Mr C's

from Mark T (Son of Resident) published on 13 January 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My very elderly mother was resident at Mr C's care home for approximately three months. She had early onset dementia and had broken her hip at home, therefore necessitating the facilities of a care home, post operation to aid her recovery. She was cared for by the whole staff in an exemplary manner,
each and every one of the staff had a big smile and very friendly disposition. I was made welcome anytime of the day or evening when visiting. Communication was excellent at all times and whenever I had a question regarding any aspect of her care a satisfactory answer was always given. The doctors and nurses were always consulted immediately when an issue arose regarding her health. I got the impression that the whole staff including those cleaning and maintaining the property took a real pride in their job and thoroughly enjoyed working together, this is a good indicator that the establishment is well led.
Well done all. Keep up the high standard in what is a very demanding job.

The Willows

from L B (Daughter of Resident) published on 15 October 2024

Problem with one senior carer. Didn't know relative was being admitted for care, so we were left outside while they made a call. Let us inside, made another call and got our relative's name wrong. Allocated a room and they took us to the wrong one. Said they thought my relative was getting an infection
but failed to ring the doctor. Rang to ask what the problem was when relative was admitted to hospital. The second time they were admitted they failed to ring me to let me know and I found out from a doctor at the hospital 13 hours later. Then proceeded to ring the hospital when family member was in end of life. A catalogue of errors from someone who is a senior carer and supposedly has a duty of care to the people they look after. We as a family feel like we have been failed terribly by their incompetence. The other carers in the home were really nice and caring. But the bad experience we had with this one particular carer has totally put me off recommending the place to anyone else.

Mr C's

from Mary O (Daughter of Resident) published on 25 September 2024

If you love your relative do not send them here. Whilst the staff try their best, they appear to be under-trained in certain areas and understaffed. My mum was left to sit in her own urine for hours as well as being left unattended in a chair she could not get up from without any way of calling for
assistance. We removed her within 24 hours of her being placed at Mr C's.

Reply from Fiona Grigg, Manger at Mr C's

In Response to the review. I am the new manager at Mr C's. I have re-looked at the complaint that was raised and can see we were fully staffed at the time. Daily notes documented showed the lady was well cared for during her 24-hour stay. All rooms have a call bell system and when residents are sat in the lounge or dining room a member of staff is usually present. Residents are regularly assisted/supported to the toilet either in their room or an assessable toilet downstairs. Speaking with staff about the resident in question it was felt that not enough time had been given to the resident to settle in. As the new Manager, it upsets me to think that the family felt she was not cared for. All I can do is apologise about this and reassure anyone that The care staff are fully trained and the home is well staffed with a senior member of staff in the building at all times.

We are so incredibly grateful to the manager and the team for helping Dad (and us) as he transitioned from hospital to respite care following a series of falls. Everyone is so helpful, patient, kind and caring and Dad is settling in so well and eating again, which is something he wasn't doing at home.
He is also socialising which again is something he wasn't doing. The relief to me and my brother is immense. Thank you all so much.

Harewood Court Nursing Home & Specialist Dementia Unit

After viewing various care homes we came across this home, my father spent the last 8 months of his life there and he was so happy. All the staff and carers go above and beyond to make your loved ones feel as if they are one of their own, food menu and activities are high on their list to see what could
be done better as the staff and management are very forward thinking. They have meetings with the loved ones of residents in the home and also arrange cocktails and quizzes and barbecues. A big thanks to all at Harewood Court.

Pelham Grove Care Home

from L H (Daughter of Resident) published on 9 July 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My dad has lived at Pelham Grove since November 2019. He is by nature a very unsettled person and really struggled with the idea of living in a home, but as his dementia developed he needed 24-hour support to be safe. Pelham Grove is a wonderful, homely place with wonderful staff who deliver a really
consistent standard of care. It is the best place my dad could possibly at this time in his life. Thanks to the manager and all the staff.

A great nursing home with a brilliant staff team. Our mum is well cared for and all the family encouraged to support her. Thank you for all you do to make her life better each day.
Some homes look glamorous but have teams that don’t invest in the quality of relationships or care you will find at Oakhurst.

Lovely care home. My mum is there and loving it. Lovely staff all very kind. Enjoy the entertainment days. Very settled following the sad death of my dad. Great atmosphere enjoying all the meals. Able to personalise her bedroom. Lots of flexibility for mum. As a family take her out.

