My brother is being cared for at this location. I live outside of the country and flew over to visit my brother for one week. Being there ever day, I was impressed by the professionalism of the staff and level of care and attention my brother received.
The management and administration were very
open and communicated well. They gave clear and understandable plans for my brother's care. And made extra efforts with regard to continuing communication due to the fact that I live abroad.
I was very impressed with the location and staff and feel very comfortable that my brother is being well cared for.

Reply from Paulina Drzewiecka, Middleton Park Lodge Manager at Middleton Park Lodge Nursing Home

We are extremely proud that we could look after your brother in such a difficult time for him. We are also happy that your visits were pleasant and you back to Florida knowing that your brother is well looked after.

Staff are always happy to help, they take exceptional care and support, with my dad. Always reassuring him about his concerns, and mine. I've seen my dad go from strength to strength over the past month, and this is down to the care he receives from all the staff involved with his care. The management

I visited my mother-in-law today at Nesfield Lodge and joined in the karaoke afternoon. She arrived on Wednesday, so this was a first for both of us. It was a truly joyful experience. Watching the staff engage with the residents was wonderful. Watching the residents engage with the music and sing was
very touching. Every member of staff I spoke to was very kind and made me feel welcome and very confident about her being there.
The staff singing on the karaoke were really good and made a fantastic afternoon's entertainment. Well done team.

Castleford Lodge Nursing Home

from Saskia P (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 29 January 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My grandma is a resident here and I am beyond happy with the care both she receives. The staff are attentive to her needs beyond basic care. They make sure she is socially integrated with other residents through planned activities. My grandma was very against going into a home but now she is there she
is happy and thriving compared to her life before she was placed here.
I have experience dealing with a few homes and this is by far the best I've found for my grans care needs, and my own peace of mind. I am so grateful for everything Orchard and the staff here do for my gran and I - I'd recommend this home to anyone.

Reply from Sarah Golden-Hill, Home Manager at Castleford Lodge Nursing Home

Saskia, thank you for the very kind words about Castleford Lodge it is great to hear that your grandma has settled in well and that she feels that this was the right move for her at the time that she needed the support. I have read that your grandma is receiving social interaction which is an important part of daily living. To read that the staff here at the home are attentive is something that I will be passing on to them. Again thank you for taking the time to review the home.

from Richard W (Friend of Resident) published on 28 January 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My friend has been a resident here for a few months and I generally visit him weekly for a couple of hours.
No matter what day or time I arrive, I can get parked and receive a very warm welcome with offer of any help.
His room is private, comfortable and spacious.
He compliments the food and looks
well nourished with a healthy look.
He is always dressed well and very clean, and most importantly he is happy.
There is lots of entertainment on offer and fun things taking place.
Everyone is well seen to and have all they need.
The place is spotless, fresh smelling and good atmosphere.
As for all the staff - brilliant! friendly, available, attentive, professional and very helpful !! Nothing is ever too much.
It's run like clockwork and everyone is busy in a silent, seamless, stressless way - things just get done with little noise and disruption.
I hope I receive this level of care if and whenever I may need it.
Thanks for looking after my friend and all the others!!

My mum has settled in really well at Castleford Lodge. I asked my mum what she liked about the care home, her words are, they treat me like a person, nothing is too much trouble, the food is good and I feel safe.
A lot of time effort and care is given, by all staff in making sure that all residents
needs are catered for. Lots of fun, great atmosphere, plenty of interaction from staff with residents and their families.
The management teams, door is always open to discuss any issues or queries. There is a proactive professional approach, to take on board any suggestions and to maintain a good working relationship with families of residents.
It's a difficult time, when a family has to put a family member into full time care. I can't thank Castleford Lodge enough, for all the help and support I have received from all the team. When I go home from visiting my mum, I feel confident leaving her in a safe environment, which is now her home.

Review of

Lofthouse Grange & Lodge Care Home

from Kay T (Daughter of Resident) published on 8 November 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I have previously reviewed this care home, however following my Dad's death, I feel the need to do so again.
The love, kindness and excellent care given during Dad's 3 years of living in the dementia unit were second to none. There were some challenges during that time with Dad's behaviour. The team
worked alongside outside agencies to ensure that these were managed in both Dad's and other residents best interests.
The team knew his interests and his favourite song and encouraged him to participate in the numerous activities as long as he was able.
In his final days, the compassion and support we received were exceptional and he couldn't have been cared for better. We were so lucky that Dad lived in such a fantastic environment and was able to die there surrounded by people who cared.
When he died, with no input from us, he was dressed in a shirt and tie just as he would have wanted. The feedback we received, not from Lofthouse staff, was that he looked very smart.

Review of

Castleford Lodge Nursing Home

from C W (Relative of Resident) published on 21 October 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5

Mum was moved here and from the beginning was assaulted on a regular basis. Many little incidents such as being bitten kicked and pushed over. She's blind and deaf but mobile. Caregivers were lovely but the manager etc couldn't wait to pass the buck. Apparently, it was mum's fault that the other residents
were assaulting her. She seemed to be in permanent fear for her life. The homes' suggestion was mum pay extra for a 24-hour carer to keep her safe instead of the assaulter having to pay to protect others from her. Her next home was fantastic, worth every penny.

Reply from sarah Golden-Hill, Manager at Castleford Lodge Nursing Home

Thank you for your review for Castleford Lodge Nursing Home. I am sorry that the experience that both you and your mother had while she was staying at the home was not an enjoyable one. Following your mum's stay the home has a new manager in post and is focused on ensuring that the people that are living at Castleford are safe as well as looked after with a high equality of care, dignity and respect being delivered. The home also is focused on ensuring that the people in the home are involved in activities that have a person-centred approach. New activities are in place and regular resident and relative meetings now take place once a month allowing people to have their say on what they wish to be achieving while living in the environment. The new manager has an open door policy and welcomes families to come and discuss concerns that they may have as well as positive feedback

Mum was in Lofthouse Grange for 13 months, she was 94 years old when she first went into the home. She was very active and joined in all the activities and made friends with the other residents. For the last 3 months, Mum was on end-of-life care. All the staff and management team have been wonderful
during this time. I cannot fault the care she received. They treated her with dignity, respect, love and kindness. The care and attention when she became bedbound was marvellous. They were also a massive support for us, her family. While we visited her every day, knowing she was well cared for when we weren't there was priceless. Thank you for your help and support during her last weeks and days of life.
