Heartly Green

Mum sadly passed away at the beginning of February after 6 1/2 years as a resident. We cannot thank all staff enough for the care and love shown to her.
It is a difficult decision to hand your loved one over to strangers but we believe it is thanks to you that we had Mum for 97 years.
She could be
trying at times due to dementia but you were always patient and understanding of her needs, always keeping us updated on what was happening.
As Mum slowly declined in health you ensured she was always clean and fresh, things that mattered to her, e.g. her nails, always kept clean. When she didn't want to eat you tempted her and found she would eat yogurt or egg custards. Little things that meant so much.
Her last few weeks we cannot thank you enough for all you did, going above and beyond.
We just want to take this opportunity to Thank every member of staff, past and present for everything, there are no words to convey how much we appreciate what you have done for her and us over 6 1/2 years.

Reply from Georgea Buckle, Operations Executive at Heartly Green

Thank you so much for your heartfelt words. We're truly sorry for your loss, and it means so much to us to hear that our care and support made a difference to both your mum and your family. It was an honor for the team to care for her over the years, and we're incredibly grateful for your kind appreciation of the team's efforts.

The care home has improved over the last few months in many ways. Management, staff and building improvements in all areas. The care and attention to the clients is also much better. We would like to thank all staff on the units for their work and support and hope that those improvements will continue
in the future. The home has a lot to give. The place has a nice feel when you walk in now and a much happier place all round.

Charlotte Grange Residential Care Home

from K S (Son of Resident) published on 20 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

The overall care, support and attention to needs of our mother have been good. As with all new environments it takes time to evaluate all of the likely situations likely to be met during our mothers stay.
The only concern is the room, there is considerable wear and tear and the failed window unit
makes it difficult to see the outside world. The family will re-decorate the room to improve our mothers and any visitors time while here. Overall above satisfied. Also we have noticed mother is left alone with a drink that she spills and causes distressed, discomfort and embarrassment. We have raised this but it is ongoing.

Reply from Georgea Buckle, Operations Executive at Charlotte Grange Residential Care Home

Thank you for your feedback. We're glad to hear your mother's overall care and support have been good. The refurbishment has been addressed and we're awaiting planned dates for this. We're also pleased to let you know the drink issue has been resolved with the use of a suitable utensil. Our manager's door is always open if you'd like to discuss anything further - we're here to help.

My experience was not as well as I would like it to be. The full building smells of urine, the light has some tape over where clearly something is broke which then becomes a hazard for residents in the building and the public. Staff didn't really greet us on arrival.

Reply from Georgea Buckle, Operations Executive at Eachstep Blackburn

We're really sorry to hear about your experience - this isn't the standard we aim for. Your concerns about the smell, maintenance issues, and staff welcome are important, and we'll address them with the team to ensure improvements are made. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. My dad went into the home in February 2024 when it wasn't that good. NO organisation staffing was an issue - level of care was non-existent, the home wasn't a happy place then in June 2024 everything changed for the best. - The manager was removed a higher nurse and staff. A particular staff member
was amazing confronting all the families saying things were on the the up after an awful time then we had a new manager. Wow what a change he has made, he is amazing, all staffing and nurses. It really is amazing the decoration is amazing and the staff are so much happier. :)

St Andrew's Nursing Home

from Kay C (Daughter of Resident) published on 19 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

Both my parents are in St Andrew's. Overall the care is good and the staff are kind to my parents. I think perhaps at times they are understaffed - takes a while for a bell to be answered. My main criticism would be the food. Whilst I understand the mass catering difficulties it's hard to hear my
dad say his food is cold when it reaches him. It's also strange that a curry is on the menu for residents which is to me a strange meal to offer elderly people! I'd like my parents to have more fruit which helps their nutrition. I'm grateful for the kind members of staff who look after my parents but with a few changes it could make the whole experience better. Thank you

Reply from Georgea Buckle, Operations Executive at St Andrew's Nursing Home

Thank you for your feedback. We're glad to hear your parents are receiving kind and caring support - that means a lot to us. We appreciate your honesty about the food and staffing concerns, and we'll make sure this is passed on to the team to look into improvements. Your thoughts on nutrition and meal choices are really helpful, and we're always aiming to make the experience better for our residents. Thank you again for sharing!