My dad has been a resident since June 2023. I could not begin to thank the staff for all the care and support he and our family receive. All his needs are met, even down to the food which he really enjoys. The peace of mind Harewood Court gives us is unbelievable. I could not thank them enough.

Reply from Patricia Simpson, Clinical Leader at Harewood Court Nursing Home & Specialist Dementia Unit

Thank you so much for your kind words. We all strive to make this a pleasant place to be, it is helped by the positivity and gratitude shown by you and your family. It is a real pleasure looking after your wonderful Dad.

Pelham Grove Care Home

from Debbie W (Daughter of Resident) published on 22 February 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mum has been a resident at Pelham Grove Care Home since December 21. Mum had been in hospital for several weeks before being transferred to Pelham with a view to stay long term.
It was a very upsetting time for us as a family, having to accept that Mum required 24-hour care in a care home. Pelham
made her feel welcome right away and have always been amazing and caring with Mum and our family. This made us feel reassured.
The manager and the entire team are extremely hard-working and always happy to help us with any queries or concerns we have. I visit lots of nursing homes within my job role as a clinician and can honestly say Pelham Grove as a care home knocks spots off many of the nursing homes!
I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home to anyone considering a place for their loved one.
Thanks a million guys.

Oakhurst Court Nursing Home is an amazing place. The staff are really caring and are amazing with the residence. When we were looking for a place for my mother-in-law, we were so worried we would not get a great one again. But as soon as my husband and I walked into Oakhurst, we felt the love and care
around the home. Everyone was welcoming. Each time I visit my mother, I still get that lovely feeling of safety that my mother needs; they are so patient with all the residents and always make them feel special. From the management to the carers, cleaners, kitchen staff, builders, and laundrette person, they are all lovely, caring people, and we are so happy we were told to go and visit there because we all are so happy with it all. Thank you to all the staff at Oakhurst; you are all amazing.

The staff are all very hard-working and make our family very welcome when we visit. Overall they go above and beyond to look after our dear mum and all the residents in their care. Not only do they always strive to do their best for everyone, but they treat them as family. This is really important to
us as Mum is very happy and comfortable in this establishment. The bond between the residents and staff is a joy to see. The staff are always looking to introduce new activities to keep the residents engaged and motivated. I would have no hesitation in recommending Castle Park. The staff and the care they provide is outstanding - thank you each and everyone. Keep up the good work!

My mum has been living at Castle Park for nearly a year, having moved from another home that she was unhappy with. Castle Park has changed her life and she is now happy, comfortable and well-settled. The staff are wonderful, incredibly caring and their long experience at the home really shows. There
are lots of events and activities for the residents, who spend their days in the communal lounge, rather than cooped up in their rooms. There is always a nurse on duty and Mum has regular visits from the podiatrist and whatever other services she needs, and gets her hair done every month. She has a comfortable room; everywhere is always spotlessly clean and she has made friends over her time there. We are so pleased that we moved Mum to Castle Park. I can't fault them on anything.

My mother-in-law has been a resident at Castle Park since August 2023. My husband and I are delighted to say that she's settled in really well in a relatively short space of time. She's not able to live alone anymore and the entire team at Castle Park have become like a second family to her. She feels
safe and happy there and tells us that the staff are all wonderful and that the food is delicious. They really are like one big happy family. We particularly like the online chat group they've set up so that relatives can get regular updates on forthcoming activities. Their communication with relatives is fabulous. All the staff at Castle Park work so hard to ensure that their residents are well cared for and kept entertained with various activities and visiting singers. My mother-in-law loves having a manicure and getting her hair done! I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Castle Park Care Home to anyone looking for peace of mind when it comes to their nearest and dearest.

My mum is being cared for in this beautiful care home, by wonderful caring staff. I am so happy that Mum is fortunate to have a home here. Nothing is too much trouble for the carers all seem happy and professional. Having worked in care for a number of years I know how difficult it can be with challenging
behaviour at times, they are able to deal with such times with ease. Thank you to everyone at Jubilee House.

All of the staff have been fantastic in the care shown to my mother. In difficult times nothing was too much trouble. We never saw a member of staff without a cheery smile. We observed entertainers who were supportive and kind to other residents. All of her needs were catered for. We know that she is
sad to leave but has made terrific progress since she has been in their care.
