or don't want. The staff are so good dealing with my aunt and all her foibles and I do believe she is a lot happier. We have been very impressed and I can honestly say it is all down to the current management.
I think some of the internal fabric needs a little updating, my aunts room could do with a lick of paint, needed since she moved in! Bathroom very compact for the cost! Somehow the staff manage, not easy! Communal rooms are great.

Reply from Carolina Carvalho, Manager at Canterbury House

Thank you for taking to time to review Canterbury House and we are pleased that you rate our overall experience as very good. We apologise that you have not always felt welcome and that our care/support has occasionally not met our normally high standards. The well being of our residents and high quality care is always our priority and we welcome visitors as an integral part of day-to-day life. We encourage feedback to ensure we can consistently improve at Canterbury House. We're happy to discuss decorating your aunt's room as she would like or moving to another en suite room if she would prefer. We also have assisted bathrooms throughout our home, if residents would prefer to use these.

St Mary's staff are so kind and supportive and regularly walk the extra mile for the residents.
The home is clean and well designed with several little snugs to make it more homely. There are regular activities, sing songs, quizzes, flower arranging and seasonal activities.
The food is excellent.
Our mum has been at St Mary's for 4 years and we're really pleased and relieved that she's there.
Thank you to all the staff.

My mum is currently residing at St Joseph's and I wanted to say how amazing they are. One of the carers took my mum to the zoo last week which she thoroughly enjoyed and then danced to theatre music when she returned. That particular carer is so kind and the staff there are all so nice.
