My Mum, and Father prior too, have lived at Beverley Parklands for several years now and overall we have been delighted with the care provided to both. Mum is now in The Haven, and it was a very difficult decision to move her to this floor, but we were fully supported by the staff and given plenty
of time to make an informed decision. Mum is very happy in her own world in The Haven and the staff like and support her very well. There have been some 'human' errors over the last couple of years, but these have all been discussed and sorted out to a satisfactory level. It is a huge relief to know that Mum is very well looked after and safe in her own environment. She very much enjoyed the Choir when I last visited and I know that she is encouraged to join in other activities. The staff are lovely, very open and honest and keep us updated with any issues which arise. They do work very closely with families and will help in any way they can.

Reply from Alison Attree, Experience Coordinator at Beverley Parklands Care Home

Thank you for your review Carol, we are honoured to have cared for your father and now your Mum. We appreciate your kind words - it's hugely treasured by the whole team.

Mere Hall Care Home

from Simon T (Son of Resident) published on 10 April 2025

This Care home is excellent. It is well staffed and well managed. The food is good. It caters well for residents who have various stages of Dementia and end of life care too. My Mother has been there for nearly 4 years and it has been a difficult journey at times but Mere Hall has provided lots
of help and I personally do not think I could have found a better place for Mum. Like all organisations things can sometimes not work, but Mere hall always tries to sort out any issues promptly and sensibly. They have coped with Covid and other issues of a similar nature really well and have a positive attitude to staff recruitment and retention, which is important in the care industry. If you are looking for a care home in this area I would not hesitate to suggest a visit.

Look up staff reviews for this home. Dad was neglected here in 2024 left in soiled bedding, clothing, unwashed and smelt as did his room. After complaining life here got worse. It's happened again Mar'25 and for 5days excrement was left on his bathroom floor. I am trying to move dad to a more suitable
home but the management won't support us, despite them writing a letter that dad cud live independently just a few months ago. Dad complains about the food, his laundry not being done and never being taken out. Other residents have complained to me about the food here too. It's grossly understaffed. Dad is practically left in his room 24/7. Also have been threatened by email with his eviction if I complain again. dad and I want him moved to a home in SE England but the home will not support us. Avoid this home and do research online. It's gone downhill and owners just care about profit not people. I even begged them to move dad to one of their other homes but the owner refused.

Reply from Sammi Atkin, Home Manager at Beverley Parklands Care Home

We're sorry to hear that you feel this way about your father's care, despite the continued efforts of our team to support both him and yourself. While we are unable to discuss personal details publicly, we must clarify that several points raised in your review are inaccurate. These matters have been discussed with you directly on multiple occasions. As you are aware, we are required to follow legal and regulatory procedures, and the home is working in close partnership with health and social care professionals to ensure the best possible outcome for everyone involved. We understand your frustrations and remain committed to supporting both you and your father throughout this process.

The home is very warm + comfortable, efficient at dealing with concerns + problems. However one problem that has occurred recently is my dad has been caught kissing a couple of ladies initially they said we would have to another home but things have been put in place now but unfortunately each time
it happens we have to get 1-1 care for him 24hrs a day at first it was for 1 month which cost us £20,000 a couple of times since it has been only a week or so.

My Uncle chose this care home after his wife died. They have looked after him excellently as he deteriorated quickly and ended up needed a vast amount of personal care.
They gave him a wonderful birthday party in December and took him to the pub with the other men. He ended up in hospital and the
care at the hospital was nothing like he was getting at the home. When it was realised he would not get any better he was transferred back to the home. If it had not been for the staff working hard to get him back I think he would not have been here now.
The staff all care for the residents that is from the cleaning staff, kitchen staff, care staff up to the managers.
They are proactive in making a difference for the residence at all times.
They Value their dignity and they are treated with respect at all times.

As a family we were very anxious about putting mum into the home having had a bad experience elsewhere. However I can say one hundred per cent that we never looked back about our decision of choosing Westfield Park. The home is beautiful, the staff so very caring and professional. Mum went in for
respite for a couple of weeks and in that time we could not believe how she changed, going back to being more alert due to the attention and company she received. Just to look at her we could see how well she was being cared for and mum herself had nothing but compliments for the lovely staff.
As a family we felt so at ease with someone else having responsibility 24/7 but it was the standard of care and seeing mum thrive so well that made it all worthwhile. Even we could not compete!
The food was also top quality and lots of activities going on. Everywhere was spotlessly clean.
A big thank you to everyone that made mums visit a success.

