Beckfield

After a lengthy stay in a previous care home and transferred to Beckfield for intensive physio. From arriving I was treated with friendliness, kindness and respect nothing was too much trouble. My room was equipped with everything I could have asked for, from an electric bed, wardrobe unit, draws, wash
basin, comfy armchair (correct height for easy standing up), colour television, unlimited towels numerous plug sockets and a bedside table with lamp and call bell with enough cable to reach the chair and wash basin. The room was cleaned and the bed linen was changed every day. Staff were on call 24 hours a day always cheerful nothing too much trouble. Meals served in the dining room after being ordered the evening before were prepared in on-site kitchens and of excellent quality and choice. The physio was excellent making my progress phenomenal and the Occupational Therapist, Physio Therapist and Social Worker made my move home easy. I have nothing but praise for the enablers and can never thank them enough for helping me. Thanks, Beckfield you’re ace.

Beckfield

My aunt, aged 96, after hospitalisation with a severe chest infection, was taken to Beckfield for respite care. The Care Home failed to recognise that my aunt had a broken bone in her spine after falling in hospital (later shown on CT-Scan). The staff forced my aunt to get up from her bed to use the
bathroom without giving her any physical aid or hands-on support. I was there once and could see that my aunt was in agony. I reached out and helped in spite of the staff. My aunt told me more than once that most of the staff did not care and they could not wait to get out of her room. Patients were meant to buzz for help but many times the buzzer was left out of reach of my aunt. Regular checks were not made. On two occasions she fell out of bed. I could give several more examples of where Beckfield failed in their duty of care. My cousin made an official complaint on 25 October but the manager has told the CQC that she has no record of this. This lack of accountability is unacceptable.

Everybody who works at Beckfield is fantastic.
All the carers are angels and understand what you want and need day or night.
I would recommend this facility to everyone.
The food was fantastic as were the Staff.
Finally a massive, thank you, to everyone for all you did for me and I recommend you
all get a pay rise.
