My husband had been in the good care of the staff at the Cedars for a few years and they always strive to provide good care and support with occasional events for residents and relatives to enjoy, at seasonal times such as Easter, Christmas, Bonfire night and especially Birthdays of the residents, great
staff and a good situation

After a brief stay in hospital last summer following a second stroke, my brother went to The Cedars Care Home in Methley (Leeds) to recover, whilst his general health/medical condition was assessed After a 6-month stay, he has now been able to move on to a new "extra care" facility in Beeston, (Leeds)
where he has his own apartment and can start to rebuild his life as he wants, whilst still having support around him if needed.
Whilst at The Cedars, he made a number of friends amongst the staff who took the time out to make him feel wanted and cared for, Indeed when he left, they presented him with a leaving hamper for his new home - what a lovely gesture ! Fortunately, at his new home the care management facility is still being provided by Westward Care, so he will still hopefully be able to keep in touch with at least some of the staff he got to know at The Cedars and here all the gossip !
A big thank-you to everyone at The Cedars for looking after my brother so well !

Reply from Lisa Jones, Manager at The Cedars

Thank you for your kind comments. We are delighted to hear that you and your brother found the experience at Cedar's a positive one. Best wishes

My mum has recently moved into Southlands- a huge move having lived in her previous home for 50 years. The sales manager was extremely helpful, patient and understanding, reducing our stress and going out of her way to provide information and help keep our purchase progressing.
My mum has been made
very welcome by both staff and fellow residents and for the first time in many months I feel she is safe and well cared for. Southlands has a busy programme of activities and it has been great to see my mum getting involved and keeping busy.

Headingley Hall Care Home

I have found Headingley Hall care home to be excellent in many ways. There is ample parking and the grounds are attractive and well kept. It is secure with a good signing in and out procedure and I always receive a warm welcome from the reception desk. The carers are committed and I see their presence
in both the lounge and dining area. They are constantly ensuring that the residents are comfortable and give feedback to visitors. The senior staff communicate well with me and there are follow up calls to ensure that I am aware of any issues.
The meals are varied and of a good quality. They will provide small meals and snacks at a moments notice when asked. The rooms are light and airy and the facilities are clean and hygienic. I have recommended the care home to friends and colleagues.

My mum was at Pennington Court for almost 18 months before she passed away. She was well looked after by the staff and treated with kindness. As a family, we found the staff friendly and helpful, able to answer any questions we had, and address, if any, our concerns. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend
Pennington Court.

Southlands is not only a beautiful residence but the staff are very caring and friendly. The meals are kept in a beautiful state and my father is very happy here. He has lived here for nearly three years and loves it. The best decision I have ever made was to move my parents from another location (where
they lived for 70 years) to Southlands to be closer to me and the grandchildren.

My mother has been in Pennington Court for almost a year now. She is well cared for by all staff and any issues are dealt with in a timely fashion. She recently was taken ill and was adamant that she did not want to go to hospital. The staff did their utmost to avoid this and went above and beyond what
I would have expected. They kept a close eye on her and she was monitored via the 'virtual ward' at the home and kept me updated at all times.

After visiting a number of care homes we decided upon Cedars Care Home because we felt the staff here were very caring and gave us all the information we needed and this made us feel that our Mum would get the best care and attention. I dropped my Mum off here on Friday, it was a very upsetting situation
for me and our family with all sorts of feelings of guilt and sadness. But she seems to have settled really well and I think that this is down to the staff here, so fingers crossed she will be happy here.

My mother has been a resident since May 2023 in the dementia unit at Headingley Hall. This small friendly unit became her home and we became her family again instead of her full-time carers. The staff are professional, supportive and friendly with no restriction on visiting times. The entertainment
and stimulation are excellent for people living with dementia.
My mother returned to Headingley Hall in March 2024 after a 2-week stay in the hospital. The staff have gone above and beyond to settle her back into the Home with her increased care needs.
I have and will continue to recommend Headingley Hall to other families considering care homes.

The staff at Headingley Hall were all lovely and kind. This includes the care staff but also the kitchen staff and especially the reception staff, who were so kind and reassuring. Pennington Court Care Home

from J B (Daughter of Resident) published on 22 January 2024

My dad went here for respite in October but unfortunately fell and ended up in hospital after 3 days. The doctor in the hospital was unwilling for him to be discharged back to the home and kept him in hospital until I returned from my holiday. His condition deteriorated and he has now had to move into
permanent care which we had been trying to prevent. I had some initial concerns as the call button in his room didn’t work and there was no motion sensor in his room so the staff would know to assist him in the night but I was assured by the staff that wouldn’t be a problem. There was a mix-up over which room he was to go in and we had to move him from one to another. I passed on my concerns to the manager but she wasn’t really interested. I have also contacted one of the Senior Managers who was apologetic and sympathetic but I do regret placing my dad in there.

Reply from Paul Torrance, Operations Director at Pennington Court Care Home

I'm deeply sorry for the challenges your dad faced during his October respite at our home. We regret any distress caused. We take your concerns seriously, especially regarding the malfunctioning call button and the lack of a motion sensor. Our investigation aims to prevent such incidents.
We also regret the room allocation mix-up and the manager's lack of interest. We're rectifying communication issues to avoid similar oversights. Apologies for falling short of our service standards.
I appreciate your feedback with the Senior Manager. We're actively improving our processes and communication. Rest assured, corrective measures are in place.
Please be assured we have taken immediate steps to address your concerns.

Headingley Hall looked after my mum in the last year of her life. She passed away peacefully at the age of 92. She enjoyed the time she spent there and liked the company of her fellow residents. She had her own comfortable room with en suite facilities and television. The home had a regular programme
of activities and musical entertainment. There was a varied menu and meals were home-cooked to a very high standard. The staff dealt with issues in a caring and professional manner at all times. The home was attractively decorated and attention to cleanliness was evident at all times. The management and staff were always friendly and seemed focused on the best interests of the residents.

My Dad, after much deliberation, decided that it would be a good idea to do a trial stay at Southlands. He's a widower and has a few health and mobility issues and the house was becoming too big (and cold) for him. On coming home day, he was down in the dumps and quickly made the decision to make the
permanent move. The apartment is so tastefully decorated and furnished and as warm as he chooses it to be without having to worry about expensive bills. There are always people around if he wants to socialise, he has 3 meals a day prepared for him and he feels safe and secure knowing that there is a team of care staff on site is a real plus point for my sister and me. Everyone there is so friendly and caring, so my sister feels so reassured. The manager cannot do enough for us and has made the whole process so stress-free. Such an asset to Westward Care - we'll never forget how she made one of the most stressful periods in our lives, so much easier for us.

Booked my Dad in for a week's repsite on the 1st of October. Initially, he was upset and wanted to come home, but did eventually settle with the encouragement from the lovely staff, although Dad couldn't wait to come home he still talks fondly of the lovely staff who looked after him. The home is lovely

Pennington Court is superb. My nan has been here for nearly five years, and the care is phenomenal. The nurses and staff are so kind, and there are lots of familiar faces that have been there from the start. The food is good, and she's fed at regular intervals. She's turned at regular intervals, and
her care plan is constantly being updated. I'd recommend Pennington to anyone looking for a care/nursing home.
