Maes y Bryn

The staff at Maes Y Bryn are incredibly caring and loving. They show great respect and empathy towards my mother and treat her with dignity. The home appears to be a very friendly and happy place and nothing is too much trouble for any member of the team. My father and I visit regularly and we always
receive a warm and friendly welcome. My mother was very unwell recently and we had to prepare for the worst but, with the exceptional care she received at Maes Y Bryn, my mother is now in good health. We are always kept up to date and informed of any changes in Mum’s condition and if my mum does become unwell, this is acted upon immediately.

I am so happy with the care my mother is receiving here. Excellent, friendly, and helpful staff, my mother loves them! Communication between myself and the staff and management is excellent. Safety for the residents is obvious at all times, their safety is paramount.
I am positive that my mother would
not be able to get better care anywhere.
A ten out of ten for me.

I cannot rate Highfield Residential & Dementia Care Home highly enough. My lovely father was here for 9 months, and the care he was given was truly outstanding. The manager and her team were amazing to my father; he was given total respect and care at all times. My mother and I were happy with the care
he was shown, and since he passed, it's given us great comfort to know that in the last months of his life, we knew he was safe, respected and cared for. My mother and I were also shown the same respect and kindness when visiting; we were grateful for that too. It was always beautifully clean, and the food was lovely. I would highly recommend Highfield Residential & Dementia Care Home to anyone.

My mum is receiving excellent care. The staff are professional and very supportive. My only concern is the amount of weight my mother has lost. I feel that the staff should have talked more to me about this and earlier on in her care. Other than that, I'm very happy and grateful for the work of Maes
y Bryn in Port Talbot.

Whilst my recent experience is limited due to the Covid pandemic I can state the following.
My aunt appears to be happy and contented. The home has kept us up to date with her welfare e.g when she has been ill etc. My overall impression is that my aunt is well cared for.

All the staff are friendly, helpful and informative. Very caring towards my husband who is in the advanced stage of vascular dementia.
Due to the pandemic, I have been unable to see the facilities of the home ie: the dining room, sitting room etc. Also not aware of the activities on offer, but this
month a regular newsletter has started which is really good for keeping relatives up to date with what is going on in the home.

Highfield Residential & Dementia Care Home

from Pamela F (Stepdaughter of Resident) published on 2 August 2021

My stepmother has been treated with kindness and respect. The staff have done their utmost to help her cope with some difficult physical problems and, although her dementia is still relatively mild, they manage to stay cheery and positive. Policies during Covid have meant residents have been kept as
safe as possible, and continue to be so.

Highfield Residential & Dementia Care Home

from Megan J (Daughter of Resident) published on 30 June 2021
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mum now has a home at Highfield's and I say that very deliberately, it is her home not a home. The building is in the style of an older large house and not too large, small enough to feel like a home. Mum has multi dementia and no longer recognises family, time or place or even her beloved dog. She
has other medical conditions that need medication and monitoring. Not only does the team at Highfield take excellent care of her physical well-being, they offer loving care in every way. Whilst mostly placid she can become anxious and fretful, they calm and distract her halting escalation so well. Even getting a little toy dog that looks just like her dog for her to cuddle and soothe her. Also getting some special dolls that she looks after, the attention to individual personalised care is amazing. My mum is now part of their family and cared for better than we were becoming able to. The comfort and relief of knowing she is safe and so very well cared for is immeasurable.

The White House Residential Home

from Josephine H (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 June 2021
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My late mother was a resident at the White House. I always found the staff very friendly and accommodating. The care they provided to my Mum was excellent. They should be commended for all the hard work they undertake. Providing care and support to all the residents and family members alike. When my
mother was at the end of her life, the staff not only took care of her, but gave me the support I needed at such a difficult time. The manager runs the home to a high standard and is very approachable, friendly, supportive and very helpful. The home always smelled clean and my mum's room was spotless, as was the rest of the care home. The staff worked hard and I observed, very well as a team and supportive of one another but the most important thing I noticed, was the care and attention they gave to the residents and always treated them with respect and dignity. My mum loved the home-cooked food and especially enjoyed the fish and chips. The staff deserve recognition for all they do.