My father has recieved great service for his care and support as a resident in this home. He requires nursing support and the staff and team have been excellent at meeting his individual needs. The commmunication with the medical staff and my family provides us with peace if mind. Myself and my siblings
live away from the local area and so we rely on the team at the care home to advocate for my dad's needs and keep him comfortable.
We chose this home becuase evey single member of staff aknowledged my family when we looked around the facilities, the care home manager asked us plenty of question about my dad and his individual needs etc,
Thank you to all the team for your continued hard work and support in keeping my dad safe.

from Paul Q (Guardian of Resident) published on 19 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I am the Deputy via the Court of Protection for my dear cousin who has lived at Allerton Park Care Centre for over two years. Sadly my cousin has Dementia and complex needs although I am pleased to say that the management and staff at Oakes Lane are first class.
As I live four hours away from Bradford,
life for me could be very difficult, but this isn't the case. I trust the staff at the Centre and know how well they look after my cousin. They are highly professional and care for my cousin with the utmost sympathy and kindness. Luckily, they are also first rate communicators and keep me informed constantly. Finally, despite my visits being difficult I am always made welcome by the staff, which is greatly appreciated.
I have no hesitation in awarding five stars to Allerton Park Care Centre.

My Mum is very happy and relaxed here, despite her dementia.
All the staff know her and make a fuss of her (and me! They all know my name and I get a brew when I visit!) From the reception to the cleaners, the chefs to the caters - all lovely. Like a second family!
All of her medical and personal
needs are more than met. The staff are all lovely, very respectful and have the patience of saints.
The food is good. She had been very poorly in hospital and lost a lot of weight but she soon regained it here.
Her room is nice and the whole place is very clean. The lounge area is a nice space where the residents watch TV together.
There are regular activities, parties and celebrations with both in-house games and films and outdoor singers and entertainers.
A few months ago Mum was in hospital with a chest infection and this time cemented my feelings about Pemberton Fold. Whilst the care was excellent I constantly just wished she was back there, for the TLC they provide.

Cornwall Park

from C C (Daughter of Resident) published on 7 March 2025

Mum was admitted to Cornwall Park after a crisis and we have been nothing short of grateful for the excellent care she is receiving. We were immediately struck by the calm and caring ethos when we first visited and this started at our first point of contact with the manager. Staff at all levels, are
kind, respectful, patient and pay attention to detail. Of course, it took some weeks for Mum to settle (not helped by the fact that she is visually impaired) but we were reassured by the effort made to help her e.g. moving rooms to a quieter area and immediate communication if there were concerns. It is a huge relief to know that Mum is safe and well cared for.
My lower rating for 'value for money' is based on the fact that self-funded full-time care costs are absurdly high where ever, so this is not directed specifically to Cornwall Park.

The overall care given is very good, and the patients are well looked after for health problems. We are kept informed on any problems with health issues and doctors called if required. There is no way she could be by herself, so the home is a good place for her.

Mum has lived at Heatly Green for 3 years. The carers and staff are so caring. Mum enjoys living there. She says the food is lovely and the staff are lovely and kind. Any issues raised are listened to and acted upon quickly.

I would not recommend this care home at all! It is a disgrace. Don't send loved ones here.

We as a family felt that although staff were friendly enough, there was a distinct lack of professional care and communication. The staff don't seem to be properly trained or organized in their duties. My mum was only here for a week for an assessment but we had to move her as we felt strongly as a
family we couldn't leave her here. We were particularly concerned for her safety and wellbeing and that her care plan wasn't being followed properly. Elderly and suffering from Alzheimer's she is very vulnerable and we didn't feel reassured about her care at all.
