Dovecote Lodge

from Tania P (Wife of Resident) published on 19 December 2023

My husband spent three weeks at Dovecote Lodge, while recovering from a hip fracture operation. I was visiting him most days. Each time I was impressed with the atmosphere at the Lodge. The staff were very friendly both to patients and myself, nothing was too much trouble. The place is run by a professional
team.
It was tidy and clean.
And it looked festive at his time of the year.
On behalf of my husband and myself, I wish those lovely people a very Merry Christmas and a happy healthy New Year.

My Mum had been a resident at the Flanshaw Lodge care home for approximately nine months until she sadly passed away. The care she received was exceptional. The staff were passionate, enthusiastic and were very professional in the way they cared for my mum. They provided a new mattress to help her near
the end to make her feel comfortable. They were so kind and caring towards her health care. I have never had any complaints and would definitely rate them highly in all aspects of care. I would highly recommend this care home for their compassion and enthusiasm. My mum had a wonderful time there and I am glad I found such a perfect home for her.

Flanshaw Lodge

My mum went to live at Flanshaw Lodge in May 2021 after her dementia had advanced to the point she could no longer stay at home. She spent the last 3 months of her life there. The staff are just amazing. All the team did so much to give my mum the best possible quality of life in her final months. She
entered Flanshaw on the assumption she would be nursed in bed for the rest of her life. We were astonished and delighted when she was able to leave her bed, using a special chair and hoist bought especially for her. The staff were incredibly kind to her, and also to my father who found it very difficult that mum was in a care home. COVID made visiting difficult but the staff was as accommodating as they safely and legally could be. Flanshaw Lodge is not the ‘poshest’ of care homes. But anyone thinking of placing their loved ones there should look beyond that. The care provided is exceptional, staff are kind, genuine and extremely caring.

Flanshaw Lodge

My Mum is a resident at Flanshaw Lodge. I would like to say how happy I am with the care and compassion my Mum has been given during her stay there. I realise that sometimes the hard work done by care staff goes unnoticed by the families of the residents. So I would like to put on record my appreciation
for all the hard work done by the staff at Flanshaw, especially in these difficult times of the pandemic. Organising visits and Covid testing must stretch resources to the limit. Mum and Dad have been married for over 70 years, and before Mum went into Flanshaw Lodge they had spent little time apart. So the visits provided are very important to them, and we are very grateful. It is, as you can imagine, the highlight of Dad’s week being able to visit Mum. Now that visits have increased to five per week it gives us hope that things will soon return to as they were before the first lockdown. So thank you to all the wonderful staff at Flanshaw and keep up the great work.

My Mum has been a resident in Flanshaw Lodge for a few years now and I felt it was only right and proper that I should give the staff the accolade that they so rightly deserve. I fully appreciate that this past year has been truly difficult for everyone, with individuals all having their own personal
and private mountains to climb. However, it is so important to share how every member of the team at Flanshaw Lodge have pulled together and ensured, that in spite of repeated and changing limitations, have gone above and beyond to care for all the residents, while also remembering the emotional needs of their relatives. In addition, indoor visits can now be facilitated and are done with willingness and a happy smile. The staff have adopted a holistic approach from the get-go, tackling each new hurdle with a positive 'can do' attitude, while remembering that the extended family of the residents may also be struggling and being observant of the need for them too to be supported!

Dad was discharged from a long stay in hospital. He was taken to Dovecote for a few days while carers were put in place for his return home. Dad was so happy with his stay and couldn't praise staff enough. The care was 100% and the food delicious, the carers were amazing. He's now home feeling a lot
happier, thanks to the staff you are all angels and very much appreciated. Thank you.

My 90 yr old mum, left hospital and was transferred to Dovecote Lodge. At the time I never thought we would get her home again she was so frail and unwell. After 14 days isolation due to covid I have today been able to see her. The difference in her health and well-being is almost unrecognisable, she
is just about back to her normal self. The care and attention she has received from the wonderful staff is second to none and is a huge contributing factor to how well she is doing. We are looking at getting her back into her own home within the next few days and she is over the moon about this.
There aren't enough words to express our thanks and gratitude to all the wonderful staff who have cared for her. Nurses, carers, domestic staff and the people who have cooked her lovely meals you are all heroes, and do an amazing job, even in these difficult times. Sending love to you all. Stay safe, and THANK YOU.

I would like to acknowledge the hard work of all staff and care given to my mum, especially given the current difficult circumstances. We have been able to enjoy outside visits for the last few weeks and have just recently celebrated Mum's birthday, they made it special by decorating the gazebo with
banners and balloons, many thanks. I understand how hard the current situation is having myself worked in a care setting, once again thank you and I would absolutely recommend to anyone having to place their loved one in a care home from a grateful daughter.

For his own safety my dad was 'admitted' to Flanshaw Lodge as his dementia meant he had started to wander during the night etc. It is always a 'last resort' to see your loved one 'in a home'. Whilst initially upsetting the family could see from the outset that the staff were as caring as could be
and my dad was in good hands. He was a resident for just short of three years and I can safely say that I would definitely recommend this home to anyone. Right till the end he was treated with dignity and respect and I am eternally thankful for everything the home did.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
