I visited my Brother for a few hours on the 29th of December 2024. This was my first visit. Due to building works it was a little bit unclear how to access the building. Apart from the building works I was very impressed with all aspects of the care provided. One of the senior nurses had related my
Brother to a quieter room which was greatly appreciated. There was also lots of positive interaction between the staff and my brother. Generally, the staff was very helpful. Overall there was a very positive atmosphere in the home and a clear sense that residents were well looked after.

When I was told that my wife was to be discharged from hospital to a care home, I felt uncomfortable as I felt I was able to care for my wife at home with the help of visiting carers, I could not have been more wrong. My wife has a pressure sore on the sacrum which appeared in September (now December)
before her hospital stay. She requires 24 hour care, regular turning which she has in the home and a nurse on standby which she has. To enable the sore to heal she also requires a special diet which she gets and at the last the sore is healing due entirely to the staff. Everyone from the cleaners, carers, kitchen staff, nurses and management are so friendly, always engaging and smiling, They treat my wife and myself impeccably.

Lately, staff shortages are acutely observed. This leads to inadequate care and support for the resident. Existing staff try their best but this may not be sufficient at all times.
The care home is currently going through a major refurbishment but the staff quarters aren't included in this. By staff
I mean the people who actually provide the service and look after the residents.

I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude for this lovely home. My husband spent his last six months there, he was happy and well looked after. From personal care to the meals and activities everything was of the highest standards. Their units are well designed for mobile residents who can
walk along the corridors, stretch their legs, communicate with other residents, and feel free, and feel like they are in their own homes. The friendly staff goes the extra mile to provide a very high professional care and person centred approach to all their residents. I have been visiting this home every day at different times and have seen the residents clean, happy, and entertained. From our previous experiences at the other care homes in Reading (as short stays) the River View is the best home because they really do understand the needs of people with dementia. All this makes this home safe and comfortable. A very special thanks to the Kingfisher unit staff for looking after our loved ones.

The staff are always friendly and look after my partner (room 51). He seems ok, although he does have his ups and downs when I visit with memory. He seems to be eating ok.

I am not at all unhappy with the treatment I have received since coming to the Windmill. Sometimes there have been problems but they have always been taken care of by the staff professionally. I know that any further treatment will be carried out in the same way. Thank you Windmill.

My wife has been a resident in River View Care Centre for two years now. The care that she has received from all the staff has been wonderful and often exceeds my expectations. I am aware that I have been a difficult family visitor on occasions but the staff have always treated me in a kind and professional
manner.

My grandadgy was well looked after in the care home. The staff supported him very well. He died a peaceful death in the presence of my mother, there was nothing the staff would not do for him within their capabilities. Staff were taking their time when supporting while eating and drinking. The staff
were very patient, understanding and supportive. Thank you for a good job.

Our mother has been living at Riverview Tilehurst for more than six months. We are self-funding which is why we looked at private care homes, much more expensive. What is the most important question you need to ask all homes, what happens when self-funding dries up? Most told us they would not accept
state payments.
With Riverview and two other care homes associated with Reading Borough council which did not suit us, all will accept the state funding when my mother's money runs out which is so important.
We are so fortunate to have chosen Riverview. Friendly carers, nurses, and management. Mum is now happy there and considers it her home. At lunch times we were offered if we wanted to stay and eat with her, and always made us welcome. Please do not listen to those who say a friend of a friend said such and such.
Thank you to all the carers, staff, and management who are looking after our mum, we are so fortunate to place her at Riverview Tilehurst, Reading.

My grandfather has been in the home 16 months now and despite him being given a diagnosis of 6 months, the staff and home have given him superb care. I have to say the communication has been superb and I really have to mention the deputy manager who at every stage keeps me updated with progress. The
staff are welcoming and friendly, it's really like an extension of family. Thanks.

I like the staff because they are friendly and most of them listen. They respect my choices and treat me with dignity. The food is okay however I like spicy foods and West African types of meals. Staff come to my room and chat with me whilst delivering care and we have laughs. I feel like I'm in my
own home.
