My husband was in respite care for 5 weeks in Allingham and we were very pleased and appreciative of the care he received there.
I was undergoing a hip replacement so was unable to care for him. He has dementia and found it difficult to converse with the other residents but I believe the staff encouraged
him and he took part in various activities thanks to their attention and encouragement. I think he also attended a Church service there on one occasion which he enjoyed.
He was always well 'turned out' when we visited and walking down the corridor to his room or to the Dining room helped to keep him mobile as well as the exercises.

My mother spent the last 3 years of her life at Manorhey and sadly passed last week.
The care she received at Manorhey throughout her whole time there was excellent.
My mum didn't really leave her room or mix in any of the communal areas, so I didn't really have contact with much of the home or
activities. That said, staff worked hard to encourage her to access what was offered.
The staff were always friendly and compassionate.
During my mum's end of life care, the staff looked after us (my brother and I) with such care. Nothing was too much trouble.

Reply from Katrina Hay, Regional Director at Manorhey Care Centre

Thank you so much for taking the time out to review Manorhey, especially during such a difficult time for yourself and Brother. Mum truly was a pleasure, and I am delighted to hear that the care she received including the compassion shown to yourselves was to such a high standard. Reviews like this go a very long way in helping other family members/loved ones when requiring full-time care for a family member, so again, thank you. Mum is sadly missed by all that knew and cared for her. I wish yourself and your Brother a very happy and healthy future.

My dear Mum passed away at Manorhey Care Centre on Friday 7th February 2025. She had been a resident there for very nearly three years. In all of that time, Mum had become well-known to very many of the team there, including nurses, carers, domestics, reception staff, and managers. I can say without
a doubt that Mum experienced nothing but kindness, gentleness and compassion from everyone she encountered. I visited as often as I could. My sister visited too. On every visit, we could see that Manorhey Care Centre had been a good choice for Mum's ongoing care. It is a lovely establishment and we are grateful for the loving care Mum received there. The facilities are all of high quality. Residents' rooms are comfortable and spacious and kept clean and heated. But, it is the quality of the staff working at Manorhey Care Centre that, I believe, sets it head-and-shoulders above others. Everyone I met during my many visits showed so much love and kindness to Mum. I cannot thank them enough.

Reply from Katrina Hay, Regional Director at Manorhey Care Centre

Thank you so much for taking the time to review Manorhey, especially during such a difficult period, and thank you for your very nice positive comments, this really goes a long way in helping others when deciding on a care home for a loved one. Your Mother truly was a pleasure and is missed by so many. Wishing yourselves and family good health and happiness for the future.

My dad was in this home from 2022 until his passing June 2024. The care he received wasn't good at all. We felt like he was just another number that needed sorting out with his daily chores i.e. changing, feeding etc. No compassion for my dad as a human being. Thank god as a family we could go to see
him most days but felt very sad for the residents that didn't have many family visits. I could go on and on with the treatment my dad had here in this place but it only starts to upset me when I have to think about it and what he should never have gone through.

I can't recommend Allingham House enough. Although similarly to most care homes staff were overstretched, they were just wonderful with my dad and did their best under the circumstances. The staff took time to understand my Dad's individual needs and provided personalised care. My dad had a high need
for social interaction and several members of staff spent time chatting with him and helped him to call me from his mobile when he was struggling. The staff took time to help my dad continue doing what was important to him despite his deteriorating due to his illness: they helped him play the piano and go on the adapted exercise bike each day to maintain his fitness. They even took him to a different home to join in with a carol service so he could have a change of scenery and more social contact. They went to such an effort to get him to eat when his appetite failed offering different foods, considering the best portion sizes and patiently encouraging him without being forceful.

In the few months that my sister was a resident at Manorhey Care Centre she received the best of care from all the staff and was able to develop good relationships with everyone who looked after her. I always felt when I was there that this was such a kind and caring place. Certainly everyone with whom
I had any dealings was unfailingly friendly and helpful. Within her physical limitations my sister was able to participate in some of the wide range of activities that the home provided each month. Whenever there were any problems with her health I would always be kept informed, and it was a huge comfort for me to know that everything that could be done for my sister was being done.Thank you to all at Manorhey for being there for my sister during what were to prove the last few months of her life.

I visit my sister regularly and she is constantly telling me that the staff are really helpful and friendly. They also know her and can meet her needs well. Today we have had a lovely, special Christmas dinner in the care home. A great initiative led by the fabulous lifestyle coordinator! A lot of hard
work but truly appreciated. Generally, the care home appears more organised and certainly more welcoming to relatives. Thank you and well done!

My cousin is pretty helpless and bedridden yet she is cared for with great kindness, conscientiousness and with real interest in the lively lady my cousin once was. The care staff, from the home manager down, are cheerful, friendly and welcoming. This is much appreciated as we have to travel some 90
miles to see my cousin.

