Dad stayed at the home for palliative care for over 2 months and died there. most staff seemed amazing. but communication was rather poor in relation to me providing feedback to the home, the manager only reacted to the feedback rather than proactively meeting the family sooner. received a call saying
my dad passed away , 'now i will pass you over to someone else as it's the end of my shift,' which is not professional. was then asked if we wanted to see my dad. this could have been discussed with us before hand. feel the home could do a lot more to involve families in their patient's care. felt under pressure to see my dad on the day of his death.

Reply from David Mclean, Customer Service Adviser at Argyles Care Home

Thatcham Court Care Home

from Elizabeth P (Daughter of Resident) published on 10 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

For the past two years, our mother has been a resident here, and the care she has received has been nothing short of exceptional. Now, as we navigate the incredibly difficult journey of palliative care, we have found comfort and reassurance in the unwavering dedication of the entire team.
Every single
staff member has been exactly what we needed-compassionate, supportive, attentive, and highly skilled. Their diligence and professionalism shine through in every moment, yet it's their genuine kindness and warmth that have truly made all the difference. We have never had to question the level of care our mother has received-it has been outstanding from every department, every shift, every individual.
This experience has taught us that the small things really don't matter when the big things-dignity, respect, and love-are handled so beautifully. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to each and every one of you. Your work is truly invaluable.

I came to Bayford House from the hospital to stay until my house is sold, and I can move to more suitable accommodation. I have 'Parkinson's' which affects my legs. The food here is very good, lots of variety, but I like to eat much more fresh fruit and salads. Some exercise equipment would be useful,
pedals etc., and more yoga sessions which I miss. I do not like my bed, the wood rails hurt my legs when getting in and out, and the mattress is hard.

Bupa Parkside Care Home, there is not quite the right words for this home. The care provided from day one has been lovely. Since the day our nan arrived at the home following the loss of her partner has been very caring, to the latter stages of her life when she was in need to extra care and support
Nan took part in many activities within the home; always well thought through by the wonderful activities team. Nan often spoke about the butterfly buddies babies visiting, making various craft pieces and showing off her new nails and hair, even some lovely outings too (the pantomine and garden centres were sure a hit) Oh and we cant forget the visit from the lamas and the guide dogs. The carers were very attentive to the needs of nan; often understanding how she liked things to go The nursing staff were outstanding, providing amazing care for nan from the day she arrived. We cant forget to mention the reception staff, we are always welcomed with a warm one
Parkside - We cant thank you enough.