My Dad went into mere hall from Dec 2024 - Feb 2025 for the last 7 weeks of his life. Managers seniors, health care assistants, domestic team, laundry, activity's staff, cooks, maintenance are utterly amazing in their own ways. Everyone showed care, compassion & dignity to him, from popping in to say
a simple good morning or just to ask how he was. The care itself is second to none, Towards the end of his life we always knew & said we would be their until the end, Mere Hall gave me & my daughter the chance to be by his side for the last 48 hours until he sadly passed away. As Family we felt welcomed, supported, guided & well looked after, with no pressure to leave. We can not thank the staff at Mere Hall enough for all the care, compassion & understanding that they provided. Each went above & beyond not just for my dad but for us to. The home itself is beautiful with a real home from home feel, clean warm, comforting with a care family that make a difference to all, Thank you.

Since my husband has been in I have seen an improvement in him. Doing more than when he was home. Staff are absolutely great also management they always have time for you very supportive.
My only gripe is the laundry; one jumper ruined and laundry seems to take forever to come back. I am now taking
his jumpers home to wash. You obviously need more machines to cope with so much washing.

There needs to be a system for providing dishwasher clean mugs in the sitting room. Currently they are being washed in a hap hazard way. There is washing up liquid and no brush to wash up with. It is therefore now an infection control issue. There should be somewhere to collect dirty mugs so they are
not reused. Also there are no teaspoons. I am aware they seem to disappear in care environments. However they need replacing otherwise burns are a risk when taking teabags out of mugs.

Beverley Parklands Care Home

from Hilary L (Sister of Resident) published on 30 January 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

From the time my sister was assessed whilst in hospital, my realisation that it was thorough and professionally undertaken was a relief.
After two months in hospital, she was treated with respect, care and given the time to answer and ask questions with family support included in the discussion.
When
she arrived in the care home, she already had a plan of care and the room was set up to her current needs.
The home itself is lovely with friendly, hardworking and thoughtful staff. Nothing is too much trouble. Within the first week, she has seen a chiropodist, had her hair done and is enjoying the varied menu.
As she has recently become a widow, she has already been made aware that bereavement counselling is available should she feel the need.
As relatives, we are already feeling she will happily settle in longer term.
Thank you for giving her such a good start.

My brother and I moved our 92-year-old mother into Westfield Park last Friday 24 January 2025. We were literally amazed at the quality of the home. More importantly the staff and service provided is exemplary. Everyone is so helpful with a warm friendly and caring attitude. My mother was a little apprehensive
about the move initially but after only three days is so much happier and content. All in all a fabulous care home.

I came from home after making the decision to move and I have really been surprised by the experience. I have been involved in many activities and events and supported the Christmas Fair to raise money for the residents' fund, I like that I can get involved in these things. I like that I can go for
a walk in the local area on my own and come back to a friendly face. I have made some friends with other residents and staff. My room is spacious and clean and I have been able to bring belongings and make it homely.

Everyone at Mere Hall looked after my sister for the last eight weeks of her life. She was treated with dignity, respect and genuine loving care at all times in the most comfortable of surroundings. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. My sister was unable to leave her room and they even
arranged for her to have a fully decorated Christmas tree to enjoy over the Christmas period. Thank you to all those who directly knew and looked after her, you know who you are and I will be eternally grateful to each and every one of you.
Thank you too for always making me and my wife feel welcome every time we visited. You really are the best!

What an amazing place it's like walking into a five-star hotel.
My mother is a resident at Mere Hall care home and it has to be said what amazing teamwork there is from the receptionist who is always happy and smiling and eager to help up to the manager who puts in a big effort to keep us all informed
on how things are going and is very involved in the care my mother receives.
My mother has been quite poorly lately but they all pulled together and got her through the worst phases of it to bring her back to her old self which I thought we would never see you again and we know has not been an easy task for them.
The carers have been fabulous and are more than eager to help with a constant smile.
I love the fact that every time I have been there I have been offered tea or a coffee by the staff.
I would like to thank all the staff members for their contributions to making it a great place to be for my mother including the chef because the food looks lovely.

I have been visiting Magdalen Park residential care home for over 4 years and it comes highly recommended. The residents are treated with love and dignity and are always treated with respect and well looked after and clean. The rooms and facilities are always clean and well-maintained. All the staff
are brilliant and help in every way they can. The food is well prepared and presented in a lovely dining room if residents are well enough to eat in the dining room otherwise they are helped with food in their rooms. As a visitor, I find it very welcoming and everyone is very friendly.