I only have praise for Manorhey. This care home was my mum's home for 14 years until she sadly passed away in August this year. Mum was happy here where she developed a fantastic relationship and rapport with the lovely staff who looked after and cared for her throughout the years. Mum loved the entertainment
that was on each week and the activities provided from bingo to baking and she loved having her hair done every Thursday by the hairdresser. As for the care provided by the lovely staff it was given in Mum's best interests and with dignity for her which as a family is what you would expect for a loved one, even at times when Mum was poorly, they would phone me and keep me updated on how she was doing until she was back to her old self again. I would like to finish my review by thanking all the staff for looking after my beloved Mum and that I will miss you all. To anyone looking for a care home for their loved one, you will not be disappointed by choosing Manorhey Care Centre.

Reply from Natalie Kavanagh, Home Manager at Manorhey Care Centre

Thank you for your very kind review, it was a pleasure to care for Mum for 14 years, and she will remain sadly missed by all. It is always nice to hear such positive feedback, as this also goes a long way in helping other families like yourself who find themselves in a very difficult position when it comes to choosing full-time care for a loved one. The whole process can be quite daunting, so reading comments like yours instils confidence and trust in families, which is a very emotional journey. Here at Manorhey, we wish yourself and family a happy and healthy future, and please continue to be a visitor to our special days held all throughout the year such as Christmas and summer fayres.

Mum came to Manorhey from hospital for EOL care. She has always been a very scared and worried lady. She was anxious in hospital; however, since arriving she's been very settled and calm. She has been singing and smiling and the staff all know her so well. She's been very well cared for. Each member
of staff know her likes and dislikes. They enter her room every 2 hours, they reposition her and check her comfort is maximized. Mum doesn't eat, it's part of her EOL pathway and I'm glad that staff do not push her too much. This wouldn't be good for Mum's wellbeing. Initially, some did think it important for her to eat which was challenging for me. Overall, I cannot thank all (every single one) from the staff member at reception to the cleaners and all those in-between, enough.

Reply from Natalie Kavanagh, Home Manager at Manorhey Care Centre

Thank you so much for your very positive review. I am so pleased to hear that the staff are attentive to Mum's needs and wishes, including your own, thank you so much for choosing Manorhey for Mum's palliative care. We will continue to ensure that her care is both dignified and inclusive of her personal choice at such a crucial time in Mum's pathway journey, and glad we are able to support you both at this time.

Handful of staff are aware of what dignity is. Majority show compassion, agency staff seem to be on the rise. Safety precautions need to be implemented cleanliness of residents need to be increased i.e hand hygiene.

Reply from Katrina, Regional Director at Manorhey Care Centre

Thank you so much for your review. I am so sorry that you have experienced some negativity, and we would welcome you to discuss this further with the Home Manager allowing us the opportunity to investigate what aspects of dignity and hygiene you are mostly concerned with. Manorhey operates discharge to assess for a small percentage of patients discharged from Hospital for the council, some of which require one-to-one care, the council operates the use of agency staff for these patients sourced by and funded directly by themselves. This will be the reason you have notably identified agency staff on the premises for this purpose only, as Manorhey prides itself on a zero agency use policy and has sustained this standard for a significant length of time. Thank you so much for taking the time to review Manorhey and for your positive comments and star ratings. Please do contact us when convenient, and I am confident these concerns raised can be resolved. Thank you in advance.

My mum went into Manorhey a few years ago, which was a very hard decision for the family to make, the home made Mum and us so welcome and I can honestly say we are happy and Mum is doing great. The staff are so lovely and the staff have done amazing things with the dementia residents and all the other
residents going above and beyond. Mother's Day was so lovely as they arranged for us to go for a pub lunch and we made so many memories to cherish. The home ring you every month to see if you are happy with the care which is great, I can't thank the staff enough for looking after my mum, thank you with all my heart.

Mum was referred on assessment from the hospital due to her dementia. The staff were brilliant with Mum, and as her dementia deteriorated, she became a permanent resident. Mum enjoys the activities and day trips the staff provide. The nursing staff are wonderful with Mum, as she does not like her personal
care being done. My dad visits her most days, and the staff are great with him. The facilities and rooms are lovely. The friendly receptionists and admin team are very helpful. Highly recommend this care home.

My husband could not talk or walk. 10th May seen bruising to his right eye, 12th May emailed the photos to the manager in Leeds. 13th May Home Manager and Regional Director both unhappy I sent photos to Leeds, both said they could not see bruising, Regional Manager asked if I wanted to move my husband
to another care home. My reply to her, my husband is not the problem, they had investigated the outcome, he had bruising to his eye and they think he did it to himself with a soft toy Elephant Babies. My review for staff doesn't reflect all staff, some excellent, some good and poor.
