Riverdale Care Home

from Julia S (Daughter of Resident) published on 11 April 2025

I have nothing but praise for every member of the team at Riverdale Care home. Mum was a resident there for nearly 5 months until her passing recently. The care she has received has been exemplary and she was shown kindness, compassion, respect and love during all her time at the home. Putting a loved
one with dementia into a care home is not an easy decision and one which we as a family had no choice but to make but I can honestly say from the day she went in our mum was treated with the utmost respect and kindness.
Every time we visited we were also made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for any of the team members.
When mum passed away she was treated with dignity and was never left alone.
Riverdale truly felt as if it was mums own home and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone needing to find a care home for their loved one.

The care home is extremely clean and the cleaners are friendly and do a fantastic job.
The receptionist always greets you with a smile and will also help in anyway she can.
The carers always respects the residents privacy and puts them first but most of all they are so gentle, caring and have a good
understanding of everyone's needs. The management always makes time to walks around talking to the residents listening to them.

The food is freshly made every day and if you want something different that's not on the menu they will always cook it for them. They do arts, trips to the shops, have bands and other performing acts on, coffee mornings to raise money for charity. I would highly recommend.

My mum is very well looked after and we are very happy with the care she receives. Although security is very important, sometimes we find it difficult to get in and out of the nursing home. My mum has a room downstairs and sometimes, although we know staff are always busy. We struggle to get out of
the security door and when upstairs we have to wait to get out of the main door.

Chatsworth Lodge Care Home

There is always a warm and friendly welcome when I visit a friend at this home. Residents can stay in their rooms if they wish or be with others in the sitting room or conservatory which overlooks the garden. There is a good mix of activities for those who wish to join in. Management and staff do their
very best for everyone. Carers are always busy looking after someone. So the only negative is that my friend sometimes has to wait for them to answer her requests for the toilet when she needs it.
All in all a lovely atmosphere at this home.

Mum only moved into the home on 16th December 2024. She seems to have settled well. The room is spacious and clean (bedroom). Staff have been helpful and welcoming. The care home is clean, tastefully decorated and a welcoming environment.

The care and attention is excellent. The staff are friendly and approachable, nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent and always a choice. Residents are treated with dignity. There is always a range of activities where residents can be involved as much as they want. We have no worries about
the care my mother receives.

My sister was a resident of Chatsworth Lodge Care Home for two years. Throughout that time, she was treated with care, dignity and respect. Although her initial reaction to going into a care home was one of the great reluctance, she was made to feel welcome, safe and secure. She often said she loved
being there and the entire family are grateful for the dedicated care she received in her time in the home, many thanks.

Chatsworth Lodge Care Home

from C B (Daughter of Resident) published on 28 November 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5

Neglected my dad after being in respite, my dad was not showered or bathed for a month. My dad had a water infection the first week and was treated twice but not administered antibiotics correctly and completely. I had to alert the managers three times about my dad's urine being dark. They ignored my
concerns and made excuses to why they couldn't get a water sample I got the sample twice myself. With delays in his care needs and basic fluids my dad came home and had emergency care ambulance for dehydration and check for sepsis. My dads dementia has deteriorated and delirium has been ongoing since. Stay was from September 17th until 7th November. Paracetamol wasn't given when clearly unwell. GP prescribed it, they wouldn't give it because dad's temperature had come down after I gave him my paracetamol, and the same day the GP prescribed them. They just didn't seem concerned at all. Poor medication administration and lack of consistency with care. Food poor, no fruit, small portions.

Riverdale Care Home

from P G (Wife of Resident) published on 25 November 2024

The Unit Manager invited me to Riverdale to review my husband's care plan. I was very pleased with the thoroughness of the review and how well she knew my husband. I was able to cover a small number of concerns I had and the care plan was updated accordingly. I went to see my husband immediately afterward
and saw some of the updates being put into action.
I was pleased to hear about their plans to introduce new activities and I met the new activities leader.
There has been a big improvement in my husband's care over the past 12 months owing to the positive changes the new management has driven forward.

This was Mum's first experience of respite care which was on the whole pretty good. The care home manager was brilliant in welcoming Mum and was always willing to answer any questions. The staff were mostly friendly, my only issue was it sometimes took a while to take Mum to the toilet when she needed
it but I understand that there were lots of other residents to look after too. Overall a good experience.

All staff are amazing and give a good standard of care to all residents. Good recreation and activities are available. Recent improvement in good communication and involvement in care for relatives is fantastic. I can't thank everyone enough for the care of Mum, it puts my mind at ease that she is so
well looked after and her best interests are taken care of when she is now unable to do these things for herself. Many, many thanks.

First impressions count and from when I first viewed the home I was not disappointed. It's always been my Mum's worst nightmare to go into a home but she's brighter, no longer lonely, joins in or watches activities, and has even been taken out to the local supermarket shopping. The rooms are bright,
the lounge is arranged with groups of seating areas (not in one big circle) and the conservatory and garden are a bonus. The best compliment is to all the staff simply amazing. Nothing is too much trouble - definitely the home's best asset.

My partner had respite care in Chatsworth Lodge. I was impressed with all the staff. They had the residents care all the time which is brilliant. He enjoyed all the activities which were well organised. He loved the food and snacks. He said he felt at home and he settled down well.

The care home is managed with a professional and good approach supported by a care team of dedicated carers with a variety of responsibilities - from cleaning, cooking, medical, and general daily tasks.
These are all undertaken with a focus on my Mum's dignity and overall care, with an additional sense
of humour, respect, and genuine care for her best interests.
I feel confident that the staff cares for Mum with 100% commitment and that she is settled and well looked after despite her dementia deterioration.

Eckington Court Nursing Home

from S H (Daughter of Resident) published on 23 May 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

Dad has been here over 4 years.
Care staff are polite, hard working and patient.
They are appropriately affectionate with residents and chat and engage with them.
Staff contact doctors if necessary and always update me if dad isn't well or has had a fall.
Dad enjoys the meals, which are usually
cooked from scratch. Buns, cakes and desserts are freshly made.
The activities coordinator works hard to put on a range of activities to entertain and stimulate residents.
The home encourage us to attend family meetings and welcome our suggestions.
Dad is grateful for the care he receives and it is reassuring to see that staff are fond of him.
